The raison d’être of Bodega Cuatro Rayas is making Verdejo wine for the world. Since its establishment in 1935, the winery has become a benchmark in the production of white wine and, in recent years, has won numerous awards for its red, rosé, frizzante, fortified wines, and vermouth.
Since the beginning, some of the priorities of the Cooperative have been taking care of the environment and the well-being of the people who live in rural areas. This commitment to a natural and social environment is now supported by the launching of ‘green & social’, a hallmark that attests the actions carried out in all the stages of the production of the wines to improve the living standard of their members and workers and the protection of the environment.

The story of this wines begun more than a century ago, with the pioneering dream of Venâncio da Costa Lima: to bring good wines to every corner of Portugal. Pioneiro wine brand was created to pay homage to his vision.
What's Unique? Pioneiro (meaning “pioneer” in Portuguese) wine vintage style label pay homage to the founder’s dream, dating back to 1914. But in a relaxed, casual way, typical of this wine producer mood.
Intense garnet color, complex nose with touches of ripe fruit, jam and spices, full-bodied flavor and a very balanced finish.
Castelao: as the most widely-grown red grape variety in Portugal it is still often referred to in Portuguese as "Periquita" or "Joao de Santarem", although that name is legally owned by José Maria da Fonseca in the Setúbal Peninsula outside of Lisbon. It is highly adaptable to different climatic conditions and its remarkable versatility enables winemakers to make a range of wines – from the easy drinking and quaffable reds and rosados to the powerful and intense reds perfectly suited to lengthy cellaring. Castelão comes into its own and is most expressive in the Sétubal Peninsula, where it makes meaty and intense wines with aromas of red berries and blue flowers that marry well with the deft use of oak.
Made from 15 year old vines planted on sandy soils.
Classic vinification at controlled temperature (25 °C) with prolonged maceration for phenolic extraction. Wine went through malolactic fermentation.
It was aged 5 months in French Oak barrels.
Wine was slightly filtered before bottling to avoid sedimentation in the bottle and to ensure stability.

Alain Jaume Gigondas Terrasses de Montmirail is made from 65% Grenache the rest Syrah, Mourvèdre by less than 15%.
Deep red garnet color. Aromas of ripe and black fruits. On the palate the wine is rich, powerful and harmonious - well balanced with wild berry and pepper dominating.
Soil types
Located in and around the famous area called “Dentelles de Montmirail”, the landscape typicity is made by a rocky bar (between 100 and 600 meters high). Soils are made of clay and sand with limestone. The “Dentelles” appeared thanks to the pressure between the Pyrenees and Alps mountains. This is a land of predilection to produce both powerful and fresh wines. Nights are cooler and the grapes ripeness usually comes in late September.
Winemaking & aging
Traditional wine-making in stainless and concrete vats. Crushed and destemmed grapes. Average of 18 days of vatting with pigeages. Ageing in vats mostly and oak barrels. Bottling after 12 – 14 months.
Review:
Fresh plum, violets, brown mushrooms, eucalyptus and dark chocolate greet the nose with depth and allure. On the palate, potential unfolds with boysenberry, brown mushroom, clove, smoke and a touch of salty minerality. Opaque magenta. Expressive, smoke-accented red and dark berry aromas show very good clarity and pick up black pepper and licorice notes with air. Supple and broad in the mouth, this wine offers plush cherry and black raspberry flavors with a touch of succulent herbs. Domaine de la Janasse Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Chaupin is made from 100 percent Grenache.
Chaupin is Domaine de la Janasse's single-parcel expression of old-vine Grenache, drawn mostly from the sandy-soiled Chapouin lieu-dit with smaller parts from La Crau and Janasse, some of the oldest vines planted in the early twentieth century. The Sabon family has run the estate near Courthezon since 1967 - today the brother-and-sister team of Christophe and Isabelle - and Janasse stands among Chateauneuf-du-Pape's benchmark producers. Partially destemmed and aged twelve months in foudre and demi-muids, Chaupin is the purest, most perfumed side of Grenache in its homeland.

All Grenache sourced mostly from the Chapouin lieu-dit with a splash from Janasse, the 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape Cuvée Chaupin shows a medium ruby hue followed by a pretty, perfumed, remarkably elegant profile. It has a core of sweet red and black berry fruits, absolutely heavenly Provençal aromatics of herbes de Provence, black olive, pepper, and flowers, plus ripe, velvety tannins, flawless balance, and a great finish. Partially destemmed and aged 12 months in 70% foudre and 30% demi-muids, this heavenly 2023 will drink beautifully over the coming two decades. There are roughly 1,500 cases produced. Drink 2025-2045.
