Our ancestors emigrated from Germany – from near Bremen – in 1650, and we have been cultivating the vine and making wine at our current location in Senftenberg since 1738. Our estate is located at the gateway to the winegrowing region Kremstal, which connects the Wachau with the landscape of deeply carved river valleys, articulated by forest and rock, typical of Austria’s Waldviertel region.
Thanks to the depth and duration of the family’s roots in the neighbourhood, we have compiled a great deal of knowledge regarding the steeply sloped vineyards here.
A vibrant and practical tradition has evolved out of the dynamic tension between the collected experience of generations and our curiosity about everything worth knowing.
We regard ourselves as craftsmen, as mountain viticulturalists with rich past behind us and a creative present day.

Proidl Senftenberg Riesling Ried Ehrenfels 1er Cru Kremstal is made from 100 percent Riesling
A concentrated and dense, almost introverted wine made from perfect clusters. Constructed without any ornamentation or hastiness. For connoisseurs who like to leave the vinous beaten path and go exploring.
From a monopol vineyard
The physiologically fully ripened grapes are harvested by hand in several passes at the end of October and beginning of November. A portion of the grapes is destemmed and left on the skins for 10–12 hours of maceration. The leisurely fermentation with ambient yeasts in stainless steel promotes a multilayered expressivity. Bronzite, marble, paragneiss & amphibolite give the wine its great complexity and individuality. After fermentation, extended maturing on the lees in a large wooden cask before bottling at the end of August.
In Austrian wine, "1 ÖTW" refers to the "erste Lage" (first location) quality tier of the Österreichische Traditionsweingüter (ÖTW), an association of quality-focused wineries that classify their wines from single vineyards in specific regions, similar to German vineyard classifications. Wines labeled with "1 ÖTW" represent high-quality wines from a recognized single vineyard site within a participating ÖTW region, like Kamptal or Kremstal.

This incredibly youthful and concentrated dry Riesling is a cool customer and needs a lot of aeration to reveal its great depths. Very delicate peach and apricot fruit with notes of chamomile and wild herbs. Really structured but also polished on the compact, medium-bodied palate. Extremely long, stony finish. Sustainable. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

The 2023 Riesling Ehrenfels has a nose that blends some residual yeasty funk with the most gorgeous pink grapefruit. The palate follows suit in absolute zestiness, aroma and citrus thrill - whoa. This is exciting, linear and oh-so aromatic. This pure, unmitigated, hair-raising rendition of Riesling is uncompromising in its attitude and purity. (Bone-dry)

Gessinger Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Alte Reben Caldo Infernale made from 100 percent Riesling.
The Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Caldo Infernale was produced from over 100-year-old ungrafted vines in the Gewann “im Kalk,” the original part of the vineyard. This is a typical Devonian slate Riesling with fruity elegance and great durability.
Although riper elements of yellow peach, coconut, Victoria pineapple, and almond cream directly capture the attention, the nose maintains a fresh character with minty and zesty notes. The wine shows ripe and sweet elements on the palate, and has quite some creamy and juicy elements such as canned yellow peach and pineapple. The finish brings the right amount of zest to lift up the aromatics and adds focus and tension, while there is an almost Eiswein-type of acidity in the aftertaste. This is a gorgeous Auslese.

Proidl Gruner Veltliner Ried Hausberg Kremstal DAC is made from 100 percent Gruner Veltliner.
Medium yellow green colour with silver reflections. Ripe tropical fruits, a bit of candied clementines, a bit of apricot, dark minerality, inviting bouquet. Juicy, elegant, fine acidity, mineral and salty, a touch of yellow apples, lingers long, versatile.

Paul Hobbs ALH Cabernet Sauvignon is made from 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc.
This wine presents the eye with a magenta hue and a vibrant ruby red rim. The nose offers up an inviting bouquet of ripe red cherry, damp earth, and nuances of fresh violet. The palate is elegantly structured, with harmonious layers of fine-grained tannins and refreshing acidity. Field Selection comes entirely from the Drew Estate on the Mendocino Ridge, planted to heritage Pinot Noir selections — including material traced back to Vosne-Romanee — on iron- and shale-rich seafloor soils at around 1,200 feet. Fermented with 100% native yeast and raised roughly eighteen months in about 20% new French oak, it's a cool-climate Pinot of lift and detail.
