Riebeek Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Riebeek Sauvignon Blanc is 100 percent Sauvignon Blanc.

This unoaked Chardonnay displays a brilliant green-gold color. The style is dry but fruity. The nose offers exceptional tropical aromas that follow through in the palate with a well-rounded finish of lingering citrus fruits.

It is lovely with most entrees from crisp salads to creamy soups and chicken, whether served grilled or in a creamy sauce.

Our Touraine Sauvignon blanc is crisp and refreshing, with rich, ripe lime and grapefruit aromas. Great elegance with mineral style and despite everything some kind of roundness.

We produce a part of this cuvee with 12 hours skin maceration and another part from directly pressed grapes

Wine was slightly filtered before bottling to ensure wine will remain stable.

Ideal for the Aperitif , any cooked fish such as smoked and grilled salmon but also obviously with a Goat Cheese.

Amaren Fermentado en Barrica Rioja Blanco 2011

Amaren Rioja Blanco 2011  is made from 85% Viura and 15% Malvasia

Color: Straw-yellow in color.
Nose: High aromatic intensity, blended nuances of syrup fruit and cake.
Palate: In the mouth it is smooth and round, with a high complexity of citric flavors (lemon peel), hints of pineapple, pipe tobacco and aromatic plants with a mineral and extremely elegant finish.
Food Pairings: Pasta, rice dishes, white meats with light sauces, roasted or grilled fish, seafood, roasted vegetables, foie-gras.

The 2011 Rioja Blanco Fermentado en Barrica is a. blend of 85% Viura and 15% Malvasia. Fermented and aged in oak for eight months, it is subtly fragrant with orchard fruit, flowers, ginger and oak. It is soft on the attack and well balanced with fresh and savory fruit flavors on the palate, good acidity, and a very nice finish. Sauvignon Blanc, historically known for the great white wines of Bordeaux and Sancerre, has increasingly been associated in the “New World” as coming from New Zealand. Our 100% Sauvignon Blanc was produced from grapes grown in the renowned Marlborough region. Marlborough is recognized for growing outstanding Sauvignon Blanc with mouth watering fresh acidity, balanced by intense tropical fruit notes.

The 2011 growing season featured a cool spring and summer followed by a warm fall. This allowed for vineyards to achieve full physiological maturity. Quantities offered for purchase this year are significantly reduced due to the freeze damage that occurred in late 2010 at Champoux Vineyard. This did not affect quality, only quantity.

The 2011 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley is a very rich, ripe and concentrated wine with a liqueur-like texture and weight. Seemingly endless waves of blackberry, blueberry, cassis and plum fruit coat the entire palate with nuances of violets, Asian soy, smoke, cedar, vanilla, minerals and black tea. The amazingly long finish lasts for over a minute on the palate. This classic wine should age effortlessly for 20+ years. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Rubus Sauvignon Blanc 2016

The Rubus Sauvignon Blanc was produced from grapes grown in selected Waipara Valley vineyards.
The extended growing season of warm, fine days and cool nights ensured the fruit was harvested in wonderful condition mid April.

This wine shows rich gooseberry and tropical fruit aromas with an edge of complexity. The palate is lively and refreshing with a long, lingering finish.

Following harvest the fruit was gently pressed, settled and racked to fermentation. The juice was then cool fermented for 21 days and left on yeast lees contact for a further two months prior to blending, light fining, filtering and bottling. Analysis at Bottling: 3.35 pH 6.5 g/l Total Acid 12 % Alcohol 2.0 g/l Residual Sugar

This Sauvignon Blanc has a pale yellow color with tones of green. It smells of intense tropical fruits, herbs, and notes of citrus. It presents a balanced palate with pleasing acidity and a soft, persistent finish.

Trizanne Signature Wines Reserve Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2016

Made from Sauvignon Blanc 51% Semillon 49%

Rich aromatics of lime, fresh pear, winter melon, hazelnuts and a touch of herbs. This intensity continued on the palate with integrated flavours of fruit, spice and minerality; it is luxurious yet finely detailed. The elegance of the savoury finish is noticeable as the flavours very slowly fade. A delicious, elegant wine that leaves the drinker refreshed.

