Located in Adro among the splendid hills of Franciacorta, in a 15th century farmhouse, Monzio Compagnoni Azienda Agricola is today considered one of the most dynamic wineries operating in the Franciacorta and Bergamasco wine sector. From our vines we obtain Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco and Grigio, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Nero and Moscato di Scanzo grapes, with which we produce wines from Franciacorta and Bergamo. The winemaker Marcello Monzio Compagnoni has been carrying out this great winemaking reality for thirty years now through study, experience and passion and thanks to the modern and pragmatic mentality and the productive soul he has been able to carve out an important space in the world of wine.

Monzio Compagnoni Franciacorta Saten Brut Millesimato
Color: very deep golden yellow, often, with very abundant froth and persistent perlage of great finesse.
Scent: it has a rich spectrum of scents, it is enveloping and almost greasy without any cloyingness; there are sensations of vanilla, biscuit, licorice, anise.
Taste: in perfect correspondence with the nose, even the taste is full, rich, generous, juicy; all well balanced by an acid base that allows the sweet sensations (of ripe fruit) to express themselves without tiring the palate
The name "Saten" means Silk.
The name "Franciacorta" comes from a phrase in the 1100-1200’s for tax exempt. The phrase is "Franzacurta”….referring to tax exempt status of some local towns in Lombardy, Italy. Franziacorta became a DOC in 1967 and was granted the DOCG status in 1995. There are 2000+ hectares (5,400 acres) total for the appellation with over 100 producers. Total production for the DOCG is around 550,000 cases.

Dark crimson in color, with deep garnet hues. A concentrated array of aromas of mulberry, blackberry and dark plum indicate the richness to come, while savory and complex notes of charcuterie, cedar, sage and five spice tease the senses. Plush and velvety on the palate, the wine has intense fruit concentration with plum, red currant, blackberry and anise flavors, yet an enchantingly elegant and refined structure. Layers of silky tannins reveal the impressive depth of the wine before giving way to an incredibly long finish.

This has a very complex nose, offering so many facets of spices and fragrance with florals and orange peel, as well as crushed stones, ripe black cherries, blackberries and dark cherries, earth, chocolate and more. The intensity and power here is very tightly held and it has a build of such precise tannins, which carry very intense and assertively ripe blackberries, dark cherries, ripe plums and blueberries. So much on offer here. This has a very bold, intense feel. Exceptional vintage. One of their finest. Try from 2028.

Faust Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 is made from 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
Elegantly structured and polished, the 2023 Faust Napa Valley Cabernet is exquisitely balanced between freshness and richness on the palate. Cool forest notes lift from the glass and meld with oak spice, bay laurel, and fragrant underbrush, while the wine’s signature star anise gives way to beautifully concentrated flavors of Luxardo cherry, blueberry compote, and dark cocoa. Fine-grained tannins wrap around a backbone of acidity that persists—with intriguing wet-slate minerality—endlessly on the finish. Sourced primarily from Faust’s Coombsville estate vineyard in Napa Valley.
Review:
Aromas of red and dark fruit, crushed stones, dried herbs, flowers and salt-cured meat. The palate is tightly woven with a silken mouthfeel, fine tannins and a succulent, minerally finish. A wine of real nerve and approachability young.
