Mason Cellars Pelissa Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is made from 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2020 Mason Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon is quintessentially Oakville from nose to finish. Attractive fresh blackberry, red current and chocolate with a hint of sweet oak boast out of the glass. This wine showcases graphite, velvety tannins and concentrated, beautifully balanced flavors with a bit of spice and white pepper. These bold flavors typical of Oakville Cabernet are rounded out with velvety tannins, a weighty mid-palate and a long, juicy finish.
Production Notes:
The fruit was delicately hand-picked in the early morning hours and brought into the winery for processing. The grapes were crushed, about 60% whole berry, and cold soaked for three days before being inoculated for primary and malo-lactic fermentation. Once dry, the wine was put down to barrel for 20 months in medium toast French oak, 25% of which was new.

Grapes for our 2020 Mason Cabernet Sauvignon are sourced exclusively from the Pelissa Vineyard in Oakville. This vineyard spans 60 acres and is planted to Old BV Clone 7 Cabernet Sauvignon as well as Zinfandel. This vineyard is named for Andrew and Babe Pelissa, who after their marriage on August 30, 1930, made their home at the site of this vineyard which, at the time, was a dairy. Oakville is the core of Napa Valley’s famed Cabernet Sauvignon production, and this site is no exception with the flawless blending of climate and soil to create a remarkable wine.

Deep garnet/purple, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Hickinbotham Vineyard has a classic nose showing pronounced fresh blackcurrant and blackberry highlighted by cloves, menthol, pencil shavings and earth notes. Medium to full-bodied, taut and muscular, the palate has grainy tannins, nice freshness and a long finish.

Morlet Family Vineyards Billet Doux Late Harvest Semillon 2012 (half-bottle) is made from Sémillon (65%) Sauvignon Blanc (31%) Muscat à Petits Grains (4%)
rowing in the gravelly soil of an ancient riverbed in the beautiful Alexander Valley, the old vines benefit from hot afternoons and cool, foggy mornings, favorable for the development of Botrytis (Noble Rot). Extremely small yields in the Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat vineyards lead to the immensely concentrated fruit. Just as one receives a note from one’s sweetheart, we present this wine as a precious ‘Love Note’ or ‘Billet Doux.’
Deep crystal clear gold. Intense and complex bouquet of dry apricot, pêche de vigne and Reine Claude yellow plum intermixed with notes of quince, honey, Muscat and a hint of sweet vanilla. Full bodied, the palate is reminiscent of the nose, with a creamy sweet texture and a great intensity. The large amount of sugar and glycerin creates a highlighted viscosity. Along with the wine’s great concentration, richness and opulence, the classical aromatic complexity reveals a flamboyant yet harmonious ensemble, leading to a very long, complex and smooth finish.

Produced from 65% Sémillon, 31% Sauvignon Blanc and 4% Muscat, the 2012 Billet Doux has a medium golden color and profoundly scented nose of beeswax, honeyed nuts, orange marmalade, Manuka honey and preserved lemons. Full-bodied, full-on sweet, rich, concentrated and oh-so-unctuous, it delivers powerful flavor layers and epic length. 175 cases were made.

Turley Pesenti Zinfandel is made from 100 percent Zinfandel.
This certified organic estate-owned vineyard was planted in the 1920s on primarily limestone soil. Though the vines are head-trained and dry-farmed, the soil plays the most important role in distinguishing this vineyard on the west side of Paso Robles. The wines have a brightness, with chalk and floral characteristic aromas unique to the site, and to Zinfandel in general.
Review:
Dark and brambly, with brooding plum and blackberry flavors accented by licorice, clove and smoked pepper tones as this builds grip toward medium-grained tannins. Drink now through 2035. 2,387 cases made.

Florence Cholet Puligny-Montrachet is made from Chardonnay.
Florence Cholet took the reins of her family's fourth-generation domaine in Corcelles-les-Arts (just east of Puligny and Meursault) in 2019, renaming it from Domaine Christian Cholet-Pelletier. Master's in oenology, with stints at Chapoutier, Château de Pibarnon, Walla Walla and Australia behind her. Roughly 5–7.5 ha across Bourgogne, Saint-Romain, Auxey-Duresses, Meursault and Puligny. No herbicides or pesticides, ploughed vineyards, hand-harvesting, wild-yeast fermentations since 2017, and a deliberately light hand with new oak.
The 2024: blended from her usual Puligny lieux-dits Les Levrons (60-year-old vines) and La Rousselle (30 years), supplemented this vintage by fruit from Les Enseignères — one of Puligny's great lieux-dits, sitting right beside Bâtard-Montrachet and Bienvenues-Bâtard, with 70-year-old vines — because 2024's crop was so small. That's an unusually strong parcel mix for a village bottling.
In the glass: classic Puligny — pale, slightly shy at first, then yellow apple, peach and melon with floral top notes and a faint spiced/licorice edge. Creamy, concentrated mid-palate, but the 2024 season's cool, wet run gives it fine, lively acidity and a mineral finish. Barrel presence is subtle: a whisper of vanilla, well integrated. ~13.5% abv.
Drinking window: good now with air, but it'll be better with 3–5 years in the cellar. Textbook food wine — shellfish, roast chicken, richer fish, soft cheeses.

Taste: Great vibrant flavors of black raspberry, black cherry, and cranberry. Fruit flavors are followed by a great rush of layered darker flavors of earth, mineral, chocolate, clove spice, long persistent finish of black raspberry and cranberry fruit..
The vineyard—owned by Jack Florence of Rockpile Ranch fame—was planted from cuttings of the St. Peters Church clone, taken from the Rockpile Ranch. In 2012, the yields were relatively low (even though most vineyards produced a big crop), so the Florence Vineyard zinfandel was as intense, aromatic, and richly-textured as ever.

The Dashe Cellars Estate
Dashe Cellars were founded in 1996 by Anne and Michael Dashe, a husband and wife winemaking team who created a small winery that focuses on wines from Sonoma County. Since Anne's winemaking origins are French and Michael's are American, they wanted to elaborate distinctive wines that offered the best from both of their countries of origin.
The Dashe Cellars Vineyards
They have decided to concentrate on single vineyard sites - to locate small independent vineyards and create wines that reflect the vineyards unique soil, climate, and regional characteristics. They use traditional fine winemaking techniques such as small lot fermentations, the use of indigenous yeast on the grapes to conduct the fermentations, little or no fining or filtration, and small barrel aging. All the wines are made, tasted, and blended by the production team of Michael, Anne, and Matt Smith (enologist).

2013 Henriot Cuvee Hemera Brut is made from 50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir.
The year 2013 offered a substance rich in freshness, tension and acidity. These elements have given Cuvée Hemera 2013 a profile of precision, detail and lace. On the nose, fresh and candied citrus fruits, lemony notes, a frank minerality, and an almost heady smokiness come through. On opening, subtle notes of toast and dried fruit accompany the nose. On the palate, it is a continuity, with a salivating tension, a frank and straightforward structure, accompanied by a finish sprinkled with tannins that give it a fine length.
Review:
A wonderfully expressive nose of sourdough, acacia, citrus peel, apricots and honeycomb. Some pineapple and grapefruit. It’s explosive on the palate, with mouthwatering acidity and so much tension. Tight bubbles. Drives forward with energy. Chardonnay and pinot noir from the six founding crus of the house: Avize, Chouilly, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Mailly-Champagne, Verzenay and Verzy. 3.5g/L dosage. Disgorged June 2023. Drink or hold.
