Full-bodied with stunning concentration and flavors of dark cherries, black plum, melted milk chocolate. Well integrated French oak, this well balanced wine has supple, but ripe tannins and a lengthy finish. From a single vineyard in Oakville. 14 months in 60% new French oak, Excellent value for Oakville-Napa Valley. Just 350 cases produced.

Trevor Sheehan spent nearly 10 years collecting and trading some of the world’s finest wines and learning from masters of winemaking in Bordeaux and Burgundy before he decided to create his own value-based brands that showcase the unique characteristics of California wine regions. Trevor was first exposed to wine while he was at college in his native Texas and developed a taste for Burgundy which he started collecting. He began selling wine wholesale and eventually created Balius from 400 cases of Oakville Cabernet that wasn’t selling. In 2010, Trevor left Dallas and accounting for wine country and moved to Napa; here he founded Precision Wine Company. Siegel Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon is made from 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon.
Pre-fermentative cold maceration for 5 days, with alcoholic fermentation occuring at 27-29 degrees C to better extract polyphenols from the wine. Post-fermentative maceration for 2 to 3 weeks. Once the wine has been blended it is smoothly clarified. Aged in French oak barrels for 10 to 12 months.
The grapes for the Gran Reserva wines are the product of a careful selection of Siegel's best vineyards in the Colchagua Valley, harvested by hand, and revealing a strong expression of the land.
Deep ruby red with aromas of cassis, red fruits, black pepper, black cherries, tobacco, cinnamon and chocolate. On the palate it is highly concentrated with juicy notes of red fruits and spices. Structured & complex from the oak aging.

Vineyard manager Blake Wood emphasises identifying blocks within areas like the ‘P Neighborhood’ of the To Kalon site, divided into distinct parcels. Sondraia is the flagship Bordeaux blend from Poggio al Tesoro, the Allegrini family's estate in Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast. A Bolgheri Superiore of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc — ripe, structured, and Mediterranean, with cassis, herb, and a saline lift.
Review:
Blackcurrants, violets, pine needles, bark, and dark chocolate. Medium- to full-bodied with refined and polished tannins and a long and beautiful finish. The finish is fantastic with a crunchy character and hints of dark chocolate. Best after 2025 but already a joy to taste.

The nose is all pepper and savory spices at first, before black cherries, currants and a bit of dark chocolate pop through. The berries and chocolate take over on the palate, but the wine is anchored by a savory salinity and more peppery heat. A wine that overdelivers for its price point.

The Poggio al Tesoro 2020 Bolgheri Superiore Sondraia (in a heavy bottle) is a big wine on all levels, with dark fruit, spicy bay leaf, exotic curry leaf, rose, tea and barbecued spice. The wine is actually quite rich, broad and textured in terms of mouthfeel. No part of the palate is untouched, as it is swept over with sweet tannins and very generous fruit. It is almost too much of good thing, with a 15% alcohol content. This is a production of 45,000 bottles.

Displaying a dark red/garnet color, the 2020 Sondraia is made from 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc. It’s forward with oak-spiced aromas of toasted vanilla bean, cedar, cassis, sage, and black licorice. Full-bodied, it’s surprisingly light on its feet, with evenly balanced acidity, a supple texture, and ripe tannins. Its oak needs time to integrate, as it’s quite forward as well on the palate, but for a luxurious style, it’s going to do well if cellared appropriately. Drink 2026-2040.
