Review:

"Leading off the Châteauneuf du Papes and made from younger vines, with the goal to drink well in its youth, the Grenache-dominated 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape La Belle Voyageuse (there's 4% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre, with a tiny splash of Counoise and Vaccarèse) sports a vibrant ruby/purple color as well as lively notes of raspberries, bouquet garni, spice box, dried soil and flowers. Medium to full-bodied, supple and elegant on the palate, it's a much more upfront, mid-weight effort compared to the more concentrated, structured Reine des Bois cuvée. It should drink nicely on release and over the following decade. - Jeb Dunnuck""

Reviews:

"One of the wines of the vintage is easily the 2013 Châteauneuf du Pape Le Reine des Bois. Mostly Grenache (there’s a fair chunk of Mourvedre and Syrah) that’s raised in a combination of stainless steel and barrels, it offers tons of graphite and crushed rock to go with background blackberry, leather and pepper. Ripe, unctuous and fabulously concentrated, this beautiful Chateauneuf can be drunk today with incredible pleasure, or cellared for a decade. - Jeb Dunnuck"

"The 2013 Cuvée de la Reine des Bois instantly opens with aromas of ripe black raspberries and dark plums, which are woven together with smoke, floral, pepper and a meaty character. This continues to impress on the palate with its rich velvety texture which is cut through by a lovely layer of underlying acidity providing a sense of freshness as it heads into the long finish. This can be approached early, but this Cuvée will also continue to develop with some additional bottle age. (Best 2016-2025) - J.D."

"One of the more polished, seamless and sexy vintages of this cuvée I can remember, the 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvée de la Reine des Bois sports a deep ruby/purple color to go with fabulous notes of black raspberries, graphite, creamy licorice, garrigue and sappy flowers. Full-bodied, silky, impeccably balanced and with impressive tannic grip and length, which builds with time in the glass, this sensational 2015 will be reasonably approachable by this estate's standards, yet have 15-20 years of prime drinking. - Jeb Dunnuck"

"Deep vivid ruby. A highly perfumed bouquet displays ripe red and blue fruit preserve, incense, garrigue and cola aromas complicated by a vibrant mineral quality that gains strength as the wine opens up. Sweet, seamless and broad in the mouth, offering impressively concentrated Chambord, boysenberry, floral pastille and spicecake flavors that show superb clarity and lift. The blue fruit and floral notes power a strikingly long, spicy finish that's shaped by rounded, even tannins. This wine's marriage of heft to finesse is really impressive. - Josh Raynolds"

"I tasted several components of what will likely become the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape La Reine des Bois, all of which were remarkable. A Syrah from vat was stunning, offering flamboyant blueberries and spice along with silky tannins, while a Grenache component from barrel was incredibly rich and layered. I suspect my projected score is conservative. - Joe Czerwinski"

"Bottled under the estate's negociant label, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s deep ruby color is followed by a plump, fruit forward, textured beauty that fills the mouth with ripe red and black fruits, spice and garrigue. I suspect it's going to be a terrific value."

Grand Veneur Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge Le Miocene 2016

Grand Veneur Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge Le Miocene is made from 65% Grenache noir, 25% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre.

An intense dark-ruby color. The nose develop aromas of ripe black fruit (such as blackberry), cherry and spice box. The palate reveals the presence of tannins, in high quantity and elegant. The finish is long and luxurious. This is the Châteauneuf du Pape expression, displaying all the characteristics of the terroir.

Soil type: Plots are located northern part of Châteauneuf du Pape and the vines are grown under organic process. The soil is marked by the violence wrought by the Rhone river. It consists of a layer of marine molasses of the Miocene period covered by alpine alluvium. The presence of a great number of rounded stones known as "galets" in the earth is evidence of the time when the Rhone, then a torrent, tore fragments of rock from the Alps and deposited them on the plain. The GRAND VENEUR cuvee will express year after year a great power and aromatic complexity.

Winemaking & ageing: Harvest is sorted by hand, destemmed and crushed. Fermentation temperature is controlled at 30°C. Vatting period of 18 to 20 days. Matured in vats and oak casks.

Review:

"The entry-level effort is the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Le Miocène and it's primarily Grenache with smaller amounts of Syrah and Mourvèdre. It offers a classic, fresh, beautifully focused style in its raspberry, garrigue, flower and spice aromatics. This gives way to a medium to full-bodied, deep, rich, layered red that has the underlying tannic grip and structure of the vintage. It's going to keep for 10-15 years."

Best between 1 and 8 years.

Review:

"A bigger, richer wine, the 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape La Fontaine Blanc is still aging in barrel and is marginally darker in color than the classic white. Buttered apples, brioche, honeycomb and hint of orange blossom emerge from this full-bodied, concentrated, seriously textured white that has moderate acidity and tons of fruit. It will be interesting to see how this comes together, but it has serious potential. - Jeb Dunnuck"
