Lively, fruity, toasty leesy aromas of honeyed brioche and apple tart with a satiny, tangy, dry-yet-fruity medium body and a sleek, interesting, snappy lemon curd, nougat, and chalk finish with silky, soft, fruit tannins. "A finely wrought wine, this is tangy and mineral drivel, layering acidity, citrus and white fruit in a complex, elegant whole"- Wine Enthusiast  90 pts

"Small grower. Autumn fruits dominate the aromas of this wine, which is blatantly more like a wine than we normally expect a champagne to be. Some may find that unexpected and even off-putting, while others will find it intriguingly delicious."
- Washington Post  - EXCELLENT

"Roland Champion is a small family-owned producer, now with the fourth generation, in the village of Chouilly (”shoo-ee”), which has only Grand Cru vineyards. Made from 100 percent chardonnay grapes, this Champagne offers ethereal grace and poise and harmony; if I were fighting a duel tonight, I would ask for this Champagne as my last beverage. The nose here is about the richness of warm biscuits and hazelnuts, dried fruit and spice, like a Platonic, ineffably light fruitcake; in the mouth, however, it’s about a structure that encompasses an incredible marriage of power and elegance, like the delicacy and strength of the finest bone china. And there’s something porcelain-like about this Champagne, in its notable crisp, lively character, its transparency and its slightly chalky, shale-like mineral elements. Forget the Champagnes that come on with heavy toasty, caramel qualities; here, instead, is a wealth of subtlety and nuance touched with a racy, dynamic edge. Exceptional."

"This rosé exhibits a lovely salmon color with layered flavors of dried red fruit, grilled nuts, and yeast notes. A blend of 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Pinot Meunier, and 20% Chardonnay from two vintages, it is rich and creamy on the palate, with layers of yeast and dried red berry fruit flavors and a long refined finish."

"Champion is a small grower in Chouilly, in the Cotes des Blancs, an area known for fantastic chardonnay. This rosé — of which he makes only about 330 cases — includes 10 percent red wines (pinot noir, pinot meunier) to give it a pale, salmonlike color and a beguiling palate of cranberries, strawberries and currants. Wow. And yum."

Roland Champion Champagne Special Club Grand Cru 2012

Roland Champion Champagne Special Grand Cru 100% chardonnay – Blanc de Blancs

Champagne with rich and structured aromas. Very pleasant and generous roundness, nice length in mouth. Golden color with buttery and fruity aromas. All the expression of a magnificent terroir for your most pleasurable moments. To be a member of this Club, Champagne producers have to elaborate their Cuvées in their own facility, meaning the harvest, pressing, bottling, ridding, disgorging, etc., have to be done at the domaine/estate. Then, only the Recoltants-Manipulants are accepted.

Everybody has to respect the Club’s rules to ensure the quality:
- * Only vintages * (A Special Club champagne may only be produced in outstanding vintages)
- Two blind tastings by a panel of passionate and distinguished oenologists and wine makers to control the quality: the first one after the blending, when the wine is still “Vin Clair” (juice) and another after the 3 years (or more) of ageing “sur lattes”.
- There are 28 members, each of whom can produce his Special Club with his own techniques: * blending or “monocru” (only one grape variety) * “blanc de blancs” or “blanc de noirs”; ageing from 3 to 10 years, brut or extra-brut. 4 year ageing minimum. Strict selection of plots only made out of old vineyards.
"The Club Trésors", created in 1971, was the first association of wine makers in Champagne to advocate an approach to viticulture based on the utmost standards of quality. Since the creation of this pioneering association the members have strived to preserve the essence of their various terroirs and to promote the exceptional character of their wines.

Trouillard Blanc de Blancs Brut NV

The House of Trouillard has incredible holdings on the Côtes de Blancs. The vineyard's rating average 94-95, just one of the reasons the Blanc de Blancs has such incredible raciness and elegance. It is a Cuvée of eleven different Crus in the Reims Mountain, the Côtes de Blancs and the Sézannaise region and is the specialty of the house.

Trouillard Blanc de Blancs Brut NV is made of 100% Chardonnay with a green-gold color, characteristic of Chardonnay, and with fine persistent bubbles. This wine has an aroma that jumps out of the glass and is very inviting. On the nose there are seductive scents of warm almond croissant and honey, lightened by some floral notes. Crisp and refreshing in the mouth and lively with a very refined fruitiness and a touch of smokiness typical of wines from the Côtes des Blancs. The elegance and subtlety of the Chardonnay are to be especially appreciated as an aperitif, and nicely accompanies shellfish and fish.
It has become the favorite of those who know Champagne Trouillard.

Amaren Rioja Barrel Fermented Blanco 2016

Amaren Rioja Barrel Fermented Blanco is made from 85% Viura and 15% Malvasia

Nose: High aromatic intensity, blended nuances of syrup fruit and cake.

