Made in accordance with the stringent production criteria of the classification of the Bernkasteler Ring, wines with the designation “Grosses Gewächs Bernkasteler Ring” represent the premium line of the association’s dry wines. These Grand Crus can only come from the best sites of the steep slopes and are distinguished by their exceptional aging potential. To be awarded the status of “Grosses Gewächs”, selective hand-harvesting, a restriction of yields to 50 hl/ha and the passing of a stringent sensory examination by a highly qualified professional panel are required.
Piesporter Domherr is the ancient and original Piesporter Goldtröpfchen. It lies in the heart of Piesporter Goldtröpfchen right by the Mosel River. It consists of 4 hectares that are south-southeast facing.
The locatio on the river creates a mirror effect, offering optimum conditions for the production of outstanding mineral wine with fine, fruity elegance. Because of its prolonged vegetation period, Riesling (frequently referred to as the “queen of white varieties”) is often capable of expressing the characteristics of its terroir like no other.
Hahn Piesporter Michelsberg Riesling 2012 is made from 100 percent Riesling.
This wine appears fruit forward, light bodied and easy sipping with light effervescence. It is a wonderful summer sipper or aperitif wine. It will also accompany most light seafood, poultry and veal dishes.
The wine shows very nice fruits, mineral finesse with a very well balanced finish.

It has a brownish red color.
Intense and complex, aged for many years in French oak. It has an elegant cigar leaf aroma. Dense and round in the mouth with dried fruit, honey and notes of crystallized fruit. A velvety and persistent finish.

Matheus Piesporter Michelsburg QBA, the QBA stands for "Qualittswein bestimmter Anbaugebiete", which means that the wine comes from one of the 13 designated wine regions.
A beautiful wine with delicate perfumed aromas. Medium bodied, well balanced, filled with peaches and green apples, crisp and fresh acidity. Ideal by itself or to complement a variety of meat and seafood dishes.

The Weingut Matheus Estate
Weingut Matheus is located in Piesport on the Mosel and has a 400 year tradition of winemaking (8 generations). Since 1992, the estate has been managed by Petra Hain-Matheus and Jorg Matheus, a graduate of the school in Geisenheim. Total estate production is 35,000 bottles or 2,916 cases annually, but they could produce more (50,000 bottles).

The 2019 Paramour entices with notes of blueberry, iris, leather, chocolate cake, and cigar on the nose. A rich attack of layers of flavor include cherry, plum, coffee, and chocolate with bright acidity. Soft and silky tannins lead to a long finish, with cherry, blueberry, plum, and currant lingering on the palate.
Review:
A blend of 60% Cabernet Franc, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Merlot, the 2019 Paramour Proprietary Red was sourced from the Schifflet, Hudson and Stagecoach Vineyards. Blessed with floral notes, licorice and black cherries on the nose, this looks like the pick of the litter and is one reason why Napa Cabernet Franc prices are what they are. This is full-bodied and rich yet seemingly weightless, despite being concentrated, long and velvety. This is just lovely stuff.

Pernot Belicard Meursault Vieille Vignes is made from 100 percent Chardonnay.
The wine is produced from old vines Chardonnay coming from a small parcel of 1.63 acres in the village of Meursault.
This wine offers stone fruit aromas on the nose combined with tropical fruit notes and a hint of toasted oak. The mouth is wide and rich. Complex and textured, bright acidity, a good tension that brings length and balance to the wine that finishes on mineral and citrus fruits.
Pair with Ham with Epoisse cream, Burgundy Snails, Pyrénées sheep’s milk cheese.
