TUSCAN TERROIR. CHIANTI SOUL. Il Molino di Grace is, simply, the taste of Tuscany. Located in the heart of the Chianti region, Il Molino di Grace is an alluring and authentic capture of Chianti Classico soil, grapes, climate, tradition and innovation. The winery of Il Molino di Grace – the ‘windmill of grace’ – stands upon 30 hectares of vineyards that have been producing traditional Chianti Classico wines for over 350 years, and is complete with an historic 19th century windmill and world-class sculptures. The Frank Grace family is a passionate caretaker of this fabled tradition of making critically acclaimed Tuscan wines that celebrate the idyllic marriage of Tuscan terroir and Sangiovese grapes.
A STEEPED TRADITION CONTINUES Il Molino di Grace is steeped in the historic Chianti Classico tradition producing old world Classico and Super-Tuscan wines for the modern age. Founded by Frank Grace in the 1990’s, the winery of Il Molino di Grace was built with a simple vision: to bottle the most authentic expression of this rocky terroir and succulent Sangiovese fruit that the picturesque Chianti hills deserve. The vineyards that now produce Il Molino di Grace’s wine having been doing so for over three and half centuries. Harvested first by monks from the local monastary, these Chianti Classico vineyards have awed winemakers and wine enthusiasts every harvest since. Today, an awe-inspiring 9 meter statue tall of an out-stretched, sun and moon holding San Francesco della Vigne stands proud over the rolling vines, blessing all those who have toiled and will toil in this Galestro soil. The winery’s active founders, Frank Grace and his two sons Tim & Dan, instilled and infused the science and technology of modern organic wine production with the artful tradition of old world wine making. Il Molino di Grace celebrates this delicate balance of creativity and innovation – the rocky, sloping south facing fields that bear the Sangiovese fruit, the cellar produces it, the artwork showcases it, and the wines embody it.

I feel this wine expresses the greatness of California and its hidden pockets where Cabernet can excel. The cold Pacific Ocean running the entire length of the state presents maritime influences – and with each small distance eastward the climate warms. Stony soils, south facing slopes and moderately warm conditions are the keys to producing dark, rich and good tasting Cabernet.
A small release from Caymus Vineyards, this wine is a California-appellation Cabernet Sauvignon – supple, dark and rich, bearing the signature hallmarks of Caymus. It is sourced from sites throughout the state which feature climatic conditions, soils and topography that are ideally suited to Cabernet. This project stems from excitement over California's diverse vineyard land, often in lesser-known areas, with the potential to produce exceptional Cabernet.
Dense purple hues, with evocative aromas of black cherries, ripe plums, nectarines, boysenberry, wild bramble and exotic oak spice. The juicy and sweet-fruited palate entry, combined with crunchy tannins, lures one into a sense of overtness, yet the wine is sublimely elegant and poised. The complex layers of fruit is in perfect harmony with the oak, all bound together by a lively seam of acidity. The finish is pleasantly dry and savory, with lingering notes of Christmas cake and vanilla pod.
