Shiraz is an affordable red wine that is sometimes referred to as Syrah, which is the name of the grape that Shiraz is made from. The Syrah grape variety grows in the French Rhone Valley, but it is the most cultivated and planted red wine grape variety in Australia. This grape is now so popular in Australia, it is known as the Australian grape.
