There's a spicy, green peppercorn edge to the Cotes du Rhone Vieilles Vignes. It's medium to full-bodied, with svelte, supple tannins and plenty of plummy fruit that exhibits more savory notes and spice on the long finish.
Review:
The deep black-cherry and ripe-blackberry fruit, plus the full, soft body push this to the edge of sweetness on the palate. However, the gentle dry tannins at the velvety finish just keep it on track. A style that now seems a bit dated, but plenty of wine drinkers love this. Drink now.

Grand Veneur Chateauneuf Du Pape Vieilles Vignes is made from 50% Grenache, 40% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah
Matured in concrete vats (40%) and oak casks (60%)
It boasts an inky/purple color in addition to a gorgeous perfume of crushed rocks, jammy black fruits, charcoal and graphite. Blackberry aroma with an air of dates pressed in alongside – this is sweet-noted. It is easy to appreciate, a sleek and stylish start. The palate holds excellent fruit that runs well and has kick. Its tannins move round freely and a minted finale comes forward. Its dark fruit is tasty, darkens on the finish, where tar and char from its oak enter. It is all very much together, a bundle of harmony, and will gain local attributes as it ages.

The vines are 50 to 100+ year old. They are planted on red clay soils covered with pebble stones.
Harvest is destemmed and crushed. Fermentation temperature is controlled at 30°C. Vatting period of 18 to 20 days. Matured in concrete vats (40%) and oak casks (60%).
The vineyards are located in the north of Châteauneuf du Pape. GRAND VENEUR «Vieilles Vignes» cuvee is produced from the older vines. Thanks to time and an organic growing, roots go very deep in the soil. Yields are naturally low and grapes highly concentrated.

A blend of 45% Grenache Noir, 45% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah, the 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes from Domaine Grand Veneur exhales aromas of dark cherries, violets, spices, cassis and garrigue. Medium to full-bodied, round and enveloping, it's dense and tense with a fleshy core of fruit framed by structured, velvety and fine-grained tannins, concluding in a long, elegant finish. Matured for 16 months in 55% new barrels and 45% concrete tanks, the new oak is barely noticeable. It's a stunning wine.

The vineyard is situated on the high tablelands, which are characteristic of the northern area of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The terrain consists mainly of alpine diluvium and chalky Miocenian soil, with large flint pebbles covering the surface. Showing some maturity yet still with plenty of beautiful fruit, the 2012 Châteauneuf Du Pape reveals a lively ruby, translucent hue to go with classic mulled cherry and darker currant fruits intermixed with notions of licorice, tapenade, iron, and peppery garrigue. Medium-bodied and nicely textured, with ripe yet integrated tannins, this classic, complex Châteauneuf du Pape will drink well for another decade or more.

The 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape was still in tank at the time of this tasting, and it shows slightly better this go-round than last year. Made from 50% Grenache, 20% each of Syrah and Mourvedre, and splash of Cinsault, it’s a medium-bodied, elegant and downright pretty Châteauneuf that has classic kirsch and sweet red berry fruits, spice and garrigue aromas and flavors. It shows the approachable, classic style of the vintage and will have 10-12 years of longevity.

Dark ruby. Spicy, dark berries show on the nose with hints of black cherry and herbs. Soft on the attack and traditionally styled with a light-medium weight plate. Lovely, complex fruit and savory flavors, finishing dry with lingering rich extract. Winery: Cabrieres
The Arnaud family has owned the Château Cabrières property for three generations. In 2009, Guy Arnaud handed over the estate to his daughter, Agnes Arnaud, married to Patrick Vernier. Today, Agnes and Patrick are run the estate together.
The name ‘Cabrières’ comes from the Latin name Capraria, designating a place where goats are raised.
Château Cabrières is located in the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, in the Vaucluse department. The property dates back many centuries, indicated by a bread oven door that was discovered and preserved - the stone cut recalls the technique used in the 14th and 15th centuries. This proves the historic nature of the Chateau and its vine stock, both of which benefit from the flinty nature of the local soil, where vines have been planted since 1344.

Dominus Napa Valley Christian Moueix Red Blend is made from 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot.
Dominus Estate is the Napa Valley property of Bordeaux producer Christian Moueix. The wine is bottled from the historic Napanook Vineyard. Located at the foothills of the Mayacamas, the vineyard was planted in 1838 and continues to evolve under the stewardship of Christian Moueix. The estate's Bordeaux varietals benefit from the Yountville microclimate where temperatures are moderated by cool breezes from the San Pablo Bay. The resulting wine is a uniquely refined expression of this special terroir. The 2023 vintage is seductive and deep with notes of cedar, oriental spices, wild berry, and cocoa, followed by a finely etched finish.

Black currant, pencil shaving, subtle sandalwood, wet earth, forest floor and violet aromas follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate with ultra-fine tannins that integrate perfectly at the end. A polished and caressing texture that goes on for minutes. The balance and drinkability of this Dominus is terrific, and it will age beautifully. A blend of 87% cabernet sauvignon, 9% cabernet franc and 4% petit verdot. From organically grown grapes. Very drinkable now, but will age beautifully.

"The aromatics are a little more contained than the Napanook, knitted down with savoury incense and charred sandalwood, and a texture that even visually is rich and supple. Through the palate, things move slowly and deliberately, tobacco, musk, ocean spray, iris, with layers of sweet red liquorice, olive tapenade, latte, crushed rocks, broth, cranberry, just a beautifully crafted wine that is so enticing you could drink it now, but that promises to reward long ageing. 40% new oak, Tod Mostero winemaker, Christian Moueix owner. A late harvest from October 7-18. Drink 2026-2045."

Alain Jaume Cairanne Les Travees is made from Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre.
The selected vines for this cuvée sit on south-facing slopes in Cairanne, one of the southern Rhône's finest villages.
The wine delivers an intense nose of black fruit. Full and concentrated on the palate with silky tannins, it reveals blackcurrant and cherry before a finish carrying the pepper and earthy notes typical of Cairanne.
