La Despensa Boutique Cinsault is made from 100% Cinsault.
A genuinely unique wine - they are the only producers of Cinsault in Colchagua! From a new vineyard planted in 2017, the team at La Despensa thinks they’ve hit the jackpot with this variety in this valley. Much more structure, color and intensity than the typical Chilean Cinsaults from further south, this is an easy drinking but serious version of this wonderfully fruity variety!
On the nose, it opens with mineral hints of flint, followed by sweet spices such as nutmeg. Citrusy notes of bergamot then emerge, together with delicate floral nuances and hints of rosehip. On the palate, it shows a sweet and juicy entry, with a medium to full body. It is warm and spicy, with a slightly piquant edge. Freshness balances the structure nicely, while the fruity finish, recalling ripe plums, is savory and persistent. It displays good softness and an overall sense of balance and harmony
Review:
A restrained wine with a graceful nose of subtle red cherries, wild strawberries, sweet violets and complex earth and tamarind. Full-bodied with licorice flavors, a dense mid-palate and velvety tannins that are powerful yet ripe. Slightly lifted acidity and a long,chewy finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2027.
