The backbone of this Cabernet Sauvignon is derived from a vineyard in the Atlas Peak AVA of Napa Valley where soils are volcanic in origin and have limited water retention. The balance of fruit is sourced from Coombsville and Oak Knoll. The small berry clusters and intense fruit from low-yielding vines create a wine with full flavor and longevity.

Decoded is the Napa Valley range from Navigator Wine Collection, the négociant house formerly known as Precision Wine Company. In this time of multimillion-dollar vineyard estates and celebrity winemaking consultants, when it seems that financial backing has replaced skill as the key to success in enology, it is rare that a simple idea can give birth to wines that stand out for flavor and balance, rather than pedigree alone. A collaboration between veteran winemaker Philip Zorn and longtime wine executive Brent Shortridge, Waterstone Winery was formed in 2000 when the two men were introduced and discovered a shared interest in creating luxury wines at affordable prices. Bringing together their previously established relationships with Napa Valley growers and vintners, the pair set out to develop balanced wines of varietal character through intelligent sourcing. Preferring to focus on the wine itself rather than the accumulation of land and facilities, Zorn and Shortridge own no vineyards themselves, nor do they own the facility where their wines are made. Dedicated winemaking, strong relationships with top growers and long-term grape contracts are the keys to Waterstone’s quality and success.

Our winemaking "style" is solely determined by this place or terrior we call "Paradigm." Winemaking is agriculture when you own your vineyards and are able to farm them to promote the very best Earth will give you. All of our selections of wines are made from five varietals on the estate. Every wine is 100% farmed and grown by us.
Complexity in our wines supported by luscious fruit and acidity is our hallmark. Our efforts during harvest and barrel cellaring concentrate on maintaining the freshness from the first day we handpicked each vineyard block. Simple winemaking protocols are employed while crucial “timing” oriented winemaking decisions rule each day.
This wine is deeply pigmented with ruby/garnet color. First sniff is Oakville Cabernet all the way. Nice layers of ripe berry and cherrylike fruit with a matching complement of toasty French Oak from an assortment of Coopers and different barrel ages. Gorgeous across the palate with a silky yet dense mouthcoating impression. Ripeness is key and the result is a wine with perfect balance and flow - just plain delicious. Toil Oregon Pinot Noir is made from 100 percent Pinot Noir.
Dark garnet color. Seductive aromas of black tea, tobacco, and crushed tart cherry and blackberry. Faint notes of vanilla and toast accentuate dark plumb and cherry character. The palate is seamless with silky texture and long sweetness. Classic Oregon Pinot Noir from an outstanding vintage. So incredibly pleased to present the first Toil Oregon Pinot Noir that includes fruit from Toil Estate Vineyard! It is an understatement to say our estate fruit is an amazingly positive contributor to the final blend.
Toil Oregon is the Willamette Valley Pinot Noir project of the Figgins family, long known for Leonetti Cellar and FIGGINS in Walla Walla. Drawing largely on Chehalem Mountains fruit, the 2022 — the first Toil to include estate-grown fruit — reflects a classic, cool Oregon season: red-fruited, savory and energetic, with the bright acidity that marks the valley.
Review:
Violet and lavender florals come together with crushed blackberries and hints of sage as the 2022 Pinot Noir blossoms in the glass. This sweeps across the palate with ripe wild berry fruits and sweet spices, taking on a crunch of tart cranberry toward the close. Blue and purple florals resonate as the 2022 finishes with a coating of edgy tannins and a raspberry concentration, all lifted by a bump of zesty acidity.
