Our fourth vintage from the Spencer Cabernet vineyard certainly does not disappoint. The blend is the same as years past (92% Cabernet/8% Petit Verdot) and this wine just continues to excite us. Loaded with blue and black fruits, this wine has the acid lift that just screams well marbled red meat! Out of the three wines, this one seems to need the most air so a healthy decant will only help peel back the layers that is Spencer Cabernet.- Winemaker Thomas River Brown

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Spence Vineyard comes from a site in the Dry Creek Valley and reveals a deep purple color as well as a pure bouquet of currants, cassis, spice box, tobacco, and earth. I love its balance, and it has full-bodied richness, ripe tannins, and a dusty, mineral-like character on the finish. Pure 100% cabernet Sauvignon, this vineyard continually astonishes. Loads of loamy soil notes followed by blue and black fruits give this cabernet massive depth and beautiful integrated tannins. Milk chocolate, crème de cassis and tobacco give this massive wine the depth you come to expect with Napa cabs, but it is all Sonoma County, all from our magnificent little private valley which sees sun all day! Jersey Boys is a six-acre vineyard that was replanted in 2008 with four different clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, handpicked by winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown.

A step up and coming from a steep hillside vineyard, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Jersey Boys Vineyard is another full-bodied, powerful yet elegant wine that has notable complexity in its cassis and black cherry fruit and notes of black tea, savory herbs, tobacco, and earth. The tannins are beautifully polished, and it offers notable purity and freshness as well as a great finish. It's another 2016 that offers incredible quality. Trione Zinfandel Flatridge Ranch 2015

Trione Zinfandel Flatridge Ranch is made from 100 percent Zinfandel. 

Aromas of briarwood and pipe tobacco give way to blackberry pie, toasted macaroons and plums.  The wine is velvety, supple and rich with a long, satisfying finish.  This Zinfandel, a Sonoma County classic, will continue to age for many years to come.

Flatridge Ranch is a secluded parcel in the Coastal mountain range, west of the Rockpile AVA.  Here the Trione family planted a 10 acre vineyard in 2008.  The vines are a unique Zinfandel selection called Saint Peter’s Church, whose provenance is a 100-year-old block in Cloverdale, a small town north of our Geyserville winery.   The 2013 vintage was a perfect growing season.

Winemaking:  We fermented the grapes in small, open top fermenters, hand plunging the cap three-four times daily.  The wine aged 18 months in American oak barrels, 40% new, prior to bottling March 2015.

The original and flagship wine for GAMBA Vineyards and Winery from our family Estate Vineyard in the Russian River Valley planted in 1900.

Tasting Notes: Deep garnet in color with a cherry preserve nose, highlighted by red plum and dried cranberry, this wine promises a classic expression of Zinfandel on the palate. Beginning with an appealing mix of spicy berry aromas and flavors, the wine expands into medium to full bodied ripe briary fruit of plum, black cherry, earth minerals, and white pepper.

The texture is silky smooth, with elegant tannins, integrated with a subtle brown spice. The long cherry kirsch-filled finish is punctuated by firm but gentle tannins. With ample acidity, the balanced framework, effusive fruit, and a smooth lingering finish, this wine will drink wonderfully for several years to come.

ABOUT KEVIN KINSELLA
Before buying a vineyard and creating a wine in Sonoma's Dry Creek Valley, Kevin Kinsella had established himself as a successful entrepreneur with diverse business interests. Kinsella is founder of the private venture capital fund, Avalon Ventures, which funded the first big data company, multiple billion dollar pharmaceutical companies, the first touch screen for the Apple iPhone, the first mega social gaming company and the radically new stealth vessel for the Navy SEALS. Avalon has developed more than 120 different companies. As a consultant to the Peruvian government, Kinsella developed the first international marketing plan for the remarkable Andean grain, quinoa. Kinsella is also a Tony Award winner and largest private investor in the Broadway hit Jersey Boys. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.


When Kinsella purchased a 12-acre vineyard in the foothills of the western edge of Dry Creek Valley in 2007, his business instincts took over. "Part of the philosophy of venture capital is to go with the best people you can," explains Kinsella, who hired talented winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown.


Kinsella quickly set his sights on making the best-tasting Cabernet from Dry Creek, an area better known for Zinfandel. And success has come swiftly - his very first vintage, the 2008, scored 95 points at Wine Spectator.
Kinsella says the terroir of his hillside vineyard is key to quality, based partly on the good drainage patterns its soils provide, which helps avoid the green notes that grapes grown on the valley floor can show. There are no plans to branch out or grow beyond what the vineyard has to offer. "Buying grapes to supplement a label would be considered absurd in Burgundy or Bordeaux," he says. Instead, he wants the Kinsella story to be about a single estate. "I have no need for other varietals," Kinsella says. "No need to amp up production. I'd be very happy just to do this perfectly."

From a high, sun-drenched private valley in the western foothills of Sonoma's Dry Creek Valley comes an exquisite Cabernet Sauvignon hand crafted with the ultimate expertise and care by esteemed winemaker, Thomas Rivers Brown.
Kinsella Estates is an organically farmed vineyard elevated 500 feet above the Russian River. The East-West running valley enjoys a warm climate that never sees winter frost. It is planted with 12 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon vines on the steep sun-drenched hillsides composed of loamy, metamorphic soil. The vineyard is composed of three distinct blocks: The Tamara Vineyard, a steep-sloping two acre, 16 year old parcel, wedged in between an arroyo and a knoll of Spanish oaks; the Jersey Boys Vineyard, a six-acre parcel that was replanted in 2008 with four different clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, hand-selected by Thomas Brown; and the four-acre roadside Spencer Vineyard, twenty-two rows of which are planted in the Monte Rosso clone of Zinfandel.


Our wines let the fruit speak for itself - an expression of the terroir, the exceptional clones and the seasonal variation of sun and water in our vineyard. Kinsella Estates wines showcase beautiful expressions of the vineyard blocks from which they are made. Characteristics of the wines include expressive floral and dried herb aromas combined with bright fruit flavors and seductively smooth tannins.

Quinta de Fafide Douro Reserva 2017

Grape Varietals: Touriga Nacional (60%), Tinta Roriz/Tempranillo (25%) and Touriga Franca (15%)

Quinta de Fafide estate is located on the outskirts of São João da Pesqueira, at an altitude between 550 and 650 meters. The grapes are generally harvested in October, with the altitude allowing them to ripen without water stress. Extremely fresh, this wine shows the freshness of the grapes. A very intense, elegant aroma where red berry and plum jam dominate, perfectly balanced with notes from ageing in new American oak barrels. Excellent tannins on the palate, with a long and lasting finish.

ORIGIN: Grapes exclusively from the estate, Schist soil, located around São João da Pesqueira, at an average altitude of 550 meters, with mainly exposure to East / South.

VINIFICATION: Hand-picked grapes, were fully destemmed and immediatly crushed. The grapes were fermented by grape variety with rigorous selection, so the final blend was what we wanted. This is the Old World of making wine, by selecting grapes by vineyard and lots in the winery. Fermentation in small stainless steel vats, with temperatures around 28 ºC. Smooth and controlled maceration, to get elegant and aromatic wines.

AGEING: Part of the wine ages 12 months in second and third use American oak barrels.
