This small six-hectare domaine located in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet is making rapid strides. Philippe Pernot (a scion of the Paul Pernot dynasty) launched the Pernot-Belicard label in 2009 after marrying Miss Belicard, daughter of Mr Belicard (who owned vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet). In the vineyards, Philippe cultivates the soils, de-buds aggressively and takes pains to retain his old vines in good health. The grapes are harvested by hand, with Philippe typically among the earlier pickers in the village. Since 2014, there's more sorting, the grapes passing over a shaker table before being whole cluster pressed. Initially, the wines were bottled to make room for the new vintage, but Philippe, evidently an inquiring mind, felt that something was missing: now, the wines stay in barrel until August, but spend an additional three to six months in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks with the fine lees. The result are wines that are more integrated and complete. These are already very good wines, and Philippe possesses some enviable parcels, but it is his desire to refine and improve that marks this out as an estate to watch.

Its purity, its elegant style, its supple, polished nature ... it’s a wine of its own.Distinct in character, this is not like Cabernet from the Vales below or the hills to the east. From its pretty, delicate florals and musk, through to its silky blackcurrant and kalamata juice and down to its dark carbon soul - Trueman is a modern Cabernet that encapsulates all the toil and antiquity of Clarendon. Echoing the unearthed prose of wine writer Ebenezer Ward from 1886 on theCabernet sown from this very land – Trueman is “an excelled wine, of very marked flavor and bouquet”.
Review:
Deep garnet/purple, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Hickinbotham Vineyard has a classic nose showing pronounced fresh blackcurrant and blackberry highlighted by cloves, menthol, pencil shavings and earth notes. Medium to full-bodied, taut and muscular, the palate has grainy tannins, nice freshness and a long finish.

Marie Baron Pouilly Fume is made from 100 percent Sauvignon Blanc.
Pouilly-Fumé is one of the Loire Valley's most prestigious white wine appellations, located on the right bank of the Loire River across from Sancerre. The 'Fumé' in the name refers to the smoky, flinty character imparted by the Kimmeridgian clay and silex (flint) soils.
This wine displays a brilliant pale gold color with intense aromas of citrus, white peach, and the signature gunflint smokiness. On the palate, it is elegant and focused with mineral-driven acidity, flavors of green apple and grapefruit, and a long, precise finish.
Pairs beautifully with shellfish, sushi, grilled fish, or fresh goat cheese like Crottin de Chavignol.
