The Obvio Estate
Viña Obvio is a brand new venture inspired by the typicity of the main grape varietals of the Valle de Uco. Its founder Richard James, a Welshman with ten years experience in the Argentine wine business and a judge in some of the world’s most prestigious wine competitions, has joined forces with British and Argentine investors to produce export quality wines.
Individuality, quality, value for money and a powerfully entertaining and eye-catching concept is what the company wants to achieve.
The Obvio Vineyard
Argentina is characterized by its wide valleys and sloping plains which dominate the country’s wine producing regions, whose main attributes are altitude and natural purity (the diseases that usually affect vines are not frequent in this region because of its dry climate). All vineyards are located in unpolluted places, far away from population centers.
Mendoza is the most important wine-producing province in Argentina, producing more than 80% of Argentina’s wine. Well inside the first mountainsides of the Andes’ foothills, the Uco Valley presents the highest altitudes at which wines are produced in the province of Mendoza: up to 1,400 meters (4,593 feet) above sea level. The reasons why this region is so coveted are its thermal amplitude and high solar radiation levels. The combination of these factors results in slow and balanced ripening cycles. Thus, both white and red varieties give forth their primary varietal characteristics.

My First comment tasting this wine is "wow!" It's delicious; our flagship wine at Paradigm and it delivers. Dense, deep, ripe aromas of black berry and black cherry-like fruit layered with caramel and toastiness from a nice mix of French Oak barrels. Flavors coat the palate with matching notes in a classic Cabernet Sauvignon presentation. One of our best Cabs to date!
Paradigm Cabernet Sauvignon is made from 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot , 1% Petit Verdot
Review:
"Owned and managed by the Harris family, Paradigm winery produced its first vintage in 1991 in Oakville with winemaker Heidi Barrett. A self-contained winery estate with 50 acres of vineyards, Paradigm maintains a hands-on approach to all winemaking and vineyard operations. The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon consists of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, and is aged in both new and used French oak for 20 months, then aged a further 20 months in bottle before release. The total production for this vintage was 5,544 bottles." Torello Corpinnat Finca Can Marti Brut 32% Chardonnay, 32% Xarel.lo, 22% Macabeo and 14% Parellada.
The Can Martí estate soils have been formed from sediments from the Garraf Massis, deposited thousands of years ago. One of the most characteristic features of the estate’s soils is the presence of accumulations of calcium carbonate. The movement of water through the soil dissolves the carbonates present and takes them to a certain depth. The continuous repetition of this process has ended up producing the accumulation of these deposits. When these become massive, after thousands of years, they bind together and and form a hard stratum called a petrocalcic horizon. This hard stratum limits the availbility of water to the vine and the production, but is a factor that gives the grape quality.
Straw yellow color, fine and constant bubbles, clean and bright, with golden reflections. The nose reveals a subtle aromatic intensity with fresh and sweet aromas. Honey flowers, citrus notes, white fruit, and balsamic herbs such as fennel.
In the mouth the acidity is well balanced, with delicate bitter notes to the finish and a set of ripe fruits and balsamic nuances.
