With two different sub-regions in the Rhone Valley, North, and South, the Rhone region in France is on the River Valley with the sub-region in the north producing Syrah grapes and the south sub-region producing red, white, and rose wines. The Rhone region will often blend several varieties of grapes like the Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The sub region in the north will sometimes blend Syrah grapes with white wine grapes. The white wines that are produced in the area are made from Marsanne, Viognier, and Roussane grapes. The northern appellations are much smaller and produce lower quantities than the sub-regions in the south. The far north sub region of the Rhone Valley is Cote Rotie, which is known for producing some of the best Syrah wines in the world. Wines in the North Region of the Rhone are also higher priced than wines in the south. The Southern Rhone Region uses a variety of grapes with Grenache being the most popular. Chateauneuf du Pape is the leading appellation in the Southern Rhone Region in France. Both regions are different and cover a large distance. Separated between Valance and Montelimar, the slopes in the north feature a continental climate while the sub-regions in the south have rocky and sand soils with warm winters.

Alain Jaume Bellissime Cotes du Rhone Rose is made from 50% Grenache Noir, 25% Cinsault, 20% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre
Salmon-pink color, clear and brilliant. The nose is fruity and spicy, reminiscent of wild strawberry and fine Provencal spices. The palate is full, well-balanced and fruity, with a long, fresh finish. A beautiful and delicate rosé.

A solid, focused and well-built Cairanne with aromas of spiced cherries, dried thyme and baking spices. Some crushed peppercorns, too. Medium- to full-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Very textural with good tension to the fruit on the palate, providing a vivid finish. Drink or hold.

Alain Jaume Cairanne Les Travees is made from Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre.
The selected vines for this cuvée sit on south-facing slopes in Cairanne, one of the southern Rhône's finest villages.
The wine delivers an intense nose of black fruit. Full and concentrated on the palate with silky tannins, it reveals blackcurrant and cherry before a finish carrying the pepper and earthy notes typical of Cairanne. Enjoy with roasted lamb, braised or grilled pork, or a mild cheese such as brie or camembert.
Alain Jaume Chateauneuf Du Pape Rouge Vieux Terron is made from 85% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre
An intense purple color is followed by ripe red fruit aromas, such as sweet black cherry.
The palate reveals clearly the aromatic complexity: spices and black fruit are boasted with soft tannins. The finish is long with aromatic hints of liquorice and pepper. Red raspberries, star anise and hints of cinnamon.
It will accompany game, red meat or meat in sauce and strong cheeses.
Soil types
Châteauneuf du Pape vineyards are mostly located on plateaux. Stony-clay soil covered with large rolled stones. Some plots are more sandy.
Winemaking and aging
Harvest is destemmed and crushed. Fermentation temperature is controlled at 30°C. Vatting period of 18 to 21 days. Matured in vats (80%) and oak casks (20%).
Review:
A darkly coloured wine with blackberry notes and touches of graphite and coal dust. It’s very ripe, with a soft core of rich, black fruit; the structure from the ripe tannin and fairly piercing acidity helps to hold the fruit up on the finish. Concentrated, fresh and powerful. Largely fermented in stainless steel and aged in concrete.

Another gem from this team, the 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape Vieux Terron displays a vivid ruby color and offers a fresh nose of red fruits, pepper, and sappy floral and rose-like nuances. Based on 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre aged 16 months in 10% older barrels and 90% concrete, it's medium-bodied with a pure, layered mouthfeel and outstanding length. Alain Jaume Gigondas Terrasses de Montmirail is made from 65% Grenache the rest Syrah, Mourvèdre by less than 15%.
Deep red garnet color. Aromas of ripe and black fruits. On the palate the wine is rich, powerful and harmonious - well balanced with wild berry and pepper dominating.
Soil types
Located in and around the famous area called “Dentelles de Montmirail”, the landscape typicity is made by a rocky bar (between 100 and 600 meters high). Soils are made of clay and sand with limestone. The “Dentelles” appeared thanks to the pressure between the Pyrenees and Alps mountains. This is a land of predilection to produce both powerful and fresh wines. Nights are cooler and the grapes ripeness usually comes in late September.
Winemaking & aging
Traditional wine-making in stainless and concrete vats. Crushed and destemmed grapes. Average of 18 days of vatting with pigeages. Ageing in vats mostly and oak barrels. Bottling after 12 – 14 months.

Alain Jaume Lirac Rouge Roquedon is made from 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre, 10% Carignan.
A blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Carignan grown on clay and sandy soils, mostly on terraces covered by pebble stones. Lirac is located in front of Chateauneuf du Pape, on the opposite side of the Rhone River.