 

 

Waterstone Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley 2012

Waterstone Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley 2012 is made from 82% Sauvignon Blanc, 18% Semillon


Vintage: 2012 proved to be a perfect growing season in Napa Valley. Near-ideal spring bud break, steady flowering, even fruit set and a lengthy stretch of warm days and cool nights provided textbook conditions for the vines. Optimum ripeness was easily achieved, bringing exceptional quality into the cellar. The wines are showing a smooth balance of acids and sugars, great depth of color, and beautiful aromatics. Yields were near-normal in quantity.

Vineyards: The grapes for this wine were grown in the Nichelini Vineyard in the Chiles Valley region of Napa Valley. The region, with its clay-loam and shale soils, favors a longer growing season with its higher elevation and persistent morning fogs.

Vinification: After whole-cluster pressing, the juice was fermented to dryness in stainless steel, and did not undergo malolactic fermentation. The wine was moved to neutral one-and two-year-old French Oak barrels for 90 days, where the lees were stirred routinely to increase yeast contact and add richness. Prior to bottling, the wine received minimal filtration and fining to preserve the fresh fruit flavors.

Tasting Notes: This crisp, floral Sauvignon Blanc is accented with lemon and tangerine notes balanced by soft herbal flavors. The minimal contact with oak provides some creamy textures that complement the wine’s bright acidity, making this an ideal food wine.

Obelisco Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain 2011

78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17.6% Merlot, 3.6% Malbec and 0.8% Syrah.

The wine has a very rich purple, red-garnet color. Dark red and black fruit aromas like cherry, black cherry, blackberry and cassis, toasted oak, slight vanilla, with hints of maple syrup and allspice. On the palate this wine is medium full-bodied and slightly sweet with cherry, black cherry and blackberry fruit, toasted oak  and hints of maple syrup and clove spice. The mouthfeel is lush on the entry, lively in the mid-palate and finishes long with evident tannins and a hint of tartness

Thorn Clarke Shotfire Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz 2011

 

Thorn Clarke Shotfire Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz  is made from 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Shiraz.


Cabernet sauvignon and Shiraz blends are uniquely Australian and goes against the traditional winemaking grain. This wine embodies the Clarke families tendency to swim "against the current". In the 1980’s when many growers were pulling out vines, David and Cheryl were planting.

Xavier Vignon Vacqueyras 2011

Tasting Notes:   Purple and ruby notes. Fine and silky nose with subtle notes of raspberry, liquorice and vanilla. Great structure, flexible and round tannins, pleasant smooth, long finish.


Review:

The 2011 Vacqueyras is a blend of 60% Syrah, 30% Grenache and 10% Mourvedre that was aged in one-third each new, 1-year-old and 2-year-old barrels for 12-18 months. It boasts up-front, decadently aromas of roasted meats and herbs, licorice, chocolate and black fruits that flow to a rounded, supple and richly texture palate. A big, chewy and hedonistic wine, enjoy it over the coming 5-7 years. Drink now-2020. - Wine Advocate 91 Points

Pearmund Cellars Ameritage Red Reserve 2013

Pearmund Cellars Ameritage Red Reserve 2013 is made from 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 17% Malbec, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot

An excellent wine to sip by the fire. Enjoy notes of black cherries, buttered toast, aged wood, fresh straw and mixed berry preserves. Equal portions of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon & Petit Verdot.

Tamarack Ciel de Cheval Vineyard Reserve 2011

Dark and chocolatey, spiced with pretty notes of allspice and clove, this wine is round and rich, bursting with ripe berries, combined with an earthy complexity and a velvety finish.

made from 42% Cabernet Sauvignon,  29% Merlot,  29% Cabernet Franc 

The wine spent 22 months on 75% new French oak with the remaining 25% second vintage French oak. Select barrels from the best forests of Taransaud, Boutes, Quintessance, and Vicard cooperages.

Looking even more impressive, with loads of potential, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Ciel du Cheval Vineyard Reserve has classic Ciel du Cheval floral undertones to go with notions of creme de cassis, graphite and spice on the nose. Deep, pure and layered, with medium to full-bodied richness, firm tannin and impressive length on the finish, it should most likely benefit from short-term cellaring and have 10-12 years of prime drinking. Drink now-2023. 

