The Abruzzo wine region in Italy with over 65% of the region being mountainous. The Apennines peaks actually reach up to 9000 feet above sea level. The region lies between the foothills of the Apennines to the Adriatic Coast. The vineyards on the hillside are planted on calcareous clay that benefits from significant sun exposure that is ventilated thanks to the dry breezes from the Adriatic. All four provinces produce Montepulciano, Chieti, L’Aquila, Pescara, and Teramo. The southern province, Chieti, produces the largest quantity of wine. L’Aquila, which is the most mountainous province, produces a dry rose, which is labeled Cerasuolo. The most favored vineyards are in Pescara and Teramo, which is located in the north. These two provinces have more ferrous clay and limestone and are less fertile. The cooler climates produce the most concentrated wines. There were about 18,000 acres of wine vineyards in 2004.
The wine of Abruzzo is often a deep colored red with spice and pepper notes, and can be described as rustic. These wines are highly aromatic with an almost syrupy, thick mouth feel.
In the late 20th and early 21st century, Abruzzo earned the reputation of having the most exported wines in Italy.

Paul Hobbs Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is made from 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon.
Farmed with a unique precision to match the unparalleled terroir of this historic Oakville site, this vintage is ethereal, delicate, and nuanced. An attractive deep garnet in appearance, this wine expresses soft red cherry, strawberry, floral, and graphite. The palate is full and lively with flavors of blueberry, blackberry, sandalwood, and dried herbs, supported by a lovely grip of tannins and well-tensioned texture that leads to a long, refined finish.
Review:
Blackcurrants, black cherries, ripe raspberries and tar. Some graphite, too. It’s full-bodied and very plush with crushed tannins and an airy mouth-feel. Just floats across the palate. So fine. It has a second finish at the end, where the tannins emerge at the front of the palate. Quite unique. Drinkable now, but Best after 2027.

More expressive and open-knit, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard sports a similar ruby/purple to go with an incredible array of black raspberry, cassis, flowery incense, orange blossom, smoked tobacco, and exotic spice. As are all To Kolans, it's incredibly perfumed and complex aromatically, and it's one of those wines that changes every time you come back to the glass. Full-bodied on the palate, it offers beautiful richness and depth, a light, graceful mouthfeel, silky tannins, and a heavenly finish. It's another magical wine from this talented winemaker that readers will absolutely love.

Riebeek Chenin Blanc is made from 100 percent Chenin Blanc.
As the unofficial drink of the Riebeek Valley, the Riebeek Chenin Blanc is the perfect every day wine that offers uncomplicated quality for the novice and connoisseur alike.
Packed with upfront tropical fruit, the nose charms with an abundance of guava and gooseberries. The pallets follows through with fruit flavors, balanced by a crisp acid to ensure a fresh and fruity style of wine.
Grapes came from both bosstok and trellised vines with some of the vineyards as old as 46 years. Fermentation was done at lower than usual temperatures to capture the fresh fruit flavors.
Very accessible and suited to almost every occasion, the Riebeek Chenin Blanc never disappoints.