Chateau Mazane Vacqueyras Rouge is made from 60% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre.

This 50 year old single vineyard (22 Acres) consists of three main varieties with a predominance of Grenache. It stretches over the 'Garrigues' (scrubland) plateau that is ideally located between the Ouvèze (tributary of the Rhone river) terraces and the Dentelles de Montmirail.
Chateau Mazane Vacqueyras Rouge is medium-bodied, pure and elegant. It offers plenty of plum, blueberry, spring flowers and peppery notes. On the palate, the richness of the tannins harmonizes with the smoothiness of the wine. The finish is long, with spice aromas and licorice. Beautifully textured, enjoy it over the coming 6-7 years.

The 2022 Vacqueyras Château Mazane is more inward and focused, with a darker edge to its ripe red and black fruit, as well as notes of new leather, graphite, and ground pepper. It has a kiss of background oak and is medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and structured. This is always a more serious, age-worthy wine compared to the open, Provençal-styled Grande Garrigue. A blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre, it was vinified in stainless steel and aged in a mix of tanks and barrels. Give it a year or two of bottle age, and it should evolve beautifully over the next 10-12 years.

Alain Jaume Rasteau Les Valats is made from 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre planted on clay and stones based soil.
Located in the northern part of the Vaucluse, the soils are mostly on slopes with limestone and rocks, at medium altitude (until 350 meters).
Grapes usually ripeness in late September. The soils are poor and the Mediterranean climate allows to produce concentrated and well balanced grapes. The place is well-known for producing wines with strong identity.
From the Cotes du Rhone Villages classification, RASTEAU has been upgraded to Cru level since the 2009 vintage.
The wine shows a deep red garnet color and a nose of fresh red berries. On the palate, the richness of the fruit and tannins harmonizes with the roundness of the wine. The finish is long, with spicy and mineral notes. Complete and authentic.
Review:
Darker cherries, savory herbs, herbes de Provence, leather, and some pepper all emerge from the 2023 Rasteau Les Valats. Medium-bodied, juicy, and nicely textured, with ripe tannins, it's enjoyable and well-made. Based on 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah, aged a year in vats, it will drink well for 10-12 years.

Alain Jaume Saint Joseph La Butte d'Or is made from 100 percent Syrah.
The wine comes from vineyards that are sourced from the south of the appellation and located on hillsides that enjoy a east and southeast exposure. On the nose, this wine reveals aromas of pepper and jammy red fruits. In the mouth, it is balanced, ample and intense, offering beautiful tannins on the long lasting finish. A wine of character that can be cellared up to 8 years.
Manual harvest, selection of healthy and ripe grapes. Total destemming. Cold pre-fermentation maceration 5 to 6 days. Aged in oak barrels with 10% new oak.
Review:
Opaque ruby. Aromas of ripe dark berries, licorice and candied flowers take on a smoky mineral aspect with aeration. Silky, fresh and round on the palate, offering sweet blueberry, cherry and spicecake flavors that open up slowly through the back half. Youthfully firm tannins add grip to a very long, smoke- and spice-tinged finish that strongly echoes the blue fruit and spice notes. (made with de-stemmed fruit and raised in oak barrels, 10% of them new)

Alain Jaume Vacqueyras Grande Garrigue is made from 65% Grenache Noir, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre and 5% Old vines Cinsault
Deep, intense hue. Aromas of fresh black fruit a little meaty, with dried herbs smells. On the palate, the richness of the tannins harmonizes with the smoothness of the wine. The finish is long, with spices aromas, licorice. A typical wine from this specific terroir called "Les Garrigues".
Soil type Vacqueyras is located right next to Gigondas AOC. It mostly streches on Sarrians territory, where is the famous plateaux named “Les Garrigues”. This area is made of clay and rocks. The beautiful landscape of the “garrigue” is typical of the mediterranean area. While never as big or concentrated as the Mazane, I still tend to prefer this cuvée from Alaine Jaume due to its complexity and just sheer charm. Spicy red and black fruits, Provençal garrigue, and tons of spice all shine from the 2023 Vacqueyras Grande Garrigue, and it's medium-bodied, has a seamless, elegant mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It was aged primarily in tanks with a small portion in barrel. This complex, incredibly Provençal beauty will drink well over the coming 8-10 years. Drink 2026-2035.

