Pierin Valetta was one of the anchestor of the family. Valetta was the nickname of the branch of Pierin's family. He was born in 1910 and he believed in his territory since when he was a kid. In fact, thanksfully to him, now the family can grow vineyards which are 70+ years old. Now is the fifth generation which is carry on the winery. Three brothers that are following all the works with the help of their parent
The winery is working with organic practice in Europe and they are in the process of getting their certification.
OLD VINES
The vineyards are 35-75 years old with limited yield per hectare to maximize the grape quality, the terroir and production area.
NO HERBICIDES, SOIL MANAGEMENT
Herb mowing is done manually to avoid any herbicide, sowing of 20+ different variety of herbs that help plants avoiding stress and acting as natural fertilizer in addition to “humus”.
NO PESTICIDES, INSECTS MANAGEMENT
Use of “sexual confusion” (natural method that provide the use of pheromones to avoid the reproduction of the insects without any chemical product) and hand harvest of “noctue” (worms that eat buds in spring, destroying part of the production).
HARVEST
Manual harvest of only the best fruits at the moment of the top maturity followed by an accurate selection to avoid any compromise.
NATURAL FERMENTATION WITH INDIGENOUS YEASTS
Natural starter (pie de cuve) using only yeasts that are naturally present on the skins of the berries, in order to obtain not standard wines, but products that really reflect the territory and production area bottling: cambiare sulphates con sulphates.
BOTTLING WITH THE MAXIMUM RESPECT OF THE WINE
Minimum use of sulphates and clarify only when really necessary. Red wines, generally, are bottled without any filtration in order to don’t lose any feature of the grape.
Belle Glos Clark and Telephone Vineyard Pinot Noir is made from 100 percent Pinot Noir.
Deep ruby red in color with scarlet highlights, Clark & Telephone opens with bountiful aromas of red fruits of cranberry and raspberry jam, laced with clove, cedar, and holiday baking spices. Bold and complex flavors of crushed ripe cherry, cranberry and blueberry pie linger on the palate. The texture is rich and lively, and leads into a warm and structured finish.
Review:
This is a very bold style of Pinot Noir, so much that it's not very reflective of the grape but would work well paired with a juicy grilled steak. Concentrated aromas of blackberry, maple syrup and hot pancakes lead into a viscous, thick palate of berry jam, clove and cardamom flavors.

Antica Vigna Valpolicella Ripasso DOC Superiore is made from 50% Corvina, 45% Rondinella and 5% Merlot.
Ripasso Superiore DOC is an elegant and refined wine, showing a beautiful and intense ruby color. Spicy, with cherry hints and wild berries notes, it features great personality and complexity. Gaja Darmagi Cabernet is made from 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon.
Angelo Gaja forever changed the world’s notion of Piedmont wines when he released this historic wine for the first time in 1985 (with the 1982 vintage), made from Bordeaux varietals planted in the township of Barbaresco. According to the often told legend, Angelo Gaja’sfather exclaimed “darmagi!” upon learning that his son had planted Cabernet Sauvignon in vineyards previously devoted to Piedmont’s traditional Nebbiolo grape. Akin to the French quel dommage, the Piedmontese expression darmagi means what a pity! Or what a shame!. With his characteristic respect for tradition and those who came before him, the younger Gaja decided to call this wine Darmagi, a homage to his family’s legacy with an eye toward the future.
Review:
You'll find more dark fruit and more freshness here than in many of the other offerings from Gaja, with a dark, deep inky appearance. The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Darmagi is a 100% expression of the grape, whereas past editions saw tiny parts of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The fruit comes from a 2.5-hectare vineyard planted in 1978 directly under the town of Barbaresco, setting the stage for an elegant rendition of Cabernet Sauvignon with a fresh and contained style. The wine shows a nice balance between the extraction you get from the grape skins and the rich succulence you get from the pulp inside the berries. In the 2017, you taste more of the skins, and in the 2018, Gaia Gaja comments, you taste more of the pulp. The 2016 offers both, countering each other with precision. Whole grapes are pressed very gently, and the wine is aged in oak for 18 months, with less emphasis on new oak now. In fact, only 30% of the total sees new oak, and a greater percentage of the wine goes into large oak casks instead.

Enemigo El Enemigo Gran Enemigo is made from 50% Malbec, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot.
In the spectrum of people who pay attention to detail, winemakers are often incredibly detail-oriented. This can sometimes spill over to become an internal battled, and, as Alejandro Vigil and Adrianna Catena state, "We are our own worst enemy." El Enemigo pays homage to this internal struggle.
The nose presents sweet aromas of black ripen fruits with hints of vanilla and chocolate, which appear after the oak ageing. The mouthfeel is sweet with structured, persistent tannins due to the natural acidity of this wine, leading into an excellent long finish.
Review:
A refined, medium-to full-bodied red with aromas of blackberry, bitter chocolate, violets, tar and tobacco. Ultra fine tannins, interwoven with silky and seamless layers of dark berries. So elegant and fine. Long. Serious and focused with fantastic depth and structure. Drink or hold.
