When you taste a Château du Retout wine, you use all five of your senses: the sense of touch when you pick up the bottle to gauge its temperature, the sense of hearing which allows you to enjoy the sound of he popping of the cork and the wine being poured into the glass, and then, of course, you use your senses of sight, smell and taste when you drink the wine:
The Médoc grape varieties and soils give us wines with superb, dense, dark hues, ranging from deep garnet to ruby-crimson, taking on brick red shades with orange tints with age.
Very intense and expressive aromas with powerful notes of black fruit such as blackcurrants and blackberries. In older wines, the nose develops a spicy bouquet of liquorice, leather and marshmallow mingled with the vanilla scents created by well-integrated oak.
Harmonious, elegant and velvety, with smooth, round tannins, that can be appreciated from the wine's entry to the palate through to the finish. These are delightfully full-bodied wines with great aromatic persistence.

Sociando Mallet Haut-Medoc is made from 53% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Cabernet Franc.
Château Sociando-Mallet produces full-bodied wines with a deep, dark color. The complex bouquet is dominated by red and black fruit aromas with a touch of minerality, floral and spicy notes. Fresh, harmonious and nicely balanced in the mouth with a solid tannic structure and good acidity that promises a long aging potential. The mid-palate is pleasant with a nice density of fruit. A silky and fruity finish.
Red meat, dishes in sauce, poultry, strong goat or cow cheeses.

Deep and refined nose, with blackcurrants, cocoa powder and plenty of graphite. A more complete Sociando- Mallet here, with full body and tight- wound, chalky tannins. Powerful but really tensioned and long. 53% merlot, 46% cabernet sauvignon and 1% cabernet franc. Drink from 2027. From a vertical tasting at the winery.

Chateau Castegens Cotes de Bordeaux Castillon is made from 80% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The wine boasts an intense, deep and lively red color. The nose offers black fruit, blackberry, cigar box, licorice, some delicate and integrated oak flavors as well. The mouth is full of fruit flavors, spice and fine toasty flavors. The structure is rich, but the tannins are well integrated already. The finish is long and a slight mintiness give the wine a great length and some purity.
Pairs great with meat and vegetables on the grill.

The 2019 Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux Vieilles Vignes has a terrific nose of classic limestone-influenced red and black fruits as well as leather, truffly earth, and tobacco notes. This medium-bodied, round, balanced Castillon has ripe tannins, good mid-palate depth, and a solid finish. The blend is 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc, aged 12 months in used barrels. The 2019 d'Aiguilhe has a really lovely bouquet of ample black cherry, mulberry and light floral scents, very pure and delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with cedar-infused red fruit. While not as exuberant as the aromatics, this is nicely detailed and quite poised on the finish. No, I still cannot pronounce its name, but this Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux is well worth seeking out. - Neal Martin

Black cherries, spicy oak, chalky minerality, and hints of white truffle all emerge from the 2019 Château D'Aiguilhe, an elegant, beautifully balanced, seamless 2019 from the Castillon region. It has plenty of ripeness, medium body, present tannins, and the balance and class to keep for 10-15 years.

Chateau Pitray Castillon Cotes de Bordeaux Le Grand Vin is made from 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc.
Notes of candied fruit, dried figs, currants marked by their delicacy despite the sensation of great maturity. On the palate, we find this aromatic range with present but very velvety tannins.
Ageing: partially in new oak barrels, partially 1 and 2 years old barrels and stainless steel tanks.Vinification: thermo-regulated concrete tank.

Harvest: last generation harvesting machine with on-board grape selection.

Produced from 90% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc, the wine is medium-bodied, soft, supple and creamy, with sweetness to the fruits and a touch of licorice on the backend. Drink from 2023-2032. This is the new high-end wine from Château de Pitray from Nina Mitjavile. Drink from 2025-2038.

The Grand Vin 2022 Château Pitray Classique is all Merlot and spent 18 months in one-third new French oak. Black cherries, cigars, smoked tobacco, and crushed stone define the aromatics, and this beauty is medium to full-bodied, has a pure, layered mouthfeel, the fruit and opulence of the vintage, and a great finish.

Inky dark purple core and hue. Modern and intense nose offering toast new oak, coffee beans, pepper and ripe dark fruit. Ample palate, sweet and ripe fruit balanced by good level of freshness, grainy tannin and a long fleshy finish with some chalky notes. Well done and ambitious, a bit marked by oak today but should soften from further ageing.

Excellent depth of crimson. Pepper and incense on the nose most interesting! Thick and sweet and very much better than most Haut-Medoc's.

The Grade Cabernet Sauvignon Serpent's Back Napa Valley is made from 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon.
Review:
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Serpent's Back shows a more aromatic, high-toned side of this site. Bright red/purplish berry fruit, pomegranate, cinnamon and sweet floral accents are all laced together. The Serpent's Back is the most refined of these three Cabernets, but it has plenty of Calistoga punch.

Bihan Le Touraine Sauvignon Blanc is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc.
Pale lemon-green in the glass, it opens with pronounced citrus intensity — lychee, grapefruit and white peach lead the nose, while the palate is rich and well-rounded with a bright, refreshing acidity that carries a long finish.
Lovely as an aperitif or alongside white meats, seafood, or a classic crottin de Chavignol goat cheese.
