There are more vineyards in the region of Sicily than any other in wine region in Italy; it ties with Apulia as the largest wine producer in the country. Surprisingly, Sicilians drink less wine per capita than other Italians. Sicily is renowned all over the world for world-famous desert wines such as Marsala.
The viticultural area in Sicily is larger than Tuscany, Veneto, or Piedmont and produces hearty wines that are used to fortify the weaker reds and whites in northern Italy. The heart of the region lies between Marsala and Salemi, with the viticultural region extending from the suburbs of Marsala south-eastward toward Menfi, with ancient Greek sites of Selinunte and Segesta framing the region.
The climate in Sicily is similar to Australia and California, with rich soil and arid and hot conditions. Located in the Sun Belt, the climate is manipulated by the Mediterranean Sea, and the African winds.
The Greeks are credited with introducing viticulture to Sicily in 600 BC, and brought several grape varieties during colonization, but the Phoenicians raised grapes as well bringing several varieties to the flat coastal areas. There is also evidence that the Elmi, Sicily’s native peoples, raised indigenous grapes producing local wine.
Sicily produces more wine annually than Australia, Hungary, and New Zealand combined.

Ruby red with soft purplish reflections. Rich and complex on the nose, very reminiscent of small fruits of brambles, black cherry and a very delicate hint of softwood. On the palate it is decisive, complex and extraordinarily persistent.

Straw yellow colored with hints of almonds, vanilla and ripe fruit notes on the nose. On the taste, it is very rich in savoriness and freshness.
No irrigation. Hand harvest at the end of october.

Destemming and soft pressing into a pneumatic press (Extraction of the 60% of the Juice, Mosto Fiore).
60% of the juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks and 40% was fermented in French Oak barriques (no new oak, only second use barrels).

Ferrata Punta Drago Etna Rosso is made from 100% Nerello Mascalese.
Pale ruby red color, elegant bouquet of red berries, spicy notes and underbrush. Great structure, silky tannins, soft and elegant.
Suitable with hors d'oeuvres of cured meats, aged cheese, meat dishes but also fish recipes.
Ti Cuntu… means “I will tell you a story…” in Sicilian dialect and it refers to the ability of the wines made from these native grapes to tell the story of their terroir and of their history. The label shows the dry stone walls and the wild myrtle which characterize their territory.
Frappato is a rare native grape of Vittoria and is almost exclusively grown in Eastern Sicily. The vineyards lie on the sides of Mont Iblei at 300 meters above sea level on a south-west exposure. The relatively infertile terrain encourages the concentrated structure with a light color and beautiful aromatics. Irrigation is generally avoided. There are 4,000 plants per hectare. Agriculture is sustainable and no herbicides or pesticides are used and wild herbs fill the vineyard rows.
Color: Light cherry red with garnet reflections.
Bouquet: A ripe strawberry, black cherry, roses and violets fill the bouquet along with notes of blackberries, raspberries and blueberries.
Taste: Fresh and berry-filled with an intriguing root beer note. The tannins are refined and the acidity lively. The finish is notable and long.
Excellent with cold meats and salamis, seafood and light pasta dishes.
Tenute Mannino Etna Bianco Aurantica is made from 80% Carricante and 20% Catarratto.
Carricante and Catarratto collected at the volcano’s feet united in this blend that is appreciated in expressing all the strength and charm of Etna. It has a straw-yellow color with light golden reflections and a beautiful light. The nose is elegant with notes of citrus but also flint and ginger. The taste is very easy to drink and highlights the mineral component, well balanced in all its parts.
Pair with fish ceviche, appetizer, grilled fish and grilled vegetable. Also delicious with goat cheese.

Tenuta di Nozzole La Forra Chianti Classico Riserva is made from 100% Sangiovese.
Located north of the village of Greve in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, the Nozzole estate covers a striking, rugged, mountainous area of about 1,000 acres at 984 feet in elevation. In order to obtain concentration and complexity in the wine, yields are kept low. The grapes are hand harvested, destemmed and crushed. Fermentation is initiated on the skins in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by a maceration period to draw out color and tannins. The wine is racked into stainless steel tanks for malolactic fermentation before aging in oak vats and in bottle before release. The wine is bottled on the estate.
The 2020 vintage was characterized by a basically cold period between April and May and by a generally warm and dry climate until July. The initial slight delay of the vegetative cycle has been recovered since the summer. The sudden increase in temperatures, especially for the later varieties where the fruit set had not yet ended, has favored a production characterized by sparse and light bunches. The stable and sunny climate of the months of August and September allowed the grapes to complete ripening in optimal conditions.
