The tradition of the great wines of the Langhe proposed in a youthful and dynamic way. Azienda Vinicola Palladino combines the wisdom of its own history with the current trends, in order to ensure that the quality of a production strongly linked to the territory can be fully appreciated, both in Italy and abroad. The selection is exclusively Piedmontese denominations, vinified in purity.
Hailing from Guarene, Piero Palladino spent his youth in Alba, where he studied winemaking at the Istituto Enologico. He was employed as winemaker for a wine vendor in Biella, having moved there after the war. However, Piero did not cut ties with Alba and the Langhe. In the years following, his characterising resourcefulness led him to set up businesses in various sectors, before definitively arriving in the textile industry. However, wine remained his passion, one that he emphatically asserted at the first opportunity. In 1974, Piero bought the current Azienda Vinicola Palladino and entrusted its management to his cousin Maurilio, his subsequent business partner.
Maurilio Palladino, together with his wife Domenica, managed the company for years, drawing inspiration from the principle of fidelity to tradition and the characteristics of the territory. Today his experience is combined with the enthusiasm of the new generation, who help to manage the cellar and to continuously research new markets. They include Maurilio's granddaughter Veronica and her husband Alessandro and Margherita, Piero's granddaughter and daughter to Mauro Palladino, Maurilio's partner and cousin. Not to forget Luca and Matteo who provide invaluable help in the vineyard and in the wine cellar.

A deep and rich hue of golden straw gives the first clue that this is a serious Chardonnay. Aromas of pear, green apple, and lime peel jump out of the glass followed by more nuanced fragrances of orange blossom, ginger root, and brioche. The sensation on the palate casually demonstrates both broad depth and laser like focus. An assertive core of acid and saline minerality rests completely ensconced in rich flavors of pie crust, clotted cream, and burnt caramel. Drink now for fresh vibrance, or in ten years for wild complexity. This wine is a perfect white to be enjoyed year-round.
Review:
The 2021 MFN Blanc Chardonnay is very ripe in style with scents of banana chip, apple pie, jasmine, allspice and brown sugar. The full-bodied palate is packed with ripe, spicy fruits and plenty of refreshing acidity, and it finishes long with a satiny, mouth-coating texture. It's an old-school style reminiscent of Napa that fans of ripe, oaked Chardonnays will enjoy.

The Sonoma Coast bottling is a blend of barrels from Ferren's single vineyard offerings; Lancel Creek, Silver Eagle, Volpert, and Frei Road Vineyards. The wine is always somewhat more approachable early in its life as less new oak is used in the blend. Pure and translucent fruit is the hallmark of this cuvée. Citrus, quince, sea spray, and minerals are buoyed by refreshing acidity and a seamless finish.

"Succulent and fleshy, with notes of apricot pastry, grilled peach and salted butterscotch, along with fresh acidity, plus details of lemon zest, tangerine and lime sorbet. Fresh ginger and white tea linger on the long, expressive finish alongside a touch of chewy dried mango. Drink now.—M.W.” - Wine Spectator (May 2025), 93 pts
