This is an elegant Nebbiolo - fresh and fruity with simple tannins (thanks to the white calcareous soil) and good minerality.

PierinValetta's brand is produced by Azienda Agricola Rivetti Massimo. They are located in the city of Nieve, in the Piedmont region and they produce Barbaresco, Barbera, Moscato, Arneis and Chardonnay.

Winery Philosophy: PierinValetta's brand is a tribute to Pierin Valetta, which is the ancestor of the Family. It is a way to thank him and honor him for all the hard work and dedication when he planted vines 75 years ago which are used today to make wines with great concentration and depth of flavors.
Pierin Valetta was one of the anchestor of the family. Valetta was the nickname of the branch of Pierin's family. He was born in 1910 and he believed in his territory since when he was a kid. In fact, thanksfully to him, now the family can grow vineyards which are 70+ years old. Now is the fifth generation which is carry on the winery. Three brothers that are following all the works with the help of their parent

OLD VINES
The vineyards are 35-75 years old with limited yield per hectare to maximize the grape quality, the terroir and production area.
NO HERBICIDES, SOIL MANAGEMENT
Herb mowing is done manually to avoid any herbicide, sowing of 20+ different variety of herbs that help plants avoiding stress and acting as natural fertilizer in addition to “humus”.
NO PESTICIDES, INSECTS MANAGEMENT
Use of “sexual confusion” (natural method that provide the use of pheromones to avoid the reproduction of the insects without any chemical product) and hand harvest of “noctue” (worms that eat buds in spring, destroying part of the production).
HARVEST
Manual harvest of only the best fruits at the moment of the top maturity followed by an accurate selection to avoid any compromise.
NATURAL FERMENTATION WITH INDIGENOUS YEASTS
Natural starter (pie de cuve) using only yeasts that are naturally present on the skins of the berries, in order to obtain not standard wines, but products that really reflect the territory and production area bottling: cambiare sulphates con sulphates.
BOTTLING WITH THE MAXIMUM RESPECT OF THE WINE
Minimum use of sulphates and clarify only when really necessary. Red wines, generally, are bottled without any filtration in order to don’t lose any feature of the grape.

The 2021 Shafer Hillside Select is crafted exclusively from grapes grown on Shafer's rugged hillside vineyards, where steep, rocky soils push the vines to produce low yields of intensely concentrated fruit. The unique terroir, combined with Napa Valley's hallmark climate of warm, sunny days and cool nights, contributed to a vintage with exceptional structure, lush tannins, and deep, vibrant color. The 2021 growing season exemplified these conditions, allowing the grapes to mature beautifully by early September, resulting in a wine with refined, pure aromas and flavors that reflect the richness and elegance of the vineyard.
“Such a beautifully balanced wine with tremendous staying power and expressive Stags Leap ironstone minerality with heady sagebrush and conifer notes with white pepper and walnut husk. The wine has an impressive depth of red-toned fruit on the mid-palate framed by tannins that practically dance across the palate, exuding length, tension, and power. Huckleberry and black cherry fruits, black truffle, dried violets, graphite, and salted dark chocolate are all framed by racy acidity, which keeps everything fresh and lifted. We are delighted to offer our first Beckstoffer Georges III bottling in many years. The spectacular vineyard site with its back to the Silverado Trail is the historic site of the grand old BV masterpieces produced for most of the last century. It is as pure an expression of Napa Valley terroir as is available anywhere, from anyone. Ripe and round black fruits, spice, blueberry, and cedar, and cigar box aromas are echoed on the palate and balanced by a preternatural lift from natural acidity and a swell of earth notes. A stunning achievement.
Review:
Thick in sage brush, dried herb and earth, this wine is powerfully built and unabashedly ripe. Dark black fruit, mocha and graphite notes arise along the thick, intense palate, leading to finishing touches of slate and iron. Cellaring will help to tame the tannins; enjoy from 2028–2035.

Matthews Winery Columbia Valley Cuvee is made from 65% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Franc, 8% Malbec.
The 2021 Columbia Valley Cuvée sparkles with purple and deep garnet in the glass. Meadow flowers, fresh red berry, black plum, and cocoa powder aromas exhilarate leading to flavors of morello cherry liqueur, cardamom, mountain blackberry, and licorice snaps. This merlot-dominant blend is plush and weighty on the palate with powdery tannins. Dark stone fruits and dusty minerality coat the palate for a long, seamless finish.
