Product Description

Barrel fermented in mixed age French oak producing a medium clear lemon color. This wine has a luminescent, straw color with a subtle sheen. Meyer lemon, white nectarine, baking spice, and salt water taffy on the nose. The palette offers up warm oak spice, sandalwood, and stone fruit.

With a lemon-butter-cream texture, this wine is lush yet still very bright and fresh. Lively acidity, with a custard type of roundness/richness, and the warm oak spice follows through on the pallet. Delicious balance between richness and freshness.

As with all our whites, this wine will reward you for cellaring.

Winery: Big Table Farm Winery

In 2006 we moved to Oregon from Napa, where Brian had been making wine for ten years. We bought property in the Willamette Valley (about an hour outside of Portland).

This Oregon adventure is inspired by our desire to grow grapes, make wine, and to have the space for all of Clare’s animals and Brian’s wacky projects.

We named our farm and winery after our goal to provide a gracious and welcoming table for ourselves and friends, with a cornucopia of hand-crafted food and wine.

And now, almost ten years after we took the leap, we have developed this land into a working farm and built a barn and winery. We feel lucky to live here and we are still in awe and deeply grateful for the chance to build this dream and share it with you!

In 1996 Brian worked his first harvest. Having studied fermentation science at Davis, he took to the process of winemaking easily and loved it.

While working in Napa Valley, Brian learned from some of California's most esteemed winemakers and wineries - Turley Wine cellars, Neyers Vineyards, Blankiet Estate and Marcassin, just to name a few. Brian also spent a harvest working in Australia at Trevor Jones Fine Wines.

These varied experiences have contributed to Brian’s ability to optimize each vintage.

Chanin Wine Company Bien Nacido Chardonnay 2014

The grapes were harvested on four separate days to achieve ideal ripeness—September 1, 2, 4 and 17. Each lot was pressed and directly put into French oak barrels (10% new) to ferment. The wine stayed there for 12 months on its lies and was then racked and lightly fined before being bottled unfiltered in December 2015.

This wine is pale straw in color with aromas of toasted hazelnuts and sea breeze. On the palate, there’s a striking acidity and crispness, laced with textural richness and a power that leads to a juicy finish.

Review:

Gavin Chanin's wines manage to pack a stunning array of elements behind a veil of restraint, here showing sea salt, lemon skins, struck flint and smoked nectarine on the nose. The palate is alkaline and botanical in presentation, offering lime skin, chalk, dried butter flakes, cement and a salty acidity. The wine tastes like foggy sunshine.

Mullineux Quartz Chenin Blanc 2015

This wine is lemon-straw in color, with a mineral character on the nose and hints of oatmeal, ripe citrus and spice. There are notes of white peach, oatmeal and almonds on the creamy palate which finishes with a fresh, lemon-pithiness. Best served at about 12 °C, this wine will show optimally if decanted when drunk within the first 3 years after bottling.

Review:

Single vineyard. So fine and expressive with apple, pear and tangerine notes, as well as minerals and spices. Linear and fresh with lovely brightness. 95 Point Jamie Goode

"The Quartz Chenin comes from a lower site than the Granite release, located towards Malmesbury. Showing more volume and weight, with dense, textured flavours of pear spice and tropical fruit, this is sensitively oaked and refreshing on the finish. Drink: 2016-19"

Mullineux Granite Chenin Blanc 2015

This wine is part of our Single Terroir range, which consists of wines showing a great expression of the terroir from which they come.

Grapes for our Granite Chenin come from 2 parcels of sustainably farmed old vine, dry farmed Chenin Blanc bush vines planted in the decomposed Granite soils of the Paardeberg Mountain. The Vineyards are 38 and 42 years old respectively. These very deep decomposed Granite soils tend to produce wines with great acidity and a flinty, stony aromatic profile.

The Granite Chenin tends to exhibit a fantastic natural acidity that balances out the texture and mid-palate that all Swartland white wines possess. The nose is flinty with some stone fruit and citrus aromatics. Best served at about 12 °C, this wine will show optimally if decanted when drunk within the first 3 years after bottling.

"Even better than last year’s maiden release, this comes from two sites in the Swartland and is fermented in larger, neutral oak. It’s a deliciously poised expression of Chenin with steely acidity, stony minerality and flavours of quince, apple and baking spices. Brilliant winemaking. Drink: 2016-22"

Rebuli Brut Rose

Rebuli Brut Rose is made of 90% Glera (formerly known as Prosecco) + 10% of 2 other red grape varietals (to be named later this week)

Its pale rose color hides its considerable freshness and intensity and persistent perlage. It has a fruity aroma with a noticeable perfume of Golden Delicious apple and strawberry. It is an excellent aperitif and can accompany appetizers in general. It is also suitable for the whole meal and is ideal for drinking with nuts and dry fruit.

This large Spumante estate with just over 100 acres of vines produces high-quality Prosecco. The non-vintage Rosé Vino Spumante Extra Dry is a blend of 90% Glera and 10% Pinot Noir and Schiava. Crisp and dry with plenty of strawberry and cranberry fruit intermixed with a floral component, light body and delicate, well-formed, persistent bubbles, it can be enjoyed over the next year.- Robert Parker 89 Points

Chartron et Trebuchet Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chalumeaux 2014

Golden yellow with green highlights. The light toasted notes of roasted fruits are balanced by the serious mineral notes. The two characters are found again on the palate with a remarkable acidity.
Located South of the Cote de Beaune, the vineyards surround the village of Puligny Montrachet. Along with Chassagne Montrachet, it shares the undisputed prince of all dry white wines : Grand Cru Montrachet. The Climat "Les Chalumeaux" is close to Meursault vineyard.

Traditional vinification. The grapes are pressed immediately upon arrival at the winery in pneumatic presses. The alcoholic fermentation is carried out in oak barrels, 50% new oak. The wine is aged for 18 months in oak barrels with regular stirring to gain depth and complexity.

Blends elegantly with meat and fish with a noble and beautiful texture (veal or chicken in white sauce, roasted sea bass, but also foie gras) or grilled seafood and sauce (shrimp, lobster, ...). Delicious as an aperitif and with cheeses with a light taste (Camembert, Brie, Blue Cheese, Goat Cheese, Gruyere...)

Chartron et Trebuchet Chassagne Montrachet Premier Cru La Maltroie 2013

Of a pale yellow color, the Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru "La Maltroie” 2013 offers a discreet nose of hawthorn flowers, fresh hazelnuts and vanilla notes. Full in mouth, this wine has aromas of candied lemon and some minerality on the finish.

Average age of the vines: 50 years old.

Traditional vinification in French oak barrels with complete malolactic fermentation.

Pairs with Shellfish, fish, goat cheese.

Chateau Castegens Cotes de Bordeaux Castillon 2015

Chateau Castegens Cotes de Bordeaux Castillon is made from 80% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon

Intense and deep vivace red color.
Nose with black fruit, blackberry, cigar box, licorice, some delicate and integrated oak flavors as well.
In the mouth, we have an explosion of fruit flavors, spice and fine wood. The structure is rich, but the tannins are well integrated already. The finish is long and a slight mintiness give the wine a great length and some purity.

Located on top of a South facing steep vineyard, with great natural water drainage and an excellent sun exposure.
Harvest was conducted by machine in order to get the maximum ripeness.
Then everything was sorted at the winery in order to get only the best fruit in the tanks.

Wine was aged in French Oak Barrels for 12 months.
