Siro Pacenti was founded in 1970 when Siro Pacenti established the Pelagrilli estate northeast of Montalcino, in Tuscany. His son Giancarlo Pacenti took over in 1988 and, after training in Bordeaux, modernized the cellar and expanded the holdings to include the Piancornello vineyard on the warmer southern side of the appellation. Farming old-vine Sangiovese across both sites, the estate is regarded as one of Montalcino’s benchmark names, with its Vecchie Vigne and Pelagrilli Brunello bottlings among the most admired expressions of the region.
Siro Pacenti Brunello di Montalcino Vecchie Vigne 2020 is made from 100% Sangiovese.
Siro Pacenti was founded in 1970 when Siro Pacenti established the Pelagrilli estate northeast of Montalcino; his son Giancarlo Pacenti took the reins in 1988 and, after training in Bordeaux, modernized the cellar and added the Piancornello vineyard on the appellation’s warmer southern side. The Vecchie Vigne, or “Old Vines”, bottling is drawn from the estate’s oldest Sangiovese plantings across both sites and aged in French barrique.
Brunello di Montalcino is made entirely from Sangiovese grown on the hills around the town of Montalcino in southern Tuscany, and is aged for years before release. The 2020 vintage is a touch more accessible in youth while keeping the concentration and firm, dusty tannic structure that give the wine its long aging runway.

Deep ruby red; opaque. Aromas of red fruits change to wooden touches of leather, black truffles and coffee. Fat, concentrated and full flavored with a very long liquoriced and fruity finish.

Orin Swift Mannequin Chardonnay is made from Chardonnay.
Mannequin is Orin Swift’s California Chardonnay — barrel-fermented and aged in French oak for a rich, full-bodied white with layers of roasted cashew, grilled peach, tropical fruit, and vanilla. Bold and lush, it brings Dave Phinney’s signature intensity and unmistakable label art to a white wine.
Winery Info: Orin Swift Cellars was founded by Dave Phinney in St. Helena, Napa Valley, in 1998. Built on boldly sourced fruit from across California and instantly recognizable, provocative label art, Orin Swift has become one of the most talked-about names in modern American wine.
Review:
Even with an appreciable volume (11,300 cases), all of the 2021 Chardonnay Mannequin was barrel fermented and matured, spending eight months in 23% new French oak. Blended primarily from Santa Barbara and Sonoma sources (there is some Napa fruit, as well as 2.6% Viognier), it’s toasty on the nose, boasting notes of roasted cashew, grilled peaches and vanilla. It’s full-bodied, lush and easy to drink, with tropical fruit and pineapple on the finish. Enjoy it on the young side.
