Wine from Vouvray

Vouvray is a well-known appellation of Loire Valley’s Touraine district in France. Wine production in the region is common but heavily depends on the weather conditions. Cooler climates in Vouvray lead to production of dry styles of wine while warmer climates tend to yield sweet styles of wine.
Chenin Blanc is nearly the only grape varietal that gets produced in Vouvray. There are some grape variations like the Arbois although it is considered to be a rare occurrence. Chenin Blanc grapes are planted across thousands of acres in Vouvray, making it the largest grape production in the region.
Chenin Blanc is known for its high acidity, especially when it is produced in dry style. Nevertheless, Vouvray wines are often characterized by honey, flower, nuts and fig that make delicious and complex wines.

Alain de la Treille Vouvray is made from 100 percent Vouvray.
This Vouvray is stunning with its elegancy and freshness, which carry through the ripe fruity palate, marrying with hints of honey and apricots.
Average age of the vines is 15 years old.
We produce a part of this cuvee with 12 hours skin maceration and another part from directly pressed grapes
Wine was slightly filtered before bottling to ensure wine will remain stable.

100% single block Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged 20 months in 100% new French oak.

This beautiful block sits on the lower section of the Red Mountain side of the vineyard. Featuring a perfect southwest aspect, it gets the maximum sun exposure for depth and concentration. The land itself is wind-blown loess covering an alluvial floodplain, dotted with indigenous sage.
Winemaker's Notes
Explosively and exotically nuanced aromas of crème de cassis, Himalayan blackberry, black roses, dried violets, pencil shavings, crushed volcanic rock, and liquefied river minerals. While extremely dense and concentrated, this wine has a lot of grace and poise on the palate. The finish of inky deep black fruits, richly refined oak tones, and exotic floral notes, is utterly bewitching. Leave it for 5-7 years if you can or decant well before drinking. This is a 30-year wine in the making.

Lastly, and a wine that stopped me in my tracks, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Block 47 might be the wine of the vintage. Revealing a dense purple hue as well as incredible aromatics of caramelized red and blue fruits, classy oak, lead pencil shavings, and a Latour-like sense of minerality, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, building tannins, a stacked mid-palate, and a great, great finish. I love its balance and purity, but I suspect it’s going to demand bottle age.

Larroque Bordeaux Blanc is made from 73% Sauvignon Blanc and 27% Colombard.
No oak.
Color : Pale yellow with green tints.
Nose : Complex aromas of white flowers, exotic fruits, citrus and boxwood, with a touch of minerality.
Mouth : Aromatic, with a nice richness and freshness. Predominant flavors of tart, crisp fruit.
Marie-Christine, the daughter of Henri Ducourt, purchased this prestigious left-bank property in 1979, which lies on the border of the Graves appellation.
The 60-hectare vineyard was rapidly replanted and the château building, which dates from 1348, was restored.
Our family now produces three different-colored wines there: red, white and rosé.
Grown on loamy-clay soil.
Harvest : Machine harvesting in the cool, early morning
Maceration : Skin-contact maceration for several hours, depending on ripeness, and pressing
Fermentation : Beginning of the cold alcoholic fermentation (12°C / 53°F) then an increase in temperature to finish the fermentation at 20°C / 68°F.
