Winemaking is agriculture when you own your vineyards and are able to farm them to promote the very best Earth will give you. All of our selections of wines are made from five varietals on the estate. Every wine is 100% farmed and grown by us.
Complexity in our wines supported by luscious fruit and acidity is our hallmark. Our efforts during harvest and barrel cellaring concentrate on maintaining the freshness from the first day we handpicked each vineyard block. Simple winemaking protocols are employed while crucial “timing” oriented winemaking decisions rule each day.

With small amounts of Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, this is classic Oakville—from gravelly soils, it is textured and cohesive with structure to spare. Tasted from magnum (although the estimated cost provided is for a 750-milliliter bottle), Paradigm's 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Estate comes from the winery's estate vineyard on the southwestern border of the Oakville appellation. A blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec, 4% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, all aged 20 months in French oak, it boasts seductive aromas of black cherries and cassis, plus ample cedar and vanilla. Rich, velvety and even a touch warm on the palate, it's open and opulent, ideal for drinking over the next decade or so.

A deep powerful Gran Reserva from one of Rioja Alavesa’s most enduring family run wineries. The hillside terraced vineyards are sheltered by the Sierra Cantabria Mountains to the north from harsh weather extremes. Small plot production is utilized in this region of infertile chalky clay soil to produce clusters of excellent quality. Almost 900 plots are needed to complete the approximately 400 hectares of estate-owned or cellar-controlled vineyards, some with vines more than 100 years in age.
Tasting notes
Ruby red color with earthy tones. The wine shows finesse, elegance and complexity with good concentration of black fruit, thyme and rosemary with secondary aromas of leather and tobacco leaves. In the palate it is polished and rounded, making it pleasant and easy to drink. Fleshy with both elegance and power. It has touches of black fruit jam and liquorice. A long, delicious and persistent finish.
Suitable for pairing with a long, copious meal where it can accommodate braised vegetables, cold cuts, peppers stuffed with hake and shrimp, mushroom omelettes, cod Rioja style, both red and white meat... and so on.

Tasting impeccably right now, the 2018 Rioja Gran Reserva has 5% Graciano giving a lift to the Tempranillo, fermented together in large oak vessels and concrete, and then aged two years in French oak only, both new and used. There’s tremendous life to this wine, shimmery layers of lush red fruit, oak spice, dried herb, and so much tension and length. The tannins are fine, and there’s a verticality to the full-bodied expression of the fruit. A long, persistent finish finds complement in plenty of acidity. Age 20 years or more. - Virginie BOONE

Jubilation is our newest wine in the Colgin Cellars collection. Jubilation is our Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine created with a selection of barrels that display earlier drinking characteristics from our three hillside vineyards. As our vine age has matured and small additions have been made to our original holdings, we had the privilege of increasing our selectivity. Following the blending of our single-vineyard wines, we were fortunate to have a collection of barrels that conveyed the same elegance and complexity for which we are known, yet on a more supple, approachable frame. Jubilation is a wine ready to enjoy now, with the pedigree to age gracefully in the cellar, maintaining the Colgin Cellars’ hallmarks of perfume, freshness, and minerality. The inaugural bottling of Jubilation from the 2016 vintage was released in late 2020. Future vintages are destined for select members of the fine wine trade.
Laird Cabernet Sauvignon Flat Rock Ranch 2019 is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.
A single-vineyard Cabernet from the estate Flat Rock Ranch in the Yountville appellation of Napa Valley, aged twenty-one months in French oak (roughly 43% new). It is a polished, full-bodied Cabernet with dark berry fruit, baking spice and firm, ripe tannins.
