The wine offers black cherry fruits on the nose. Rich and full bodied with a beautiful texture. Flavorful.
The Maurice Ecard Estate
The Domaine dates back to before 1789 and produces some of the best Premiers Crus in Savigny. Owner Maurice Ecard, who is now retired, was considered by many experts to be the father of the appellation.
His wines are now produced by Vincent Sauvestere. Vincent's paternal family has been firmly established in Meursault since the 18th Century. His father and grandfather were both "Maitres de Chais" for one of the most prestigious Wine Houses in the heart of Meursault. Vincent's father, Roger, created his own company in the early fifties with the acquisition of a Wine Merchant founded in 1891. He also had his own vines, inherited from his mother. In 1988, Roger handed over the running of the company to Vincent. When Vincent, born in Nuits Saint Georges in 1961, took control of the Domaine, it consisted of only 6 hectares (14.81 acres) of vines. Today the Domaine covers 40 hectares (98.77 acres) from Chablis to Meursault. In addition, Vincent has acquired other viticultural Domaines in Chablis, the Côte Chalonnaise and recently in the Rhone Valley.
The Domaine is proud to possess two Grand Cru wines, Corton Charlemagne & Corton Marechaudes, as well as twelve Premiers Cru wines. Through his family's traditional winemaking skills, passed down from generation to generation, and his years of oenological studies, Vincent now advocates:
- Expression of the unique terroir characteristics from each individual vineyard by using traditional winemaking methods.
- Well structured and easy drinking Burgundies :
- Pleasing to the eye
- Soft and supple flavors
- Lingering aftertaste with excellent ageing attributes.
Vincent's constant aim is quality and respect for all wines.
The Maurice Ecard Vineyard
Th domaine is cultivated through organic methods and produces wines that purely and distinctly reflect the terroir. The Premiers Crus include: "Narbantons", "Jarrons", "Serpentieres", "Peuillets" and "Les Clous". The yields are never over 35 hl/ha. The vines are pruned and, when fully mature, harvested by manual selection. Vinification involves 75 to 100% destemming, a classic fermentation, pigeage, racking of the gross lees, 15-18 months in oak (15% new from Damy).
Color: intense ruby red.
Bouquet:violet flowers, black cherry and wild black fruits.
Taste: warm, dry and with good balance.
Coming from a parcel with 8-13 year old vines planted in sandy clay and marl soils.
Harvest is 100% destemmed with a soft pressing, fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature of 28-30°C, pumping over for the first week of maceration followed by skin-contact maceration for 20-25 days with rack and return technique (delestage).
Malolactic fermentation completed.
Wine is slightly filtered before bottling.
Pairs with steak, pheasants and strong cheese.
Review:
"Dusted cranberries, racy plums and roasted spices follow through to a medium-bodied palate with firm, nicely chewy tannins and a juicy finish. A savory and elegant Rosso. Well made. Drink in the next 3-4 years."

Fenocchio DOC Barbera d'Alba Superiore Bussia is made from 100 percent Barbera.
The color is a deep ruby red with garnet reflections. It has a rather intense bouquet, with scents typical of the vine and a full bodied and dry flavor, with a distinct and pleasing acidity. It becomes mature with aging, acquiring a full and balanced flavor.
Parcel is 2.5 hectares (6.2 acres) planted at 300 meters above sea level.
It pairs well with red and white meats, tagliatelle pasta and cheeses.
Tollot-Beaut Aloxe-Corton Rouge is made from 100 percent Pinot Noir.
Tollot-Beaut’s Aloxe-Corton is from vines planted between 1973 and 1993. The wine shows aromas and flavors of red cherries, red plum, violets, and earth with bright acidity and moderate tannins. It aged for 18 months in 30% new Burgundian piece.
Red Burgundy might be the world’s most flexible food wine. The wine’s high acidity, medium body, medium alcohol, and low tannins make it very food-friendly. Red Burgundy, with its earthy and sometimes gamey character, is a classic partner to roasted game birds, grilled duck breast, and dishes that feature mushrooms, black truffles, or are rich in umami.
Review:
Textural suppleness is the main attraction of this Corton for the moment, its plummy fruit less expressive than Tollot’s Bressandes (also recommended here). Delicious as a young wine, this may reveal depths and layers of flavor for those who wait.

