Ribera del Duero is a wine region that is located in the Castilla y León community in northern Spain. Known for red wines, the best examples are popular all over the globe. Situated on the elevated northern plateau on the Iberian Peninsula the vineyards reach 2800 feet above sea level. Divided by the Duero River, the water provides much needed supply to the local vineyards. The region covers 20,500 hectares with 240 vineyards producing 60 million liters of wine every year.
It was not until the early 1980’s, that the region received recognition thanks to the aggressive fruity deeply colored red wines. Although vines have been grown in Ribera del Duero for thousands of years.
The soils are nearly perfect in the region. Alluvial with clay and sand lies close to the river with the soil in the western region being mixed with gypsum, marl, and limestone. The eastern part of Ribera del Duero has soil that is comprised of limestone, marl, and clay.
The inland location of the region allows for extreme climate conditions that range from harsh and cold winters to hot and dry summers. The daytime temperatures are coupled with cooler nights, which make for optimum accumulation of aromas in the grapes.

The grapes for this wine come from loamy, well-drained soils on our estate vineyard. Dijon and Wente clones are fermented in stainless steel and aged in French oak. This is an elegant chardonnay with a focused mid-palate and the refreshing cool climate acidity characteristic of Sea Smoke Vineyard.
Tasting Notes An elegant Chardonnay with aromas of lemon curd, star fruit, fresh cut peach and wet stone. Complemented by satsuma mandarins and a touch of hazelnut in the focused mid-palate and the refreshing cool climate acidity of our estate vineyard. Winemaking Our estate-grown Chardonnay fruit was picked and hand-sorted in the vineyard before spending the night in our cold room. Chilled grapes were softly pressed and the juice was gently pumped into a stainless steel tank and cold settled. Once the heavy solids were removed, the juice was racked to a stainless steel fermenter, then inoculated for primary fermentation. Following primary fermentation, the wine was racked to barrels, inoculated for malolactic fermentation, then periodically stirred to enhance depth and mouthfeel. The 2023 Sea Smoke Chardonnay was aged for a total of 10 months prior to bottling with no fining and no filtration.
Bernard Cote Rotie Cote Brune is made from 100% Syrah. Wine was aged in French oak barrels for 16 months (25% new)
Like its little sister (Côte Rôzier) the Côte Brune is a 100% Syrah with a beautiful dark and brilliant color. The nose shows grilled and toasted notes and is completed by small red and black fruits. It is a wine with a very good length, nice complexity, finesse, and firm tannins. Its ageing in barrels for 16 months, 25% of which are new, brings a real balance to this wine. A very pleasant, elegant and modern wine that can be cellared for many years.
