Sardegna- The Italian island of Sardegna is the second largest in the Mediterranean Sea, following Sicily. The capital city is Sardinia. Sardina is home to the Vermentino variety and hosts the DOCG Vermentino di Gallura. Also produced in Sardegna is the Moscato di Tempio DOC, Malvasia di Bosa DOC, Cannonau (Grenache) DOC, Vernaccia di Oristano DOC, Nuragus di Cagliari DOC, Monica di Cagliari DOC, Carignano del Sulcis DOC, as well as the Nebbiolo, Torbato, and Nepente di Oliena varieties. The soils are rich in granite, limestone, sandstone, as well as mineral rich clays, free-draining sands and gravels. The Mediterranean Sea provides cooler temperatures in Sardinia viticulture. It is said the culture on the island is nowhere near as wine-oriented as mainland Italy. The island displays influences from neighboring Spain more so than Italy. The effects are reflected in their wines and grape varieties.

Reviews:
From the best lots on the Golden- eye Estate, this wine aged in French oak for 16 months. Scents of wild cherry and sage are off the charts. Undeniable vibrancy, generous fruit, and floral notes create a mael- strom of flavor and texture that complements the wine's intensely high energy. Earthy, salty notes manifest in a kiss of soil, balsamic, cinnamon, and cedar.

A beautiful blend of the best barrels of all the single vineyards and it shows wonderful complexity and thoughtfulness. Layered and complete, giving you so much flavor and deliciousness.

Paul Hobbs George Menini Estate Pinot Noir is made from 100 percent Pinot Noir.
Brilliant ruby red in the glass, the 2022 vintage follows the color with matching aromas of wild mountain strawberry, raspberry, and cherry infused with hints of black tea. On the palate, this wine has the texture of thick satin, evolving seamlessly with subtle energy and pleasant tension. Elegant, fine-grained tannins run through a lingering, juicy finish.
Review:
Wow, a super well-structured, vital wine with oodles of generous black fruit flavors on a firm frame that will help it age well and improve with time. Black cherries, blackberries, blueberries, forest floor nuances and a slight smoky, stemmy character from using mostly Calera-clone grapes, with 15% whole clusters and 30% new French oak. Great interplay between layered fruit and a fresh, crunchy texture. Drinkable now, but best from 2030.