Review:

"The barrel-fermented 2016 Blanco Fermentado en Barrica is a classical blend of Viura with 15% Malvasía Riojana, aged with intense work with the lees for ten months. It has plenty of character and is a bit leesy, with a reductive personality. It combines some creamy notes and citrus freshness. The palate is medium-bodied with good freshness and a serious profile. 20,000 bottles were filled in September 2017.- Luis Gutiérrez"

Merriman Old Vine Chenin Blanc 2013

Merriman Old Vine Chenin Blanc has aromas of bees wax, honeysuckle, gold raspberries, guava and box elder. A caramel flan richness of texture shocked with vibrant acids and flavors of peach, myrrh and toasted pecans. Serve cellar temperature.

Clusters were destemmed and allowed to soak on skins for 4 hours prior to gentle pressing, allowing the juice to reveal the beautiful and delicate character of this Loire varietal. Once pressed, the juice undergoes primary fermentation in stainless steel drums and then allowed to age in neutral French oak for 6 months.

The vineyard was planted in 1973, and is located in the high desert of Washington state.

Harvest was September 30, at 21.5 brix and 3.1pH. ABV 13.2%

Nitida Sauvignon Blanc Durbanville 2018

Nitida Sauvignon Blanc Durbanville is made from 100 percent Sauvignon Blanc.

A flavor kaleidoscope of rosy strawberry & raspberry parfait with vibrant nasturtium & naartjie skin. A "wallop" of herbaceous coriander, rocket & nettles is the perfect foil for creamy dessert peach & nutty almond.

Our label illustrations are hand drawn using inks made from our NITIDA tree leaves. Inspired by a Protea nitidus in our garden, they also feature local renosterveld plants and some of the creatures who share the farm with us. Inquisitive and majestic birds, adventurous and sometimes vicious mammals and a plethora of insects that make our corner of Durbanville renosterveld and special.

After four of the driest seasons on record, our Sauvignon blanc vines experienced phenolic ripeness earlier than expected. This kept us on our toes to make sure that we spent a lot of time in the vineyards
tasting grapes rather looking at chemical analysis to get the picking dates correct. This resulted in concentrated fruity components with lower than normal alcohol levels.
Around 85% of the grapes for this wine is sourced from Nitida farm itself, with the balance coming from the neighbouring farms to bring more complexity to this example of Durbanville terroir.
The grapes were harvested in 25 different pickings over a time span of 6 weeks. This gives us a variety of building blocks to create a complex Sauvignon blanc that reflects the riper tropical fruit flavors of the 2018
harvest, with green undertones that is traditional from the Durbanville terroir.

Siegel Special Reserve Sauvignon Blanc Leyda 2018

Siegel Crucero Reserva Sauvignon Blanc Leyda is made from 100 percent Sauvignon Blanc

Sauvignon Blanc is the fabled grape of both Bordeaux Blanc and the Loire Valley (Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume). This varietal exhibits aromas of musk melon, pine, & grass. The finish is zesty and citrus-like, and goes very well with chicken and seafood.

Viña Siegel is a family operated winery with a well-established tradition and long history. For generations we have been dedicated to the art of crafting wines with strong identities.
Our Special Reserve wines represent the union of tradition and innovation in two generations. The grapes are sourced through careful selection of our best vineyards in the cool coastal Leyda Valley region. Siegel Special Reserve Sauvignon Blanc has a pale yellow color with green hues with an intense and complex aroma of grapefruit and pear accented by mineral notes. The palate is balanced and juicy with a vibrant acidity and a soft, lingering finish.

The grapes are harvested very early in the morning to maintain freshness, the alcoholic fermentation occurs at 14-15°C. When the alcoholic fermentation finishes, one part of the wine is kept on a pump-over programme. Once the wine has been blended it is clarified, then undergoes cold stabilization and then later filtered through soil. On the bottling line it is filtered again through a sterile sheet and a membrane to ensure that it is micro-biologically stable.

Serve with shellfish, fish and sushi.

Review:

"With a bouquet that evokes cold river stones with hints of nettles, this cool climate Sauvignon Blanc has a richly textured, mineral-like mouth feel with subtle herbal, citrus and passion fruit notes. It finishes with excellent persistence and brightness."

"The white 2015 Vilerma shows really well for the warm vintage. It's mainly Treixadura (67%) and the rest a myriad other varieties including Godello, Albariño, Lado, Loureira, Caíño and Torrontés. It ferments in stainless steel and is bottled unoaked and without malolactic fermentation. It's very classic with notes of flowers, herbs, white fruit and a fresh, soft palate, with less acidity that 2014. Nicely balanced, approachable and easy to drink. 45,775 bottles produced.
