The Bodegas Pinord Estate
Bodegas Pinord is a family run and operated winery with a long winemaking tradition of over a hundred and fifty years, when the Tetas family started producing white and red wines in Sant Cugat de Sesgarrigues. Today, three generations are working side by side at the winery.
In 1942, Josep Tetas established the current Bodega in Vilafranca del Penedès, in the Catalonia region (D.O. Penedès), just four kilometers from the original estate. The name "Pinord" is derived from a "Pi del Nord" (pine of the north) which used to stand there.
Vilafranca del Penedès is located in between Barcelona and Tarragona, and is covered in the north by the Montserrat Mountains, and in the south by the coast of Sitges and Salou.
The Bodegas Pinord Vineyard
The vineyard measures 100 hectares (247 acres) and include the sites of Montanyans, El Serral and Coll de Bou.
The grapes grown are: Xarel.lo, Macabeo, Parellada and Chardonnay for the whites, and Tempranillo, Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot for the reds. Bodegas Pinord was the pioneer in the introduction of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in the Penedès region.
The soil types vary from clay, limestone to sand, and require that the vines are planted at different depths. The Mediterranean climate is mild in winter and summer, and the valleys in the south benefit from the little rainfall.

Tasting Notes
he word "Balade", French for "Wandering," is a fitting term for Belle Glos' annual exploration of single-vineyard pinot noir tracts on the west coast. As such, each vintage is very limited.
This Pinot Noir opens with aromas of blackberry, cherry, and delicate floral notes mingling with hints of cedar and baking spice. On the palate, you’ll experience layers of dark plum, juicy black raspberry, and subtle undertones of cocoa and vanilla, all wrapped in a plush, silky texture. Soft tannins and a balanced acidity contribute to a smooth, lingering finish, making it a perfect match for grilled meats, roasted vegetables, or simply as a luxurious glass to enjoy on its own.
Review:
This appellation is an ideal place to produce this brand's bold style of Pinot Noir, as elegance persists with power. In this bottling, aromas of black plum, blackberry and mahogany lead into a rich, creamy palate layered in wild mint, pepper and dark fruit. A searing acidity leads into a candied vanilla finish.
