Venancio da Costa Lima Palmela Reserva is made from 100% Castelao (also known as Periquita) 

Intense garnet color, complex nose with touches of ripe fruit, jam and spices, full-bodied flavor and a very balanced finish.

100% Castelao (also known as "Periquita" and "Joao de Santarem". As the most widely-grown red grape variety in Portugal it is still often referred to in Portuguese as Periquita, although that name is legally owned by José Maria da Fonseca in the Setúbal Peninsula outside of Lisbon. It is highly adaptable to different climatic conditions and its remarkable versatility enables winemakers to make a range of wines – from the easy drinking and quaffable reds and rosados to the powerful and intense reds perfectly suited to lengthy cellaring. Castelão comes into its own and is most expressive in the Sétubal Peninsula, where it makes meaty and intense wines with aromas of red berries and blue flowers that marry well with the deft use of oak.

Made from 45 year old vines.

Classic vinification at controlled temperature (25 °C) with prolonged maceration for phenolic extraction. Wine went through malolactic fermentation.

Wine was slightly fitered before bottling to avoid sedimentation in the bottle and to ensure stability.

I think the wine of the vintage, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Columbia Valley is flat out sensational, and flirts with perfection. Its inky ruby/purple color is followed by incredible notes of cassis, black currants, smoked herbs, licorice and graphite. These give way to a full-bodied, utterly seamless Cabernet that has full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannin and a killer finish. While it possesses the elegance and purity of the vintage, it has a stacked mid-palate, and deserves 4-5 years of cellaring. Winery: Venancio da Costa Lima

Venâncio da Costa Lima was born in 1892 in the town of Quinta do Anjo, at the heart of a modest family. His mother died when he was very young and he was raised by his aunt and uncle, on a farm. Due to his father’s profession (a butcher), Venâncio’s first job was as a livestock tradesman to the region’s butcheries.
He quickly diversified his business, trading essentially in agricultural products.

In 1914 he founded the Casa Agrícola Venâncio da Costa Lima, in Quinta do Anjo. Primarily focused on selling wine, olive oil and grain, the firm later specialised exclusively in the production and sale of wine.
Between the 1930’s and 1950’s, Venâncio da Costa Lima was the second largest wine producer in the region.

During his lifetime, he became a highly recognised and esteemed person in the region, occupying the following positions:

- Chief-leader of the Quinta do Anjo township
- Councilman of the Setúbal Municipality 
- Mayor of Palmela (1937-1946), carrying out remarkable work for the Council
- Owner in the Agricultural and Restaurant industries

He died on November 1st 1956, at the age of 64. This being the date for the local celebrations in the town where he was born, that year they were cancelled entirely due to the great dismay that his death provoked in the region.

Because he was childless, Venâncio bequeathed the winery to his six nieces and nephews who, from that time on, specialised in this region´s wines (Moscatel, red and white). Having passed through four generations, this winery remains a family business, managing 3 million litres annually.
It is currently in an investment phase, rebuilding the entire production area. 
Recently recognised as producer of the "Best Muscat in the World "- Muscats du Monde 2011, this company has projected its name on a large scale and works daily towards producing the best wines in the region.

Amaren Rioja Crianza 2013

Amaren Rioja Crianza is made from 85% Tempranillo and 15% Garnacha

The wine is truly attractive, transmitting the finesse and elegance of the Tempranillo and the fresh, delicate fruitiness of the Garnacha. A balanced combination which is far from an excessive complexity, corpulence or over extraction to achieve the goal set by the bodega: to make a “RICH” wine in capital letters. With a nose in which the fruit character with floral nuances and strawberry toffees will stay with you all through its passage through the mouth, where you can sense its power, but with an elegance, enchanting you with its great balance until the long finish with heady notes of red fruit typical of the best garnachas from the Rioja Alavesa.

Only the perfect grapes are used to produce this wine. Amaren Crianza is the pursuit of perfection in all areas: the vineyard, the selection process, winemaking method and ageing.

Made from 85% tempranillo and 15% garnacha from vines with an average age of 35 years, the grapes are selected on a dual sorting table, first a manual check of the clusters and then individual berries. 
Both varieties are harvested, vinified and aged separately to extract their optimum potential and obtain aromatic complexity.
After vinification the wine is cask aged for 12 months in 50% new, American-oak barrels and 50% in French-oak barrels used for a second vintage.
Tempranillo brings to the wine typical finesse, elegance and true expression of the characteristics of the best soils of Rioja Alavesa. Garnacha is the ideal complement that brings notes of red fruits, freshness and delicacy.

