Wine from Laroque

Château Laroque, with its mighty 12th century tower ("Tours" in French), is an imposing feature in the Saint-Emilion area. Located to the south of the village of Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, the estate appears as a defensive stronghold watching over Saint Emilion. Built on a plateau of limestone rock, from which the estate took its name, this outstanding location has been owned by several families, each one of them making their contribution and imparting an added touch of soul to the place.
The restoration of the cellars carried out in the 19th century was the work of Maurice Dufaure de Rochefort, a keen enthusiast of Saint-Emilion wines. Once the new cellars had been completed, he refocused the economic activity of Château Laroque solely on vine-growing.

Pulled from a Gentleman's cellar, all wines from this cellar have been purchased by the owner either from the importer or direct from winery. They stayed in his cellar until being moved to the Timeless Wines warehouse.
Luis Canas Rioja Blanco Vina Viejas is made from 90% Viura and 10% Malvasia from 60+ year-old vines, barrel-fermented for three and a half months in new French oak.
Grapes are harvested into small crates and sorted by hand, bunch by bunch. Beautiful golden yellow with bright, luminous highlights; the nose is fine and elegant, weaving floral and fruity tones. The palate is dry, with crisp acidity that lends freshness and vivacity and a structured, tasty finish of ripe fruit. Best served at 8°C.
Pairs with shellfish, crustaceans and grilled white fish or fish stews, and also with rice dishes, soft and blue cheeses, all kinds of mushrooms, and fresh fruit.
Review:
This is lemony and citric with toasty notes and subtle reduction of flint. The palate is vibrant, very well crafted, with a textural element that combines perfectly with the brightness of the acidity. This was in French oak for 8 months. Very textural. Drink or hold.
