Site: Located in the Petaluma Gap region; West facing hillside of Sonoma Mountain; multiple exposures.
Soils: Goulding Cobbley Loam
Yield: 2.3 tons/acre

Hand-harvested grapes 
Fermented with native yeast
Extended period of cold soak and maceration
Hand-punched cap
Native malolactic fermentation in barrels
Aged 9 months in Damy, Francois Freres, Radoux, and Cadus French oak barrels; 50% new.
Unfined and unfiltered.

Blackberry, pomegranate nose with rich earthy notes. White pepper in the front of the nose with hints of cocoa. Entry bright, clean dark fruit, wild berry, acid, complexity and a rounded volume that leaves a lingering sensation of vanilla and fruit.

Trombetta Family Wines first vintage of Pinot Noir is from the GAP'S CROWN VINEYARD located on the western slope of Sonoma Mountain. We have selected three clones of Pinot Noir that we feel exemplify the rich minerality, soils and cool weather from the Petaluma Gap. This vineyard is pristinely maintained. At harvest, Rickey works the night picks alongside the crew. Armed with blue shop towels, she ensures that each macro bin is clean and dry before the fruit arrives. Leaves are painstakingly pulled along with any botrytised fruit.

2011 Harvest Notes:
Although slightly warmer than 2010, the 2011 season was recorded as a cool growing season with extended hang time. Lower than average fruit meant extra vigilance in the vineyard in order to determine the perfect harvest date. On October 2, we began harvesting at 1a.m., working quickly to load the truck before rain-- which would last for 2 days -- began to fall around 7 a.m.

2010 Harvest Notes:
2010 was a cool year with a heat spike towards the end of the growing season, giving the Pinot Noir a long ripening period and time for the grapes to develop. The fruit set was well balanced in the vineyard, and a close eye was kept for ideal harvesting parameters as the season drew to a close.

Patton Valley Lorna Marie Pinot Noir 2012

This wine keeps the Lorna-Marie tradition going strong. Reminiscent of the multitude of aromas from a fruit stand, the Lorna-Marie abounds with scents of fresh-picked strawberries, Bing cherries, rose petals, and spiced plum, with a touch of salty sea air and black pepper. On the palate, the wine shows great weight with a viscous, velvet-like texture, and layer upon layer of ripe red and black fruit flavors. This wine possesses a striking backbone of acidity, yet marries beautifully with the soft, creamy tannins, lingering with astounding length. Enjoy now or save for 5-12 years.

Trombetta Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is 100% Pinot Noir
Limited production Pinot Noir featuring hand-harvested fruit. Working under the guidance of renown winemaker Paul Hobbs, we select clones of Pinot Noir that exemplify the rich minerality, soils and cool weather of the Sonoma Coast, resulting in a beautifully balanced wine, enhancing every meal.
Production: 500 cases
Alcohol: 14.2 %
Vineyards: Peterson Vineyard and Yellow Rock Vineyard. Located in the Petaluma Gap region of the Sonoma Coast. Soils consisting of Coastal sandy loam.
winemaking: Hand harvested grapes. Fermented with native yeast. Extented period of cold soak and macreation. Hand-punched cap. Native malolactic fermentation in barrels. Aged 9 months in Damy, Francois Freres, Radoux, and Cadus French oak barrels; 50% new.
Unfined and unfiltered.
 
Light red fruit, cranberry, raspberry, dried fruit/herbs. Slight aroma of vanilla cream from oak, good acid, medium bodied, bright fruit and finish. Crisp earthy undertones and terroir.

 


Review:

From a newish, small producer that's worth keeping an eye on, this wine is earthy and slightly cloudy, balanced in nature. Wild strawberry and cranberry are pitted smoothly against firm, medium-bodied tannins and oak. The finish is crisp and juicy. -Wine Enthusiast 91 Points

The Bryson Barrel Select Red 2012

This limited release wine is created from the fusion of two exceptional parcels of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. This classic blend is matured in the finest oak crafting an intriguing unison that captures the essence of the vineyard and highlights its unique varietal expression.

Vintage Overview
2012 was a very good season with predominantly mild, dry days. Yields were generally low and this did result in some excellent parcels of fruit being harvested. Vine-balance was carefully monitored, resulting in fruit that demonstrates the vibrancy and fruit-derived characters that the family strives for in its wines. By all accounts it was a textbook vintage.

Tasting Notes
Deep inky purple in color. Aromas of blackberry, mocha, mint and spices. Lush, ripe palate dominated by black fruits, cherry and chocolate. An expansive palate with black fruits and nicely balanced by oak.

Made with the greatest dedication and care, select parcels were matured in new and seasoned French and American oak for up to 20 months prior to being selected for this blend. Individual barrels from our family estate that best demonstrate the intensity of our fruit, balanced by integrated oak were selected for the final blend, which was then bottled with minimal filtration.
