Saumaize Michelin St Veran Les Creches is 100 percent Chardonnay
The vines for Les Creches are situated in Davayé and planted on limestone based soils with a good amount of soft chalk. It is a blend from grapes from two different parcels; one 40 years old and the other over 60 years. The older vine brings subtlety and depth, and the younger vine bring minerality and freshness.
Elegant and fruity nose supported by a good minerality. Round, rich, fresh and well balanced. Luscious honey and citrus flavors with hints of butter and a delicious citrus finish.
Review:
The 2023 Saint-Véran Les Crèches has a little more mineral drive compared to the En Pommard cuvée this year. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry with citrus lemon, lime and a touch of flintiness surfacing on the finish. Worth seeking out.

Review:
The 2023 Pouilly-Fuissé La Maréchaude 1er Cru, which is so steep it has to be worked manually and where they are trialling higher trellising, has just a soupçon more exoticism than the Sur La Roche with hints of apricot, citrus fruit, vervaine and light chamomile scents in the background. Quite complex. The palate is fresh and crisp, very harmonious with hints of nectarine and apricot, fine mineralité and tension though maybe not quite as sustained as the Sur La Roche on the finish. But this is still a fine Premier Cru.

Saumaize-Michelin Pouilly-Fuisse Premier Cru Vers Cras is made from 100 percent Chardonnay
2006 marked the purchase of part of the original sharecropping of the vines, including “Les Crays”, half of which had previously been returned to the owner.
This vintage is made up of two small plots, one 50 years old, the other 30 years old, covering 24 ares. Density: 9,000 vines per hectare
Located on the southern slope of the Vergisson rock which climbs very quickly: 320M at the bottom and 390M in altitude at the top, its situation is very sunny with a lot of wind. A blue marl soil covered by the scree of the Vergisson rock, we find some iron oxide.
Hand-picked, crushed, pneumatically pressed, full fermentation in Burgundy French oak barrels (15% new). Aged for one year on fine lees. Bottled according to the lunar calendar by us, without filtration.
Nose with aromas of ripe fruit, with mineral notes. Generous palate with beautiful body. Finish with tension and salivation. Discreet in the first year, its minerality is very fine but with a lot of depth.
It is best enjoyed at 12°C with all meats in white sauce, Burgundy snails, fine fish and even certain strong cheeses.
Saumaize-Michelin Pouilly-Fuisse “Clos sur la Roche” is made from 100 percent Chardonnay.
Produced from the oldest parcel of the estate dating back from 1979 and planted on the slopes of the Vergisson Rock, "Clos sur la Roche" benefits from a south sun exposure. This beautiful Chardonnay offers abundant floral and white fruit aromas, toasty and buttery notes and brioche scents. Well-balanced and concentrated on the palate with a rich structure and refreshing notes of zesty lemon and mineral purity that brings a vibrant energy to the finish.
Complex aromas of soft citrus fruits and minerals. Densely packed and fresh, with intense, complex flavors of white fruit as well as a hint of spice. The finish is very firm, long but not dry.

This is an attractive bottling. Yellow-gold in color, the wine entrances the nose with golden apple, baking spice and dried orange peel aromas. The palate is creamy and rich with muddled pear that chases baby's breath and citrus pith on the finish. — Anna-Christina CABRALES

Arrestingly concentrated aromas of passion fruit and grapefruit are accented with flinty mineral notes and hints of white flowers. It all flows through to the palate where the texture positively vibrates with tension, yet lingers gracefully on the finish. The secret is the location; the domaine has 1.65ha of vines aged 40-100 years old, planted at the top of the Roche de Vergisson at 360-390m elevation. Give this wine five years before opening and drink over the next two decades.

Saumaize Michelin Pouilly-Fuisse Pentacrine made from 100 percent Chardonnay.
The name Pentacrine is derived from a small marine star-shaped fossil found in some soils on the Vergisson rock - the emblem of the estate. The cuvee is a blend of grapes from five different parcels of the Vergisson rock planted on scratched limestone. It is vinified in large barrels (demi-muids) in order to enhance the freshness of the wine.
Tropical and citrus fruit aromas and mineral character are followed by complex citrus and apple flavors balanced by a refreshing acidity. A deliciously pure and fresh white wine.

The Domaine Saumaize-Michelin Estate
This family estate is owned by Roger and Christine Saumaize-Michelin and is located in the Village of Vergisson, the best of the five villages for Pouilly-Fuisse. The estate built new cellars in 1991 and uses 10 - 25% new oak per vintage.

The Domaine Saumaize-Michelin Vineyards
This 9 hectare estate is planted to 8.5 hectares of Chardonnay and half an hectare of Gamay for Macon Rouge. The vines are 40-45 years old of age on average. All of the wines are 100% barrel fermented and 100% M-L fermentation. Roger Saumaize makes about 3,800 cases of wine per year under three different appellations: Mâcon-Villages, St Véran and Pouilly-Fuisse.

Roland Champion Champagne Brut Rose Grand Cru NV is the blend of 33% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Meunier and 33% Pinot Noir.
The Champagne rose shows an orange salmon color coming from the red wine base. The pinot meunier brings red fruit aromas of strawberry and raspberry with hints of spices. The palate is juicy and harmonious with good depth and minerality. A delicate balance between Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir.
It is a blend of 93% White juice (made from 33% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Meunier and 33% Pinot Noir) and 7% Pinot Noir red wine. The grapes used to produce the Coteaux Champenois red wine are coming from their vineyards near the Village of Verneuil.
Boussey Meursault Vieilles Vignes is made from 100 percent Chardonnay.
The grapes for Meursault Vieilles Vignes come from the parcels located in Meursault. They were planted in 1960 and 1970.

Complexity in our wines supported by luscious fruit and acidity is our hallmark. Dark Cabernet color with beautiful aromas of black cherry, cassis, plus 5-spice, vanilla. Big, ripe and mouthcoating across the palate. The flavors are similar to the aromas with ripe fruit, berry/cherry pie, moderate tannins, and nice length. The 2016 Paradigm is a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. Notes of black currant pressed violets and rose petals dominate the profile, underpinned by a deep vein of electric acidity, black truffle, and loamy earth. The full-bodied richness builds beautifully on the palate, showcasing a seamless integration of superfine tannins already beautifully polished at this stage. This wine is a testament to patience—please hold onto this as long as you can, as it promises to evolve into something extraordinary over time—a masterpiece of balance, density, and elegance. I find myself shaking my head over the lack of critical praise for these wines over the years and applaud the consumers who have locked into a spot on the mailing list at Paradigm because they are world-class wines from pedigreed vines, ageworthy, and offer just about the best QPR (quality-to-price ratio) in Napa these days.

Filippino Elio Barolo La Morra is made from 100% Nebbiolo.
Sourced from hillside vineyards in the La Morra commune of the Barolo zone, it pours an intense garnet red and opens with a harmonious bouquet of red rose, raspberry, cinnamon and vanilla. The palate is full, fascinating and elegant, with a firm structure and good body that reward decanting.
Winery Info: The Filippino family farms Nebbiolo across the Langhe from their base in Neive, producing classically styled Barolo and Barbaresco from small hillside parcels.
