Matheus Piesporter Michelsburg QBA 2014 (liter) is 100 percent Riesling

A beautiful wine with delicate perfumed aromas. Medium bodied, well balanced, filled with peaches and green apples, crisp and fresh acidity.

QBA stands for "Qualitätswein bestimmter Anbaugebiete", which means that the wine comes from one of the 13 designated wine regions.

Ideal by itself or to complement a variety of meat and seafood dishes.

The Weingut Matheus Estate
Weingut Matheus is located in Piesport on the Mosel and has a 400 year tradition of winemaking (8 generations). Since 1992, the estate has been managed by Petra Hain-Matheus and Jorg Matheus, a graduate of the school in Geisenheim. Total estate production is 35,000 bottles or 2,916 cases annually, but they could produce more (50,000 bottles).

COMMENTS

Lifted aromas of spicy dark cherries with a hint of cedary oak. A medium to full bodied wine; the palate is a maze of spice, pepper and dark fruits, the finish is bright and refreshingly clean.

VINIFICATION NOTES

Picked during the cool of night. An intentional minimalistic approach to winemaking to ensure the vineyard character sings. Fermented with a small percentage of stalks and whole berries, in small open fermenters and hand worked twice daily. Warm fermentation is followed by maturation in French oak barrels for 12-16 months (depending on parcel). Minimal fining and filtration prior to bottling.

Richard Bocking M Burgberg is 100 % Riesling

This is technically a Kabinett level.

Riesling from single-layer Trarbacher Steillage. The wine shows great aromas of fresh fruit, with sweet Riesling characteristics, with an exciting sweetness and a very refined acidity and minerality. Flavors of lemon, honey and native yellow fruits.

This is from a steep vineyard, that is cultivated using Sustainable Agriculture (lower amount of chemical and close watching of the grape development)

Residual Sugar: 90 g / liter

Hansen Lauer Sekt Riesling Brut 2013

A very fine bubbles along with a very nice fruit (apple, pear, citrus) and minerality coming from the stony (slate) vineyards.

Production techniques: the Sekt is bottle fermented, stayed on the lees for 12 months, thus giving it very fine bubbles along with a very nice fruit and minerality. The vineyard sites are Bernkasteler Graben, Bernkasteler Badstube, Bernkasteler Bratenhöfchen, Graacher Himmelreich. The vineyards are situated at the beginning of a long stretch of approx. 2 million vines.

Our Touraine Sauvignon blanc is crisp and refreshing, with rich, ripe lime and grapefruit aromas. Great elegance with mineral style and despite everything some kind of roundness.

Average age of the vines is 20 years old.

We produce a part of this cuvee with 12 hours skin maceration and another part from directly pressed grapes

Wine was slightly filtered before bottling to ensure wine will remain stable.

Ideal for the Aperitif , any cooked fish such as smoked and grilled salmon but also obviously with a Goat Cheese.
