South Eastern Australia encompasses the south eastern third of Australia. It trails from Queensland’s pacific coast all the way to South Australia’s Indian coast. South Eastern Australia has beautiful mountains, slopes, rivers, deserts and rainforests. Temperate climate is common in this region. The beautiful landscape and warm to moderately cool climate make a perfect combination for growing wide varieties of grapes.
Vinifera grapes are very common in South Eastern Australia. There are other variations as well. Grapes like Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Semillon are also common and make up South Eastern Australia’s white wines. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, on the other hand, make up some of South Eastern Australia’s finest red wines.

Morambro Creek Cabernet is 100 percent Cabernet
Deep purple in color. A rich elegant nose of cassis with overtones of vanilla and coffee. Lush, ripe palate dominated by black fruits, cherry and chocolate. Full bodied with savory, integrated fruit tannins and persistent finish.
Winemaking at Morambro Creek is very traditional and labour intensive. Oak maturation takes place using 35% new French barrels. This blend was put together using select barrels from our family estate that best demonstrate the intensity of our fruit balanced by integrated oak.

Review:
From the small Padthaway region three hours' drive east of Adelaide, this is a full-bodied Cab that, despite the region's warm climate, avoids being bombastic. The nose feels Christmasy: baking spices laced with purple beets, dried mint and red berries. In the mouth it's ripe and generous, and there's a fair bit of oak showing but all is held at bay by taut, fine-grained tannins. Drink through 2025.

Mature and ready to drink, this medium to full-bodied wine is a fine example of Padthaway's (and the larger Limestone Coast region's) potential for Bordeaux varieties. Mt. Monster Cabernet is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Bryson family established Mt. Monster wines in 2005 with pristine fruit from their cool climate vineyard at Padthaway. Environmentally friendly viticulture, hand pruned, low yielding mature vines, grown on terra rossa soil and exceptional fruit are how they consistently produce outstanding wines. Modern winemaking and minimal processing is employed to ensure the purity, integrity, texture and flavor from the vineyard.
Mt. Monster is a unique, rocky granite outcrop with panoramic views over the Limestone Coast, north of Padthaway.

Deep purple in color. Classic aromas of lifted blackcurrant, blackberry and mint on the nose. Flavors follow through of sweet berry-fruit accented by fresh muddled mint. Elegant, structured palate with big velvety tannins.

Review & Tasting notes:
Bright straw color, with hints of lime green. Fresh figs and melon, with vibrant lemon citrus fruit. The nose also shows some yeast complexity from extended lees contact. Fresh tangy melon fruit flavors, & a clean acid finish. Although it may benefit from up to 2 years maturation in bottle, this wine is best consumed when young and fresh.

Clear straw green color. Aromas and flavors of lemon curd and lemon cream, french bread toast points, and green apple with a satiny, lively, dry medium body and a tingling, delightful, medium-length finish that shows suggestions of lemon cream on a croissant, green apple, pineapple juice, and white flowers with a suggestion of oak flavor. Needs a bit of air to open up, but with that comes a nice balance of orchard fruit and citrus with aromas of biscuits and cream.

There’s a meaty, savory olive funk to this, beneath which you’ll find lurking raspberry compote, strawberry jam and subtle spice. It’s lightweight with an almost viscous texture. It is a slippery little number—soft around the edges as though wearing shoulder pads, with candied berry fruit and gentle tannins. The 2017 The Menzies Cabernet Sauvignon is looking good next to the 2016 tasted beside it. It is fresh and vibrant, with layers of complexing dark earth characters, with cigar box, black olive brine, cassis, bramble, milk chocolate and cracked black pepper. This is very good, and it has what I am coming to recognize as a "Yalumba red character": dried herbs, particularly oregano. The juicy splay of fruit through the finish is a highlight.

The 2018 The Menzies Cabernet Sauvignon is luscious and velvety in the mouth, with a lustrous core of shimmering purple Cabernet fruit. The tannins are typical of Coonawarra in that they are firm, yet they are seamlessly inlaid into the fruit, which feels as if it spills over the edge of the glass. Seductive but rigid, it will have a long life in front of it, make no mistake. You get cassis, resin, licorice, raspberry, gravel/iodine, bay leaf, dark chocolate, after dinner mints (the only brand to be had is the After Eight mints, of course), and notions of cedar spice. Brilliant. 14% alcohol, sealed under cork.

Wonderful with a chargrilled rib eye on the bone or porcini mushroom, thyme and quinoa risotto.
Review:
Prune plums and blackcurrants. Violets, lavender leaf and black cherry. Olive tapenade, rosemary and crushed black peppercorn. The wine is held together by a fine mesh of grape and subtle oak tannins, intertwined with pure Coonawarra cabernet fruit. It’s chiselled in its dimension, and you might miss it, as it has such great drinking pleasure. Fruit purity, lovingly handled equals total seduction.

The 2021 Domaine Joseph Voillot Volnay Les Champans Premier Cru is from the domain’s largest premier cru holding, 4.2 acres whose vines date from 1934, 1971, and 1985. Champans is down-slope in the premier cru band, and its wine typically has more fruit and power than other Voillot Volnays.
Review:
The 2021 Volnay Les Champans 1er Cru has much more brightness and delineation than the Fremiets this year, with red cherries, wild strawberries and just a touch of iodine and
sous-bois
. This is nicely focused. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, fine structure, pliant tannins and a harmonious finish. Not the most complex Champans encountered from this address, yet it has class.

A softly spicy and noticeably earthier nose blends notes of both red and dark currant with those of plum and violet. The supple, round and velvet-textured medium-bodied flavors seem quite forward though this impression contrasts with the compact and youthfully austere finale. Note that this is sufficiently firm to benefit from at least a few years of keeping.