Located in Walla Walla and founded in 1998 by Ron and Jamie Colman, with the wines now made by Danny Gordon, this first-rate estate fashions classic, age-worthy wines that over deliver for the price. While I tasted the majority of the bottled wines in Colorado, all of the reserve efforts were tasted from barrel during my visit to the winery. This is an estate to watch and I came away more than a little impressed. - Wine Advocate 92-94 Points

Brulesecaille Blanc Grande Reserve 2016

Brulesecaille Blanc Grande Reserve is made from 75% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Sauvignon Gris.

Pale yellow color with a green tinge. Elegant bouquet with notes of citrus and grapefruits. Smoky notes or fresh nuts aromas. Intensive fruity and elegant flavors of citrus lemon, grapefruit, elder-flower, and gooseberries. Fruit-driven fine structured finish with terroir expression, acidity is high enough to maintain the extended finish. 75% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Sauvignon Gris. Drink over the next 3 years.

Average age of the vines is 25 years.
Manual harvest from September 19th-20th 2016.
Direct press at low pressure (whole cluster) with low amount of SO2, settling at 10°C. 
Addition of yeast and alcoholic fermentation in casks 400 liters. 
Raised on the lees for 6 months with regular batonnage (stirring of the lees). 
Bottling in april 2017.

Buty Wildebeest Red Blend 2011 is made from  77% Syrah,  14% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc

BEAST is the alter ego of Buty. The mercurial nature of our BEAST wines allows us the freedom to explore new varietals, new vineyards and new blends beyond the classic Buty portfolio. Made with a clear vision and voice, these wines have developed their own faithful following. Our Wildebeest is available nationally in fine restaurants and wine shops.

Lair of the BEAST: A denizen of the Columbia Valley, the 2011 Wildebeest roams far and wide. This vintage was predominantly raised in the Horse Heaven Hills on the slopes of Phinny Hill Vineyard and nearby Champoux Vineyard. It was also reared at River Rock Vineyard and our own Rockgarden Estate in the Walla Walla Valley.

Season of the BEAST: Though the 2011 growing season started with a cool, damp spring, this presented no significant issues in the vineyards, other than to delay budbreak and flowering. A cool summer with no heat events afforded abundant hangtime, and allowed the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, while retaining excellent acidity. In 2010, these factors combined to create BEASTs of noble stature and noteworthy complexity.

Winemaking: Our 2011 Wildebeest was blended from 77% Syrah, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Cabernet Franc, with each lot fermented and aged separately in the finest French oak for 20 months. In order to allow the Wildebeest to display its native fruit and spice character, the barrels were generally older (from two to five years). However, approximately 25% was aged in larger-format puncheons, with one puncheon being new. Overall, the new oak is 7%. The alcohol content is 14%.

Notes Upon Encountering the Wildebeest: Our 2011 Wildebeest displays purity and power, with firm tannins, enticing aromatics and a creamy texture. Even though they are not the majority of the blend, the Bordeaux varieties shine through, with the Cabernet Sauvignon providing beautiful structure, acidity and a dark berry core, and the Cabernet Franc contributing ethereal blue fruit notes and hints of exotic spice and mint. Throughout, the Syrah adds lush layers of black cherry, raspberry and licorice, making this a rich and compelling BEAST.

Chateau Castegens Cotes de Bordeaux Castillon 2015

Chateau Castegens Cotes de Bordeaux Castillon is made from 80% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon

Intense and deep vivace red color. 
Nose with black fruit, blackberry, cigar box, licorice, some delicate and integrated oak flavors as well.
In the mouth, we have an explosion of fruit flavors, spice and fine wood. The structure is rich, but the tannins are well integrated already. The finish is long and a slight mintiness give the wine a great length and some purity.

Located on top of a South facing steep vineyard, with great natural water drainage and an excellent sun exposure.
Harvest was conducted by machine in order to get the maximum ripeness. 
Then everything was sorted at the winery in order to get only the best fruit in the tanks.

Wine was aged in French Oak Barrels for 12 months.
