Review:

"Lurid ruby-red. Fresh red berries and candied flowers on the lively, focused nose. Juicy and sharply focused, offering energetic raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that flesh out and pick up a spicy quality with aeration. Shows an appealingly sweet raspberry quality on the finish, which is given shape by smooth tannins. - Josh Raynolds"

Winery: Segries (Chateau)

The Chateau de Segries Estate
In 1994, Henri de Lanzac, cousin of Christophe Delorme from Domaine de la Mordoree, purchased the Domaine and began to improve the quality of the wine. "Segries" in provencal means "water spring". This family owned and operated winery is located in Lirac and produces some of the best values in my portfolio. They produce the following A.O.C. wines:
          * Tavel Rose
          * Cotes du Rhone Rouge
          * Lirac Rouge
          * Lirac Blanc

"An old Lirac estate with recent signs of revival under the new owners; the reds are medium weight, good to drink inside six years; charming Tavel." - Anthony Dias Blue's pocket guide to wine 2006

"A super value treasure trove in the southern Rhone, Segries is a large estate of 109 acres brought back to life over the last decade by Henri de Lanzac. The wines continue to go from strength to strength."- Wine Advocate (#178, Aug. 2008)

"Over the last fifteen years, this property has been transformed into one of the better value producers in the Cotes du Rhone. The old, oxidized, vegetal offerings have been replaced with classic examples of Provencal wines that are fresh and fruity with ripe tannins." - Wine Advocate (#190, Aug. 2010)

"The new releases from proprietor Henri de Lanzac are all impressive." - Wine Advocate (#195, June 2011)

"This has been a reliable producer of terrific values in the Cotes du Rhone (and for their Tavel rose) for a number of years, and they have once again done an admirable job." - Wine Advocate (#201, June 2012)

The Chateau de Segries Vineyard
The Domaine Chateau de Segries owns 44.5 hectares of vineyard land (108.91 acres), all in old vines, 30 hectares in one piece alone:
- 7 ha (17.30 acres) in Tavel, on limestone, pebble stone, sand and clay based soils.
- 30 ha (74.10 acres) in Lirac, on clay and limestone based soils.
- 4 ha (9.88 acres) in Cotes du Rhone.
- 3.5 other ha (8.65 acres) in Cotes du Rhone for the "Clos de l'Hermitage"
Many of the vines date back to 1925, and were planted by the former owner Count de

Alain Jaume Ventoux Les Gelinottes 2015

SALE!

Alain Jaume Ventoux Les Gelinottes is made from 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah

The colour is intense, purple-tinged garnet. The aromatic range of the nose goes from fresh berries to black fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry). The palate is full-flavoured, with very soft tannins and aromas of the fruit already mentioned. This is a gorgeous style of wine, fruity driven, for every day drinking...anytime !

Manoir du Carra Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau 2017

Redolent of strawberries and roses, fragrant and medium bodied. Refreshing, tart finish.

Average age of the vines: 30 years old (between 20 and 60 years old). Skin contact maceration: between 2 and 5 days depending on the parcels.

Beaujolais-Nouveau has been very popular with almost every Thanksgiving dish - from turkey to ham, green beans to mashed potatoes, and gravy to cranberry sauce.

Castelmaure La Pompadour Corbieres 2014

Dark in the glass.  A powerful nose of blackberry evokes the garrigue and  spices aromas. Rounded with a silky texture. Ripe and extracted, with  soft vanilla nuances are carried by a good length. A good combination of power, elegance and finesse.

Vitanza Brunello di Montalcino Tradizione 2011

The Brunello di Montalcino is a very sensual and appealing wine. It boasts a ripe and upfront style: What it gives up in typicity, it makes up for in approachability. It shows a brooding dark color, thick extraction and meaty consistency. Dusty mineral notes of terracotta and crushed granite offer a brief prelude to thicker aromas of cured meat, leather and dark fruit. There's a good degree of succulent sweetness thanks to the abundant tones of prune and plum. The plate is richly layered and velvety.

Age of the vines: 15 years.

Wine-making: Pre-soaking in a cold temperature for three days; pump-overs following the density and the temperature under computer control. Bottle refinement: 12 Months

"A ripe, velvety Brunello with lots of plum and cherry character. Full body, velvety tannins and a fresh finish. Ends with toasted coconut and berry. Supple young Brunello. Drink now. - James Suckling"

Reviews

"The blend of this wine used to change every year, but has now settled on Malbec with 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, combining elements from Paraje Altamira, Gualtallary and Chacayes. Fresh, elegant and beautifully balanced, it’s another triumph from Chakana. 2018-25."
- Tim Atkin, Argentina 2017 Special Report, 94 pts

"Bright, dark red with ruby highlights. Pure but subdued scents of dark raspberry, pepper, chocolate and menthol. Fine-grained, savory and fresh; an alluring, delineated midweight with spicy and floral high notes to its raspberry and currant fruit flavors. The peppery quality carries through the wine and perks up the finish. The tannins are firm but harmonious. This impeccably balanced, structured wine finishes with firm but harmonious tannins and subtly palate-staining spicy length. - Stephen Tanzer"

Review:

"Limpid orange. Vibrant and expressive on the nose, displaying cherry, blood orange and floral scents and a building mineral note. Sappy red currant and bitter cherry flavors flesh out slowly with air, picking up a hint of fennel on the back half. The finish hangs on with impressive tenacity, leaving behind bitter orange pith and cherry pit notes.- Josh Raynolds"
