Finca Las Divas is a single vineyard, family-owned winery located in Gualtallary, Uco Valley, where each plot is named after a famous diva to honor them and the amazing terroir and different soil types found in the same vineyard. WHT makes reference to the investors last names: Werthein and Hernández Toso.
Fourth generation of family winemakers with 135 years of history in winemaking. Pascual Toso was a pioneer of winemaking in Argentina and was the great grandfather of José Hernández Toso who kept with the legacy of his family.
Vineyards are planted at 4,265 feet above sea level in Tupungato, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina.

After a short period of maceration on skins, the grapes are soft pressed. The clear must obtained ferments slowly in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 16-17°C. The wine spends a long period of time on the fine lees, with frequent “batonnage”

Bright fruit on the nose boasts notes of black cherry, black plum, violets, rose, orange, cocoa nibs, tobacco, mushroom and forest floor. On the palate, complex layers of fruit slowly melt into a bold, structured wine that impresses from start to finish. The 2021 King Estate ‘Domaine’ Pinot Noir was stored in 26% new French oak before bottling and represents the top one percent of Estate Pinot Noir barrels. Red currants combine with freshly tilled soils, Black cherry and shades of dried herbs. The palate is soft and refined with silky tannins that frame a core of red and dark fruit flavors. Finishing long, with good viscosity, this is already sgiwubg beautifully right now.

Mordoree Tavel Rose Reine des Bois is made from Grenache
Nose: Steady rose, brilliant and cristal clear.

This wine comes from a parcel planted on a pebbled soil covered with stones, whose geology is typical of the grands crus from the Rhone Valley (a base made of marine molasse from the Miocene period covered with an alpine diluvium from the Villafranchian period). 100 % destemming, cold maceration during 48 h., pneumatic pressing, fermentation at 18° C.

Maipe Malbec Reserve is made from 100 percent Malbec.
Maipe was the Lord of the Winds for the ancient Andean Indians. He is still called upon to clear the skies after heavy rain, or to temper the summer heat.
The nose reveals dried plum and dark fruits, exotic spices, with hints of violet and chocolate. Round and fleshy, with enticing crushed plum and boysenberry fruit enlivened by a liquorice snap note. Fresh acidity lies buried on the medium-weight, juicy finish.
The grapes are carefully chosen and fermented in small lots to preserve the vineyard identity. Alcoholic fermentation for 12 days with indigenous and selected yeasts, at temperatures of 26 and 30°C, combining, remontage, pigage and delestage in order to obtain the best quality of tannins and structure.

Long Shadows Sequel Syrah is made from 95% Syrah, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.
An intensely colored wine with spicy aromas of cassis, smoked meats and a hint of olive tapenade woven throughout layers of black currant, blueberry and a trace of licorice. Wonderfully balanced, with a broad mouth-feel and soft tannins that hold together seamlessly.
Winemaking: Syrah’s delicate skin requires gentle handling during fermentation to extract richness without imparting bitter tannins, so winemaker John Duval uses a variety of techniques to produce a wide spectrum of flavors. A portion of the grapes were fermented using an Australian method known as “rack and return” that requires draining the tank twice daily and gently putting the juice back over the top of the skins. Whole-cluster fermentation was also used to enhance richness and dimension on the palate. Lastly, some of the lots underwent submerged cap fermentation to add structure and enhance the mouthfeel of the finished wine. Aged 18 months in 100% French oak barrels, 65% new.
Review:
All Syrah from a mix of sites in the Columbia Valley (Bacchus, Boushey, and Red Heaven), the 2021 Syrah Sequel is deep purple-hued with a rocking nose of cassis and blackberry fruits interwoven with notions of smoked meats, chocolate, and peppery herbs. It's full-bodied, rich, mouthfilling and textured, with ripe tannins and a great finish. It's another sensational Syrah from winemaker Gilles Nicault that will keep for 10-15 years if well stored.
