Michelet Chablis Premier Cru Beauroy 2023

Michelet Chablis Premier Cru Beauroy is made from 100 percent Chardonnay.

Chablis is the northernmost wine region of Burgundy, renowned for producing some of the world's finest and most mineral-driven Chardonnay. The Premier Cru 'Beauroy' vineyard is located on the right bank of the Serein River on slopes with Kimmeridgian clay and limestone soils rich in fossilized oyster shells.

This wine displays a brilliant pale gold color with green reflections. The nose offers aromas of citrus, white flowers, and characteristic flinty minerality. On the palate, it is precise and elegant with bright acidity, flavors of green apple and lemon, and a long mineral finish.

Pairs excellently with oysters, shellfish, sushi, or simply prepared white fish.

Bachelet Bertrand Chassagne Montrachet Blanc Premier Cru Morgeot 2024

Bachelet Bertrand Chassagne Montrachet Blanc Premier Cru Morgeot is made from 100 percent Chardonnay.

The Chassagne-Montrachet appellation is located in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune and produces mainly white wines. 'Morgeot' is located in the south of the village, characterized by compact limestone soil containing iron oxide, which gives the soil its particular red-brown color.

The wine offers a golden color, a subtle nose of white flowers and honey notes. Full-bodied and well-structured on the palate.

The softness of the Chardonnay on the palate makes an interesting pairing with cooked foie gras; it also sits well with lobster, spiny lobster, or even morel mushroom dumplings or Bresse chicken in a cream sauce.

Bachelet Bertrand Maranges Blanc Premier Cru Fussiere 2024

Bachelet Bertrand Maranges Blanc Premier Cru Fussiere is made from 100 percent Chardonnay.

The Maranges appellation is the youngest of the Côte de Beaune family, making its debut in May 1989. It spans three villages, namely Dezize-lès-Maranges, Cheilly-les-Maranges and Sampigny-les-Maranges. Several hills and slopes make up this appellation, all south/south-east-facing, at an altitude of between 200 and 400 metres. The Maranges 1ers Crus are spread over seven distinct villages.

'La Fussière' is the main village of the Maranges appellation and is located in the Cheilly and Dezize-les-Maranges areas.

This wine has a pale gold robe, with plenty of sparkle. At first, the nose evokes notes of white flowers, like acacias, then the second nose delivers a flinty, slightly buttery aspect. Plenty of versatility and subtlety on the palate, with floral notes.

A good accompaniment to a cold starter or fish. Try with a slightly sharp hard cheese, such as Cantal or Gouda, to draw out its natural vivacity.

Bachelet Bertrand Maranges Rouge Premier Cru Clos Roussots 2024

Bachelet Bertrand Maranges Rouge Premier Cru Clos Roussots is made from 100 percent Pinot Noir.

The Maranges appellation is the youngest of the Côte de Beaune family, making its debut in May 1989. It spans three villages: Dezize-lès-Maranges, Cheilly-les-Maranges and Sampigny-les-Maranges. Several hills and slopes make up this appellation, that are south/south-east-facing.

'Les Clos Roussots' is a Premier Cru vineyard in Cheilly-les-Maranges, producing wines with depth and structure.

The wine offers deep ruby color with purple highlights. Aromatic nose of dark berries, spice, and a mineral edge. The palate is full-bodied with firm yet silky tannins and a long finish.

Pairs well with roasted meats, game, and aged cheeses.

Winery: Geantet-Pansiot

The Domaine Geantet-Pansiot Estate
The Domaine was founded by Edmond Geantet in 1955. Vincent Geantet, who has a passion for Harley Davidsons as well as wine, joined him in 1977 and definitely took over the estate in 1989. He represents the 4th generation of the family producing wine and his daughter currently works with him. The domaine has grown after 1991 when Vincent bought 4 hectares in Gevrey- Chambertin, in 1994, when he bought 0.6 hectares in Chambolle Musigny and Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru, and recently in 1999, after they acquires a parcel of Gevrey- Chambertin during the sale of the domaine Vachet-Rousseau.

"Plump, succulent wines mostly from Gevrey; while quite showy, also exhibit fine detail; worth seeking out." - Anthony Dias Blue's pocket guide to wine 2006

The Domaine Geantet-Pansiot Vineyard
This is a 16 hectare-domaine (39.5 acres), spread over the communes of  Gevrey- Chambertin, Brochon, Marsannay and Chambolle- Musigny. 80% of the vineyards use Guyot Simple as a "technique de taille" (pruning technique). The other 20% are in Cordon de Royat, which allows to control the vigor of the young vines.
Depending on the weather condition, the maturity and the quantity of the grapes, Vincent is also using "vendange verte" (green harvest), which consists in cutting the bunch of grapes, one month before harvest, so that the concentration of the sugar in the grapes is higher. The harvest is done by hand and automatically selected for a second time in the cellars.  The grapes are destemmed and aged in 1 third new oak, the rest in 1-2 year old barrels. Each terroir is respected and vinified to show its character. The meager production is 100% estate bottled.

Dominique Piron Beaujolais Morgon Aux Pierres 2017

Dominique Piron Beaujolais Morgon Aux Pierres is made from 100% Gamay.

A mineral wine with fine tannins reflecting a perfume of concentrated dark fruits.
A small plot of vines of 85 ares acquired by Dominique Piron's grandfather in 1932. Registered on a place called "Aux Pierres", it is well named due to its blue stones, very typical of the Côte du Py. Year by year, the quality of the harvest has made it an emblematic plot of Piron's family. Elite of the domain, this special cuvee is produce only in case of exceptional vintage. It's a cuvee that can be kept for more than 10 years.

Review:

"This deep and powerful Morgon is just beginning to give its best. The spicy oak is there, but well integrated with the plum and blackberry fruit. Very good balance on the generous front palate, but at the back the richness makes a bold statement and the tannins just hold it in check. With a shade less ripeness this would be even more impressive. Drink or hold.
