Manoir du Carra Beaujolais Cru Fleurie Vers le Mont is made from 100 percent Gamay.
Intense red color, subtle fruity and floral aromas of violet, berry and cinnamon. It also has a distinctive aroma of Peony and Lily flowers, typical of the "Sur le Mont" terroir. Of the top ten Cru sites of Beaujolais, Fleurie is one of the top three. The wines show finesse, fullness, and flavor. Fleurie does age well for 3-5 years from vintage. The area was named for a Romain General named Floricum, not for the word flower in French. The size of this AOC is 875 hectares of grapes (2,161 acres) and about 180 examples of this Cru are available on the market. This Cru is known as the “Queen of Beaujolais” and the earth is slightly unusual for having blue color, due to magnesium in the soil.

Zerba Gavi is made from 100% Cortese, Cyromaceration. The skins remain in contact with the must for 36 hours and a constant temperature of 6 degrees. The must is then racked and is allowed to ferment in temperature controlled stainless steel. No malolactic fermentation.
The wine shows a pale yellow color, a delicate and quite elegant bouquet with a pleasing floral scent mingled with honeydew melon. Round on the palate, a nice body and a good balance between acidity and the ripe fruits. The finish is long, clean and persistent. Chilled, it is a nice aperitif and a perfect companion to pastas, cream sauces, white meats, fish and light fried foods.
The La Zerba Estate
This is a family run winery located in the village of Tassarolo, in the Piemonte region.
The La Zerba Vineyard
The estate spreads over 10 hectares (24.7 acres). The vineyard is located 1,476 feet above sea level. This high elevation leads to crisp, white wines that have zesty, mineral and lively characteristics. Historically, the wines of Tassarolo have lead the DOC of Gavi as the best in the region, not Gavi di Gavi, which is all about marketing. The estate is 8.5 hectares (21 acres) and produces classic Gavi. Furthermore, in top years a special cru is produced called Terra Rossa, Gavi. The DOC Gavi was founded in 1974 and consists of these villages: Gavi, Tassarolo, Novi Ligure, Pasturana, Capriatta D’Orba, Serravalle Scrivia, San Cristo Toro, Parodi, Bosio, and Carosio. The grape of Gavi is Cortese.
Filippino Elio Barbaresco San Cristoforo Riserva
Made from 100% manual harvest Nebbiolo, the wine comes from the hillsides of San Cristoforo hill in Neive enjoying a south-southwest exposure. The fruity bouquet offers subtle notes of violet and raspberries, combining with spicy hints of cinnamon, cocoa and leather. Full, enchanting and elegant taste, intense with a good body.
The best grapes are delicately pressed and the stalks are removed. The must ferments in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 26°C with a maceration of 20 to 25 days. After racking, the new wine is put into 25 e 30 H Slavonian oak casks for long months. Next, it is bottled and left to age for at least an additional 24 months.
Review:
"A medium-to full-bodied red with aromas and flavors of dried cranberries, cherries, citrus peel, violets and licorice. Ultra fine tannins and bright acidity accompany earthy and chewy notes on the palate. Shows structure and intensity. Needs at least three or four years to soften. Try after 2023."
- James Suckling (December 2020), 93 pts
Ruby red with soft purplish reflections. Rich and complex on the nose, very reminiscent of small fruits of brambles, black cherry and a very delicate hint of softwood. On the palate it is decisive, complex and extraordinarily persistent.
Review:
Complex aromas of ripe fruit, toffee, cedar and smoke. Medium body, round and creamy tannins and a fresh, juicy finish.
