Product Description

Rich garnet color. Aromas of vanilla, clove and cooking spices with hints of ripe berry, pomegranate and toast. Soft entry, balanced tannin and berry fruit mingled with pleasant acidity and lingering finish.

Review:

Dark, concentrated and grippy, this is a sizable Pinot from a cool, coveted vineyard. Juicy blue and blackberry fruit dominate on the nose and palate, surrounded by exotic cedar, clove, oak and toffee, a swipe of vanilla lurking behind the front flavors. The big tannins will appreciate time in the cellar, through 2022–2024. - Virginie Boone" - Wine Enthusiast (February 1st 2015), 95 pts

The Trombetta Family Wines Estate
A lifelong thrill for backyard harvest-to-table farming, discovering fine Burgundies, and joining with family and friends for long meals around the table kept us satisfied until we could no longer look away from the unique potential of our greater backyard, which nurtures some of the most prized Pinot Noir vineyards in the New World.

Winemaking came to us naturally, as a deep expression of our unique time and place.

The Trombetta Family Wines Vineyard
Sonoma Coast AVA

"Great wines begin in great vineyards. Each season as I walk the vineyards I realized how our wine exemplifies the intersection of the true potential of Gap’s crown, our clones and passion for winemaking. As the growing season progresses my constant vigil of walking the rows and monitoring the progress of the vines helps us to determine the perfect moment to harvest our fruit."

Trombetta Family Wines first vintage of Pinot Noir is from the GAP'S CROWN VINEYARD located on the western slope of Sonoma Mountain. We have selected three clones of Pinot Noir that we feel exemplify the rich minerality, soils and cool weather from the Petaluma Gap. This vineyard is pristinely maintained. At harvest, Rickey works the night picks alongside the crew. Armed with blue shop towels, she ensures that each macro bin is clean and dry before the fruit arrives. Leaves are painstakingly pulled along with any botrytised fruit.

2011 Harvest Notes:
Although slightly warmer than 2010, the 2011 season was recorded as a cool growing season with extended hang time. Lower than average fruit meant extra vigilance in the vineyard in order to determine the perfect harvest date. On October 2, we began harvesting at 1a.m., working quickly to load the truck before rain-- which would last for 2 days -- began to fall around 7 a.m.

2010 Harvest Notes:
2010 was a cool year with a heat spike towards the end of the growing season, giving the Pinot Noir a long ripening period and time for the grapes to develop. The fruit set was well balanced in the vineyard, and a close eye was kept for ideal harvesting parameters as the season drew to a close.

Lucas & Lewellen Pinot Noir Goodchild-High 9 2013

This is a limited vintage from the highest nine acre block of the Goodchild Vineyard, where the cool climate produces highly concentrated clone 667 grapes. This wine was aged sur lees for 11 months in French oak, bringing forth the natural flavors of lively red fruit with smooth tannins and a lingering finish.

Reviews:

Juicy strawberries, raspberries and plums are balanced by wet slate on the nose of this wine from grape growing pioneer Louis Lucas and his vintner-partner, Judge Royce Lewellen. The palate shows more raspberry and a bit of boysenberry along with an orange rind tartness and woody herbs like juniper and black sage. - Wine Enthusiast 93 Points

Riebeek Cape Rose 2016

Riebeek Cape Rose is made from 100% Pinotage.

Abundant and distinctive flavors of fresh strawberries and ripe cherries with a crisp dryness on the palate will be charming at many occasion.

Harvested at an average of 24 degrees balling.

100% Pinotage grapes were harvested early in the morning and left on the skins until enough color and flavor were extracted. The juice was settled overnight and then inoculated with selected yeast. Cold fermentation ensured capturing of all the natural fruit flavors.

Enjoy well-chilled with lighter meals like pasta, salmon, and salads, or as a glass on its own with good friends.

Ferren Chardonnay Silver Eagle Vineyard 2014

Silver Eagle Vineyard rests atop Stoetz Ridge, the land mass that divides the remote Sonoma Coast from the Russian River Valley. This vineyard experiences both the cooling ocean breezes of the nearby Pacific, as well as the warmth of the interior valley. The Chardonnay made from this unique confluence of climates is extraordinary; a fascinating juxtaposition of briny minerality and candied citrus.

Average age of the vines is 10 years.

100% native fermentation (primary and secondary), long cool fermentations often lasting up to a full year, minimal lees stirring, no additions of any kind (commercial yeast, water, acid, enzymes, etc ...)

Ageing: 12 months sur lie in 60 gallon Burgundian barrels. 6 additional months in stainless.
Cooperage: Francois Freres 100% French Oak, Vosges and Troncais forrests, 40% new oak.

Never any fining or filtration.

Review:

The 2014 Chardonnay Silver Eagle Vineyard is flat out gorgeous. Ample, unctuous and inviting, the 2014 offers exceptional depth, silkiness and nuance. Apricot jam, honey, honeysuckle, orange peel and baked apple all flesh out in the glass. The interplay of rich, textured fruit and bright aromatics is compelling. The 2014 is a bold, opulent wine from Matt Courtney and yet it retains remarkable balance. -Vinous 95 Points
