Wine from Rheingau

Rheingau is a wine region in Germany that is named after the traditional region and translates to, “Rhine District.” Located in the state of Hessee, Rheingau is part of the Theingau-Taunus-Kreis administrative district. Although the region only makes up 3% of the German vineyard area, it historically significant, and includes many producer that have an international reputation. There were 7,720 acres of vineyards in 2008 with 78.8% being Riesling. Pinot Noir and Muller-Thurgau make up the rest. The region is best known for its small viticulture sites, perfect microclimate, and amazing landscape. Reheingau has a cool-continental climate with an annual temperature of 50° and only 21” of rainfall per year. Located on the River Rhine next to the villages of Lorch, and Assmannshause, Rheingau is almost 50 kilometers long, and rises to the Taunus Mountain Range. Most of the vineyards are located on the slopes facing south between the mountains and river, which makes for excellent wine-growing conditions. As early as the 12th century, grapes were planted in Rheingau. There was more red than white wine produced during this time and it was usually Gemischter Satz. During Medieval times there was more red wine produced and was usually Gemischter Satz. The Rheingau region is known for late harvest wine.

The Eiswein has aromas of concentrated yellow fruit and a fruity sweetness. It's a high end product with a very long aging potential.
The grapes were picked frozen which resulted in a concentration of sugar, acidity and aromas and a low yield.

“This wine expresses a focused balancing act of dark, rich black fruit, and a fine tannin structure, illuminated through the core with a laser-like acidity. The wine displays a deep purple-red hue with a cranberry halo. Aromas of cassis, cinnamon, citrus oil, roasted meat, and lilac swell from the glass.
“The palate is marked by a wave of jet-black brambly fruit up front, followed by an exotic spice mid-palate and a long, complex finish that lasts and lasts expressing notes of flowering jasmine, and oolong tea. Coming from the Winfield Vineyard in Calistoga, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is another brilliant wine from the hands of winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown. This deep purple-colored effort boasts tons of blueberry and jammy blackberry fruits as well a medium to full-bodied, concentrated, yet elegant style on the palate. It has the purity of fruit that’s the hallmark of the vintage, ripe, sweet tannins, and no hard edges, and is already hard to resist.

Mount Veeder Winery Cabernet Sauvignon is made from 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 2% Malbec, 1% Cabernet Franc.
The Mount Veeder Winery Cabernet Sauvignon is a deep ruby color. Aromas of black plum, blackberry, fig and ripe cherry, framed by toasted oak and caramel. A hint of dried herb and floral notes. The concentrated fruit flavors and integrated tannins introduce a rich, full-body structure. Sweet fruit is balanced with acidity and savory notes of leather and wet stone, ending with a lengthy finish of dark berry, baking spice, and mocha.
Crafted in celebration of our 50th anniversary, the 2023 Mount Veeder Winery Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is thoughtfully sourced from premier vineyards across Napa Valley, including fruit from our mountain estate.