Alain Jaume Ventoux Les Gelinottes is made from 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah
The colour is intense, purple-tinged garnet. The aromatic range of the nose goes from fresh berries to black fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry). The palate is full-flavoured, with very soft tannins and aromas of the fruit already mentioned. This is a gorgeous style of wine, fruity driven, for every day drinking...anytime !
Soil types
The wine is produced from hilly vineyards that are mainly planted on sandy and clay soils. They are located on the East side of the Rhone valley, in the Vaucluse area. Welcome to the foothills of the well known “Mont Ventoux” Mountain.
Winemaking and aging
Stainless steel fermentaion at cool temperature to preserve the fruits and typicity. Bottling 8 months after the harvest.
Goes well with quite a lot of food such as Pizza, Pasta, hamburger, mild cheese or even on its own.
Beatus began with a dream and a friendship. Our dream was to make wine in Châteauneuf du Pape, one of the first regions to inspire the desire to pursue winemaking in general, and of working with Grenache in particular.
We developed a long-standing friendship with Anne-Charlotte Melia-Bachas, Proprietor of Chateau de la Font du Loup, who approached us with the idea to craft a wine together a number of years ago.
This has all come to fruition with Beatus, a wine that we have decided to make ongoing, every year — since tasting the exciting results of the first vintage in barrel.
The vineyard parcel selected for this wine is a single plot of 80-year old Grenache at the top of La Crau in Châteauneuf du Pape, the highest location in the AOC. It sits on a north-facing slope that helps guard against the sometimes intense summer heat that can affect the surrounding areas.
This plot is called “Le Poteau” and has been generously granted to us by Anne-Charlotte as the core of this wine, with supplementation of Syrah and Mourvèdre from surrounding parcels also grown on the Chateau de la Font du Loup estate, to round out the blend.
The winemaking is directed by myself and carried out by Anne-Charlotte, Stéphane Dupuy d’Angeac and their team. It is our hope to bring you one of the finest expressions of Grenache from this special region each and every vintage.
Yields from this block are very small due to the age of the vines, therefore only up to 100 cases of Beatus will be produced each year, depending on the conditions of the vintage.

Review:
Made in collaboration with Chateau de la Font Du Loup, the 2020 Beatus is an extraordinary bottling that rivals some of the top wines of this region. The nose is hugely perfumed with red rose petals, potpourri, sage and shades of red currants. The palate displays the same level of concentration as it does on the bouquet. Beautiful guava and ripe strawberry fruits parade with copious minerals and a sinfully good texture on the palate. Fresh and vibrant, this is just sensational stuff to enjoy in its heady youth.

Like its little sister (Côte Rôzier) the Côte Brune is a 100% Syrah with a beautiful dark and brilliant color. The nose shows grilled and toasted notes and is completed by small red and black fruits. It is a wine with a very good length, nice complexity, finesse, and firm tannins. Its ageing in barrels for 16 months, 25% of which are new, brings a real balance to this wine. A very pleasant, elegant and modern wine that can be cellared for many years.

Solomon Hills Estate Pinot Noir is made from 100 percent Pinot Noir.
Solomon Hills Pinot Noir is always distinctive and singular in its ability to harness the Coastal influence of Santa Maria Valley. Earth tones alongside briar bush and blueberries contrast aromas of forest floor and fired red clay. The noticeable savory elements of cracked black pepper and teriyaki beef nicely balance ripe cherries and blackberries on the palate.

I loved the bouquet of the 2021 Pinot Noir Solomon Hills, a light ruby-hued effort with perfumed darker cherry, mulberry, leafy herb, and smoked earth nuances. It's medium-bodied, has a layered, seamless texture, integrated tannins, and a gorgeous finish. It's absolutely brilliant. Enjoy bottles over the coming decade or more.

Louis M. Martini The Gryphon Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 is made from Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Gryphon takes its name and its crest from the mythical creature that is the traditional symbol of Genoa, the Italian port city where Louis M. Martini was born and from which he set sail for America in 1899 at just twelve years old. The three sections of the gryphon's tail stand for the three generations of Martinis — Louis M., Louis P. and Mike — who built the family's legacy across more than ninety years in Napa Valley.
Six years in the making, The Gryphon is a deliberate return to the classic Napa Cabernet of the 1960s and 1970s: varietal, energetic and alive. Fruit is drawn from premier vineyards across the valley — among them William Hill, Monte Rosso and Stagecoach — and the wine is crafted in the same small-lot cellar used for the winery's flagship Lot No. 1. A blend led by 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, rounded out with Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec, it is layered, structured and built for the table. Boysenberry and blackberry open the glass, lifted by dried mint, fennel and a whisper of jasmine, over a core of cool mineral and cocoa from fresh French oak.
