Sercial is a white grape variety used to create medium-bodied sweet wines, such as Bual & Terrantez and Malvasia. Sercial is mainly grown in the island of Madeira, Portugal and is found in small quantities. After phylloxera ravished the vineyards in Madeira, the grape started to grow more widespread on Portugal’s mainland, where it is called Esgana or Esgana Cao. Sercial ripens late in the year, which contributes to the grape variety’s high acid level. The name Sercial is thought to be related with the Madeira style rather than the grape variety itself, and is a very acidic and light type of Madeira wine that takes the longest to mature. Sercial grapes are harvested late in the year and at least 20 years of aging is required for the vintage Sercial Madeiras wine. The long aging process makes sure that the acidity of the wine is toned down and softened. When the vintage wine is mature, the color has a yellowish tawny tone and is similar to the smell of vintage Riesling wines. Sercial is the driest type of Madeira, and can contain up to 1.5 percent residual sugar. Sercial is also growing in popularity because of its perfume flavors.

Carmo Vinhos Madeira Sercial 10 Yr is the driest style of Madeira, a light bodied wine with a distinctive nutty nose. An excellent apertif. The concentration at this age has produced a very attractive and interesting wine, with a long finish.

J. Lohr Signature Cabernet Sauvignon was first produced to honor the 80th birthday of founder Jerry Lohr. This limited release was specially selected and blended from the exceptional 2016 vintage in Paso Robles. It is both a tribute to Jerry's pioneering efforts in the region and our red wine portfolio's ultimate expression of Cabernet Sauvignon. VINEYARDS & CELLAR Beck Vineyard, in the Creston District of Paso Robles, is a unique, high elevation site that sits at 1,700 feet above the early morning fog line. Its calcareous soils and cooling afternoon winds are perfect for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cabernet from this vineyard ripens early with excellent color, purity of fruit, and phenolic maturity. Incorporation of Cabernet Franc brings freshness to the blend, while the rare Bordeaux variety, Saint Macaire, brings density and a savory character. Petit Verdot and Malbec add structure, color, and a component of bright fruit. The hand-harvested grapes were held separate at harvest and berry-sorted into six-ton open top tanks for fermentation. Maceration took place on the skins for five days, before early pressing to achieve ideal tannin extraction. Aged 19 months in 100% new French oak from coopers Nadalie and Sylvain.

Almost opaque in the glass, this luxury bottling entices with intense aromas of black currant and blackberry sauce on the nose, with savory hints of dark olive and caramel spice. It's quite dry on the palate, where licorice, violet and cassis flavors linger amidst the polished tannins

Verite Le Desir Red is made from 83% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot, 5% Malbec, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon.
2019 Le Désir has a rich violet hue, ringed by a slender rim of incandescent purple-ruby color. Beautifully characteristic of Cabernet Franc, the aromatics of this wine are expressive and exotic, showing fresh rose petal perfume, fresh cherry blossom, California bay laurel, crushed pomegranate, blackberry coulis, and well-integrated French oak aromas of ground cinnamon, and brown buttered toast. On the palate, a robust structure defined by powdery tannins and lively acidity delivers a very fine balance, with an exceptionally long finish.

Sublime cabernet franc aromas of currants, flowers and citrus. Full-bodied with incredible purity of fruit and length. You don’t feel the tannins, but they are there. The acidity gives you dynamic reality and perfect length. A truly great wine. 83% cabernet franc, 8% merlot, 5% malbec, and 4% cabernet sauvignon. Best from 2026.

The 2019 Le Désir is just as stunning as the first time I tasted it from bottle. It's pure and layered, with alluring scents of Morello cherries, dried mushrooms, cigars, sage and aniseed wafting from the glass. The palate strikes a fine balance of concentrated fruit, loads of powdery tannins, and energetic bursts of fresh acidity. It has a deep core of concentrated, perfumed fruit with the first faint touches of umami character and a long finish driven by floral and iron tones. I can't get enough of this wine!
