Arzuaga Ribera del Duero Reserva is made from 95% Tempranillo, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Merlot.

The harvest was done manually at the optimum point of maturity, and carried out separately for each of the more than 20 different plots used to make this wine. After the selection tables, a pre-fermentation maceration at low temperature and subsequent alcoholic fermentation at 28º is carried out, giving way to malolactic fermentation and aging in new French oak barrels for 26 months.

This deep garnet-colored wine has a nose of black currant, sage leaf and cherry pipe tobacco. It is smooth at first sip and then bold tannins settle in and coat the tongue and gums. Blackberry, raspberry, cocoa powder, crème brûlée and orange zest flavors are accompanied by a note of butterscotch that endures on the palate.

Aged 35 months in oak barrels, the 2020 Reserva comes from Ribera del Duero. Balsamic herbs, mature black fruit, camphor and bay leaf define the profile, while evident oak emerges in the background. Broad on entry, the palate then tightens through gum-coating tannins and a firm mid-palate. For the house style, it still needs more bottle age, though it already hints at the more structured and patient side of Ribera. Worth revisiting in five years.

Arzuaga Ribera del Duero La Planta 2023 is 100% Tempranillo.
The wine has been crafted from grapes cultivated at La Planta estate, owned by Arzuaga Navarro’s family in Quintanilla de Onésimo, the heart of Ribera del Duero. The soil is clay-calcareous and the subsoil is pure limestone at one meter under the surface. The vineyard altitude is 911 meters above sea level. These specific conditions provide distinct features of the wine.
The wine boasts a deep violet red color. Clean and bright with a range of red fruits (raspberry and cherry) that dominate with a high aromatic intensity, joined by balsamic, cacao, coffee, and roasted tones. Fresh, elegant, easy, and balanced in the mouth with a lightly sweet, toasted, and pleasant aftertaste.
Pairs best with fried fish, sausage, and white meats such as roasted poultry.

The 2023 La Planta is 100% Tempranillo and was aged for six months in oak. Floral in character, it offers rosewood and candy, followed by candied cherry. Arzuaga Gran Arzuaga Ribera del Duero is made from 92% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Gran Arzuaga is a special cuvee coming from the selection of vineyards on the two banks of the Duero River. Tempranillo is planted in the Olivares de Duero area and Cabernet Sauvignon in La Planta estate that rich in limestone soils. Both areas bring richness and typical characters to the wine.
Tasting notes:
The wine has a bright cherry red color with violet rims. On the nose, it shows great aromatic complexity. In the first place, the primary aromas of red fruits such as blackberry predominate, herbaceous and floral touches that give way to tertiary aromas where balsamic and spicy aromas stand out. On the palate the wine is creamy and silky, with a fresh entry that quickly becomes meaty and unctuous as it goes through the mouth.
Perfect with Roast Lamb, Meat Stews, and even dark Chocolate.

This wine's aromas of black cherry, caramel and violet pave the way for dark berry, clove, menthol, orange zest and rose-petal flavors. Polished tannins and a nice sense of brightness fill the mouth and recede into a finish marked with chocolate and orange zest. Drink through 2043. - Mike DeSimone

The 2020 Crianza is 90% Tempranillo and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from Ribera del Duero and was aged for 16 months, 75% in French oak casks and 25% in American oak. Garnet-red in hue. The nose features strawberry, plum, undergrowth, herbs, cedar and vanilla notes. The dry and ample palate shows mild tannins and a velvety oak texture that leads to a long-lasting finish.

Florentino Arzuaga, a great wine lover, founded Bodegas Arzuaga-Navarro in the early 1990’s after purchasing Finca La Planta, an estate located in the town of Quintanilla de Onésimo (Valladolid). With pines, oaks, Spanish cedars, wild boars, and deer, Florentino realized the great potential of an estate large enough to have a horizon of its own. Then came the vines, the cellar, and the wine – red wines with a backbone, yet elegant, well-rounded, and complex.
Bodegas Arzuaga-Navarro boasts over 150 hectares of vineyards distributed between the immediate vicinity of the cellar and the natural area of La Planta estate. The Arzuaga-Navarro vineyards enjoy a unique climate: during the day, a sharp sunlight bathes the land, while nights are fresh and humid. This combination of climatic factors favors a slow and perfect grape ripeness, resulting in a lush, aromatic fruit with great acidity.
In the Castilian region, characterized by having scarcely fertile soils, the Tinto Fino (or Tempranillo) varieties, as well as the French varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are cultivated. For over 20 years, 80 percent of the vineyards have yielded around 4.00 kg/ha.
Bodegas Arzuaga-Navarro also owns vineyards outside the province of Valladolid, in the town of Malagón, in Ciudad Real, where the Pago Florentino wine is produced.
The Bodega’s passionate work has turned their wines into one of the most prestigious brands within the Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin.

Trus Ribera del Duero Crianza is made from 100 percent Tempranillo.
Trus - an acronym for T-tierra (soil), R-roble (oak), U-uva (grape), S-sol (sun) - aims to reflect the uniqueness of each vintage, the aging potential of the wine in the bottle over the years.
Trus takes its roots in Palacios Vinos de Finca, the estate that was founded in 1999, then purchased by Javier Palacios who decided to focus on producing wines that express the purity and typicity of the Ribera terroirs.
The estate vineyards are located in Piñel de abajo, Pesquera de Duero, Quintanilla de Arriba. The winery also partners with winegrowers in Moradillo, Roa, Nava, Peñaranda or Baños de Valdearados. Trus Crianza reveals a clean and bright cherry color with Burgundian tones at the rim. The nose is very intense and complex, offering ripe black fruits and liquorice aromas, toasty and vanilla nuances, spices and balsamic notes. The wine is tasty and unctuous on the palate, a perfect harmony between acidity and alcohol. Fresh and friendly mouthfeel, the ripe and soft tannins provide structure and great length. Long finish, ripe fruit aftertaste with a smoky and spicy finish.

TASTING NOTES: A product of its unique landscape, extreme altitude and mineral-rich soil, 1076 Tinto is a bold wine with a distinct character designed to evolve over time. Its freshness and intensely fruity expression are representative of a modern style, moving away from excess, in search of the elegance, smoothness and balance found in the great wines of the world.
TERROIR: A recently restored vineyard situated at over 3,280 feet of altitude where ancestral vines over 100 years old grow harmoniously together with new, indigenous plantings in varied soil comprised of red clay, sand and mineral deposits of quartz, mica, and feldspar.

Tasted once again, the second vintage of the red 2019 Tinto comes from a warm and dry year when they used larger barrels—300- 400- and 600-liter ones—for some 16 months élevage, and the oak feels neatly folded into the wine. Despite being a warmer year, the wine has less alcohol than the 2018 but is still at 14.5%. The wine remains creamy and with a luxurious palate of ripe fruit and spicy oak flavors but with more balance and good ripeness. The tannins are fine, and the mouthfeel is dry and serious, a return to the Ribera from the early 1990s. 27,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2021.

Baron Aime Cremant de Bourgogne Brut is made from 40% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir, 30% Aligote.
