Segries Secret de la Grange Lirac 2015 (Magnum)

Segries Secret Grange Lirac Rouge  is made from 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah.

This is a new wine for Chateau de Segries. 

The wine is dark and inky. 
The aromas are intense and complex. It has fruit flavors of course, Strawberry and Blackberry, but it also have some interesting spice components, garrigue, pepper and licorice.

The finish is long and very pleasant as the tannins are round and well integrated.

La Grange is the name of the parcel where the grapes are grown. The soil is Clay and Limestone.
The average age of the vines is 80 years old.

Classic vinification in temperature controlled tanks. The skin contact maceration lasted 30 days and was completed in cement tanks.

Review:

A tiny production new cuvee (there are just 100 cases), the 2015 Lirac Secret de la Grange is similar to the Cuvee Reservee, yet has another level of polish, purity and finesse. Notes of blueberries, blackberries, crushed rocks, roasted meats, toasted spices and licorice all soar from this gorgeously concentrated, rich, yet seamless Lirac that has no hard edges, notable freshness and a great finish. "The 2015 Lirac Secret de la Grange is just as good as the 2016. It’s the same blend (90-10 Grenache-Syrah), made the same way, without any wood. The fruit is a bit more evolved toward cherries and spice rather than the bright raspberries of youth, but it’s still full-bodied, creamy in texture and rich, with a long finish. Drink now to 2025. Chateau de Mus Languedoc Red Blend Gold Label 2018

Chateau de Mus Languedoc Red Blend Gold Label is made 70% Syrah, 20% Grenache and 10% Mourvedre.

This wine has a nice dark ruby color, with aromas of red fruits and some florals and spicy notes. The tannins are soft and juicy, giving the wine a great richness and complexity.

Chateau de Mus Languedoc Red Blend Gold Label is made from grapes coming from several parcel planted 15 years ago on gravel soil, similar to the terroir found in the Graves' region of Bordeaux. 
In order to achieve perfect ripeness, harvest were conducted quite late in the season as the producer is looking for a nice concentration of aromas and sugar. Then, the vinification was traditional, meaning the fermentation was done in concrete tank followed by a long ageing process, during 6-8 months. The Syrah and the Mourvèdre were aged in Oak barrels while the Grenache was aged in stainless steel tanks. The wine is a blend of 70% Syrah, 20% Grenache and 10% Mourvèdre.

This wine will be a great companion to grilled meat, grilled vegetables and cheese.


Chateau des Arnauds Bordeaux Rouge 2018

Chateau des Arnauds Bordeaux Rouge is made from 100% Merlot.

The wine shows a deep red purple color and intense aromas of black fruits (blackcurrant, black cherry) with hints of liquorice. Very fruity and well-balanced. It is powerful and well structured in the mouth with round and silky tannins, ripe flavors of black fruits. Strong and a slightly spicy finish.

Grapes are coming from 30 year old vines planted on gravelly soils. 

The land benefits from sun exposure, warmth and humidity that are strong assets for the vine culture.

The wine pairs well with game meat and beef on the grill.

Segries Tavel Rose is made from 50% Grenache, 30% Cinsault, 15% Clairette, 5% Syrah. The age of the vines is 30 years. Traditional vinification at low temperature, "vin de saignée" with a maceration during one night in cement vat.

This is large for a Rose...structured and focused, with the color of dark ruby. The nose is loaded up with fresh fruit. Strawberry, blackcurrant, and raspberry beam from the glass. On the palate, the mouth-feel is ripe and succulent. It has strength, but maintains its fresh and crisp expression. The finish is filled with Asian spice and slight hints of smoke. Drink this juice now or over the next year or two.

Le Blanc du Chateau des Landes Bordeaux Blanc 2018

Le Blanc du Chateau des Landes Bordeaux Blanc  is made from 50% Sauvignon Blanc and 50% Semillion.

Le Blanc du Chateau des Landes Bordeaux Blanc is a very fruity style of Bordeaux Blanc AOC. It has great aromatic intensity with white peach and citrus aromas. 

No oak for this wine. The wine was aged on the lees for a few month in stainless steel tank.
Malolactic fermentation was completed as well in the process .


Excellent as an aperitif, it also goes very well with poultry and salads.  If you have a chance to have access to fresh oyters, it is a great match as well.

The first vintage of this wine was made in 2018 as Nicolas Lassagne wanted to create an easy drinking wine that will be perfect as an aperitif in the summer time or to compliment salads and seafood in the winter time.

Showing fresh, bright aromas of red cherry and sun-ripened red berries with floral accents, this is a very well balanced and flavorful wine with very good flavor concentration. Simply delicious. The Chateau de Segries Estate
In 1994, Henri de Lanzac, cousin of Christophe Delorme from Domaine de la Mordoree, purchased the Domaine and began to improve the quality of the wine. "Segries" in provencal means "water spring". This family owned and operated winery is located in Lirac and produces some of the best values in my portfolio. They produce the following A.O.C. wines:

The Chateau de Segries Vineyard 
The Domaine Chateau de Segries owns 44.5 hectares of vineyard land (108.91 acres), all in old vines, 30 hectares in one piece alone: 
- 7 ha (17.30 acres) in Tavel, on limestone, pebble stone, sand and clay based soils. 
- 30 ha (74.10 acres) in Lirac, on clay and limestone based soils.  
- 4 ha (9.88 acres) in Cotes du Rhone.
- 3.5 other ha (8.65 acres) in Cotes du Rhone for the "Clos de l'Hermitage"
Many of the vines date back to 1925, and were planted by the former owner Count de
