Cape Barren Old Vine Shiraz 2011

Color: Vibrant and deep; vivid crimson-purple
Aroma: Pungent mix of ripe black fruits, spice, licorice and anise enhanced by superbly integrated French oak nuances.
Palate: Full bodied and silky smooth, the highlights are lifted black currant and licorice, combined with mocha and swirls of five-spice characters. The elegant yet rich flavours are persistent, balanced with harmonious French oak and supple tannins leading to a lasting luscious finish.

Fermentation of each parcel of fruit occurred separately in upright static fermenters at around 25-27°C, and remained on skins for about 10 days. The wines were pumped over skins twice per day, and pressed at around 2 degrees Baume. One-third of each wine was added to new French oak hogsheads to complete fermentation, and the balance was added to older oak when dry. The wines were finally blended a month prior to bottling.

Gamba Old Vines Zinfandel Starr Road 2014
A terrific Old Vine Zinfandel from a single vineyard and an epic vintage!

Wine Description:  The Gamba Old Vine Starr Road Ranch Zinfandel reveals an inviting dark ruby-purple hue in the glass. A fascinating nose weaves aromas of blackberry bramble and cherry vanilla with essences of cider spice and nutmeg. On the palate, the intense layers of juicy dark fruits such as a black cherry, velvety blackberry and flinty plum flavors offer a richness that fills the mouth with essence of roasted fig, and pleasingly lingers on the palate. The fruit is framed by an appealing lift of acidity and complimented by freshly toasted cocoa, caramel and spicy, mild tobacco leaf. Finally, the wine is accented by soft tannins and lead to a long, balanced finish that invites the next taste experience.

Vineyard Information: The Gamba Starr Road Ranch Vineyard
Planted in the Russian River Valley on a gently rolling hillside in 1920, the Starr Road Ranch Vineyard, formerly known as the Moratto Vineyard, is organically farmed, consistently producing low yields of the highest quality fruit year after year. We are excited to continue our work with this legendary vineyard site, and share the resulting wines with you.

Winery: Rubus

The Rubus Concept
Rubus wines are a private label created and used by Kysela Pere et Fils, LTD in order to buy, bottle and market wine found at incredible quality/price ratio. All Rubus wines are selected by Fran Kysela MS.

It was first used for a superb batch of 1,200 cases of Amador county Zinfandel back in 1997.  The wine sold in a few days and the Rubus brand was not used since then.

During a trip in California in 2009, when Fran Kysela tasted some incredible wines (available in bottle but without label), he decided to help resurrect the brand creating an outstanding  Cabernet Sauvignon from Stag's Leaps district in Napa Valley (California) , followed by an excellent Chardonnay from Russian River Valley (California)

We then developed the Rubus Zinfandel from Lodi (California).

In 2011, we added a Shiraz/Viognier blend from the Barossa in Australia.

For 2012, the newest addition to the Rubus line is a Chardonnay from Colchagua Valley in Chile.

Rubus is now its own brand representing quality for the consumer and an incredible price along the way.

Rubus Meaning
The name RUBUS means "raspberry" in Latin and it is the name given to the genus of flowering plants in the rose family. For instance, here are some famous fruit from the Rubus family with their latin names:

Rubus fruticosus agg. – Blackberry
Rubus idaeus – European Red Raspberry
Rubus occidentalis – Black Raspberry
Rubus pensilvanicus – Pennsylvania Blackberry
Rubus strigosus – American Red Raspberry

Long Shadows Feather Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Acclaimed Napa Valley vintner Randy Dunn has a reputation for producing world-class Cabernet Sauvignon. He brings more than four decades of winemaking experience to the Columbia Valley to produce Feather, his only wine made outside of California.

Tasting Notes: Deep crimson colored with pure and expressive Cabernet Sauvignon character. Generous aromas and flavors of dark fruits, violets, coffee and toasted herbs combine with a textured mid-palate to deliver a big, yet focused, wine with polished tannins and persistent finish.

Winemaking: Grapes were hand-harvested at the peak of ripeness, then lightly crushed and fermented in small stainless steel tanks. Once fermentation was underway, the cap was pumped over aggressively to extract color and structure. As fermentation neared completion, pump overs were handled more gently to further extract color and flavors without imparting harsh tannins. The finished wine was aged 22 months in 90% new Vicard French oak barrels (Randy's cooper of choice at Dunn Vineyards as well).

Alcohol: 14.4%
pH: 3.86
TA: 0.58 grams / 100ml

Review:

"Made by Napa Valley’s Randy Dunn, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Feather is going to reward those with patience. Clean and pure, with a straight, focused style, it has classic crème de cassis, crushed violets and graphite aromatics, medium to full-bodied richness and fine, polished tannin. It needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will shine over the following decade or more. - Jeb Dunnuck"

“Our family vineyard is located in the picturesque and historic Padthaway valley, 300 km south of Adelaide. Our rich, fertile terra rosa soils, environmentally friendly viticulture, low yield and exceptional fruit is how we consistently produce outstanding wines. Small parcels of the highest quality fruit are selected from our family vineyard and handcrafted to create wines with amazing depth of flavour, style and balance…” David Bryson

Winemaking Notes

Made with the greatest dedication and care, select parcels were matured in new and seasoned French and American oak for up to 20 months prior to being selected for this blend. Individual barrels from our family estate that best demonstrate the intensity of our fruit, balanced by integrated oak were selected for the final blend, which was then bottled with minimal filtration.

Vintage Overview

It started out full bore with the usual warm February weather. All our grape varieties started to ripen at the same time making it one of our most compact vintages to date. Vine-balance was carefully monitored, resulting in fruit that demonstrate the vibrancy and fruit-derived characters that we strive for in our wines.

Alain de la Treille Touraine Sauvignon Blanc 2017

Our Touraine Sauvignon blanc is crisp and refreshing, with rich, ripe lime and grapefruit aromas. Great elegance with mineral style and despite everything some kind of roundness.

Average age of the vines is 20 years old.

We produce a part of this cuvee with 12 hours skin maceration and another part from directly pressed grapes

Wine was slightly filtered before bottling to ensure wine will remain stable.

Ideal for the Aperitif , any cooked fish such as smoked and grilled salmon but also obviously with a Goat Cheese.