Chakana Estate Malbec 2014

Chakana Estate Malbec is made from 100 percent Malbec.

The color is deep purple, very intense, quite what you expect from Malbec. Plum, brambly berries, spices and an iris/violet note are apparent on the nose.  Intense fruity flavors with velvety tannins.

80% is coming from the Agrelo's vineyards, which is mainly clay and brings a lot of freshness in the wine. 

The other 20% are from Altamira's Vineyards, which gives riper fruit and allows a little more oak

Bottled in March 2015, the 2014 Estate Selection Malbec seems to have changed its origin to Altamira (but it's not explicit on the label). The wine matured in used 225-liter French oak barrels and cement vats. The nose is ripe and fruit-driven, with aromas of dark cherries and plums plus a subdued minerality and a touch of spices. Most noticeable is the really well-integrated oak (only founder and well-seasoned barrels are used for this wine). The palate is juicy, fresh and has good balance with a somewhat bittersweet finish that is attractive and commercial. This is a great expression of fresh and elegant Malbec from Altamira at a very attractive price point. 130,000 bottles produced. - Wine Advocate 91 Points

Accordini Amarone Classico Le Bessole 2011

Intense garnet color. Black cherry and raspberry aromas. The mouth is full and persistent with a good structure.

Lasting but soft, creamy, full of scent of dried fruits.

Ideal with boiled, roasted and grilled meat.

The grapes are generally harvested in the first two weeks of October. They are laid on racks in single layers to allow a better air circulation. The grapes start to dry out on the fruit and on average, after 120 days, they loose 45% of their weight. The grapes are vinified in the end of February with a long maceration on the skins until the wine reaches an alcohol content of at least 15%. The wine is then refined in kegs before being transferred into barrels. The wine is usually bottled 3 years later.

Alain Jaume Cotes du Rhone Rouge Haut de Brun 2015

Alain Jaume Cotes Du Rhone Rouge Haut de Brun is made from 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 10% Cinsault

The colour is purple-tinged garnet.The aromatic range of the nose goes from fresh berries (wild raspberry, blackcurrant, blackberry) to spices.The palate is big and full-flavoured, with silky-smooth tannins and aromas of the fruit already mentioned. The finish introduces touches of liquorice and pepper. A Côtes du Rhône with great complexity for an every day drinking.

A classic Rhône to drink between 1 and 4 years. Best poured at 17°C.

Traditional wine making and ageing is performed in vats only. Bottling after 10-12 months.

Ideal throughout the meal, but particularly with poultry and other white meats, as well as mild cheeses.

Schwarz The Dust Kicker GSM 2012

Color: Opaque, deep red/purple.

Bouquet: Rich and comforting aromas of red and dark berry fruit. Red cherry, dark plum and blackberry with higher tones of cranberry. There are hints of Asian spice, gingerbread, dark soy sauce, licorice and chocolate along with notes of violets, dried orange peel and gentle, seasoned oak aromas further in the background.

Palate: Medium-bodied in the mouth with delicious crunchy redcurrant and red cherry characters along with deeper flavors of blackberry and black plum. Great clarity of flavor with hints of ginger-cake, five spice, red licorice, mocha and subdued oak. Plenty of drive and energy across the palate with a bright line of acidity, excellent balance and a finish that lingers nicely with silky, ripe, fine-grained tannins adding structure. Delicious drinking now and be confident cellaring the wine over the medium-term.

The 2012 vintage in the Barossa was a ripper. We had ideal weather conditions were experienced in the lead up to harvest, with slightly cooler spring and early summer temperatures. Across the Barossa we saw small bunches and low yields and the Shiraz we received had great color and flavor. We source the grapes for this particular blend from different locations across the Barossa, each individual parcel of fruit adds its own characters to the finished wine. Grenache for its perfume and spice, Shiraz for power and bassnotes and Mataro for its savory structure and texture, together they seem to seamlessly mesh together as a complete blend.

Crisp lime flavors, white pepper and lentils, followed by a mouthful of mineral notes and gooseberry. A long lingering finish
