Product Description

One of the best properties in the appellation of Vacqueyras, and certainly the bestnamed, Le Sang des Cailloux is located on the limestone escarpment which divides the villages of Vacqueyras and Sarrians. The idiosyncrasy betrayed by Serge Férigoule handle-bar moustache reveals an approach to winemaking which is as individual as it is successful.

Winery: Le Sang des Cailloux

Le Sang des Cailloux Estate

One glimpse of Serge Férigoule’s barbell moustache might be enough for one to be completely enamored with the wines of Le Sang des Cailloux, although they also speak remarkably well for themselves. This domaine’s name means “the blood of the stones,” and Serge Férigoule is most certainly the heart that links the two together.  In 1974, Serge left winemaking school with a longing to return to the vineyards. He went to work for Monsieur Ricard’s family in 1979 to oversee the vineyards. Without anyone in his family to succeed him, Ricard decided to gamble by partnering with Serge in 1982. In 1990, after Monsieur Ricard’s retirement, Serge launched Le Sang des Cailloux. Vacqueyras had just been awarded an A.O.C. that same year, a timely twist of fate that helped Serge’s wines to become as celebrated as they deserve.

Le Sang des Cailloux Vineyards

All of Serge’s seventeen hectares rest on the great Plateau des Garrigues, where red clay, limestone, and the famous galets roulés, or rounded stones, impart a terrific intensity and depth to the wines. Given the aridity of the soil, the vines here are naturally prone to lower yields—this gives the wines their concentration and power. That Serge has been farming organically for years but has never sought certification says something about his philosophy. He is not looking to impress; only to make the best wines he possibly can. Serge is also sentimental—each year, the Cuvée Traditionnelle of Le Sang des Cailloux is named for one of his daughters, Floureto, Doucinello and Azalaïs. The “Vieilles Vignes” is also called “Lopy,” named for his hometown. His wines have everything we love about the Rhône – wild and chewy with great notes of leather, spicy garrigue, and smoky, black fruit.

J Fritsch Alsace Grand Cru Schlossberg Riesling 2015

Composition: This semi-sweet white wine is made from 100% Riesling.

The soil is granitic and has southern exposure.

Tasting Notes: This wine has a pale yellow color with intense notes of citrus fruit dominated by lime and balanced by an incredible freshness. After a light aeration, the minerality takes over. On the palate, there is more citrus fruit flavor and minerality. With bottle age, the wine will acquire a typical mineral nose reminiscent of gunflint.

Pairing: This Riesling will be perfect with fish, or with the traditional “Choucroute” (sauerkraut and sausages).

Chartron et Trebuchet Chassagne Montrachet Premier Cru La Maltroie 2015

Of a pale yellow color, the Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru "La Maltroie” offers a discreet nose of hawthorn flowers, fresh hazelnuts and vanilla notes. Full in mouth, this wine has aromas of candied lemon and some minerality on the finish.

Average age of the vines: 50 years old.

Traditional vinification in French oak barrels with complete malolactic fermentation.

Pairs with Shellfish, fish, goat cheese.

Chartron & Trebuchet Chassagne Montrachet Premier Cru Blanchot Dessus 2015

South of the Côte de Beaune, the vineyards surround the village of Chassagne-Montrachet. Along with Puligny-Montrachet it shares the undisputed prince of all dry white wines: Grand Cru Montrachet (pronounced Monrachet).
The Climat "Les Blanchots" is located South of the Montrachet plot.

Pale yellow with light silver hues. The strong oaky notes reveal the youth of the wine and its long ageing in oak barrels. With ageing, the aromas will come together with the floral and mineral notes to compose a complex and expressive nose. The palate is fresh on the attack, with citrus, lime tree, brioche and toasted notes. The finish is long and powerful, with a great aromatic precision.

Between 200 and 240 meters above sea level and facing East, this Climat is perfect for the Chardonnay grape.
Average age of vines: a part of the vines of the plot is more than 50, this other part is between 35 and 40. The vines are worked using integrated viticulture.
Plantations: 10,000 vines/hectare.
Yield: 45 hectoliters/hectare.

Blends elegantly with meat and fish with a noble and beautiful texture (veal or chicken in white sauce, roasted sea bass, but also foie gras) or grilled seafood and sauce (shrimp, lobster ...). Delicious as an aperitif and with cheeses with a light taste (Camembert, Brie, Blue cheese, Goat cheese, Gruyere...).

Manoir du Carra Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau 2016

Redolent of strawberries and roses, fragrant and medium bodied. Refreshing, tart finish.

Average age of the vines: 30 years old (between 20 and 60 years old). Skin contact maceration: between 2 and 5 days depending on the parcels.

Beaujolais-Nouveau has been very popular with almost every Thanksgiving dish - from turkey to ham, green beans to mashed potatoes, and gravy to cranberry sauce.