"Sous la Velle" takes its name from its location 'under the village' of Saint Romain. The vineyards enjoy a steep and south facing exposure, planted on marl scree with the vines taking root in the limestone and offering a beautiful minerality to the wine. The nose expresses small red and black fruits, blackcurrant, cherry, raspberry and violet. The mouth provides a rich, supple and elegant wine with a good structure, pure fruit and vibrant acidity.
After destalking the grapes, the juice, skin and pulp are put into the vat for cold maceration. It lasts from 15 to 18 days. The alcoholic fermentation will follow, lasting from 5 to 6 days. These steps may be punctuated by push-downs. Aging in oak for 12 months.
Pork Filet Mignon, Pike Perch, Tomme de Morvan Cheese.
Guillemot-Michel Une Bulle is made from 100% Chardonnay.
This cuvée was created originally to celebrate the wedding of daughter Sophie Guillemot and Gautier!
The Chardonnay grapes come from a historic parcel of the estate - La Lie-Monin - that had been leased for nearly 30 years and that the family decided to cultivate again in 2013 following up a change of viticulture practice (towards organic) from their main neighbor.
"Bulle" is produced with the "methode ancestrale" - meaning only natural sugars are used from grapes that are harvested at optimum maturity, being less acidic and more aromatic, giving a beautiful fresh and elegant sparkling wine of crisp and juicy flavors, firm acidity and a long finish.
White meat, dessert, fruits, mild cheese, delicious on its own
Review:
"Bursting with aromas of apples, pears, almonds, warm bread and dried fruits, the 2019 Méthode Ancestrale Une Bulle is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and concentrated, with lively acids and a pillowy mousse. It's a touch drier than its 2018 counterpart. - William Kelley"

Trouillet Lebeau Pouilly-Vinzelles Les Quarts is made from 100 percent Chardonnay.
The wine comes from a very small parcel located in the climate of "Les Quarts" benefiting from an eastern exposure that is perfectly suited to Chardonnay, allowing early harvests and giving rich and powerful wines. Neighboring the archaeological complex of Solutré, the Vinzelles appellation is based on the same Jurassic (Bathonian and Bajocian) rocks that crown the Mâconnais mountains.
Rich aromas of peach, apricot and grapefruit, evolving with age towards fresh almond, hazelnut, honey, quince or toasted bread. This Pouilly-Vinzelles "Les Quarts" balances its natural minerality with fatness and opulence.

Trus Ribera del Duero Crianza is made from 100 percent Tempranillo.
Trus - an acronym for T-tierra (soil), R-roble (oak), U-uva (grape), S-sol (sun) - aims to reflect the uniqueness of each vintage, the aging potential of the wine in the bottle over the years.
Trus takes its roots in Palacios Vinos de Finca, the estate that was founded in 1999, then purchased by Javier Palacios who decided to focus on producing wines that express the purity and typicity of the Ribera terroirs.
The estate vineyards are located in Piñel de abajo, Pesquera de Duero, Quintanilla de Arriba. The winery also partners with winegrowers in Moradillo, Roa, Nava, Peñaranda or Baños de Valdearados. The clay-limestone soils of the high-altitude vineyards define the intense and complex personality of the wines. That is why Trus wines can be defined as classic, because an avant-garde look is the one that is directed towards the soil, preserving a typicity that is marked from its deepest roots.
Trus Crianza reveals a clean and bright cherry color with Burgundian tones at the rim. The nose is very intense and complex, offering ripe black fruits and liquorice aromas, toasty and vanilla nuances, spices and balsamic notes. The wine is tasty and unctuous on the palate, a perfect harmony between acidity and alcohol. Fresh and friendly mouthfeel, the ripe and soft tannins provide structure and great length. Long finish, ripe fruit aftertaste with a smoky and spicy finish.
Review:
"A plush and fabulous expression of variety and provenance with well-integrated alcohol, tannin and acidity. Will continue for several years and mellow. Be warned – one glass will be quickly followed by the next."

Thorn Clarke 30th Anniversary Shiraz is made from 100 percent Shiraz.
Rich, inky purple color. Aromas of black cherry and licorice supported by rich vanillin & mocha notes from the American Oak. The palate highlights the intensity of the varietal characters, showing plum and spice, with cocoa, smokey bacon and coffee bean notes below. Dense fruit tannins fill out the palate and lead to a long, complex finish. This is a wine which will comfortably cellar for years to come.
Great accompaniment to most red meat dishes, with lamb roast being a favorite of the family.
The wine was racked post malolactic fermentation and returned to the same barrels. The wine was topped every month and after six months racked and returned to the same barrels again. Prior to bottling the parcels were emptied from oak and blended. Minimal fining and filtration was carried out prior to bottling.
Remontage (pump over) twice daily. Pump over regimes were adjusted toward the end of fermentation to suit the tannin and flavor extraction of the wine. The wine remained in fermenters for 6-8 days before being pressed and filled to American oak (100% new barrels).
A Shiraz specific yeast was selected. Fermentation was carried out at a maximum of 28°C.
100% de-stemmed.
Night harvest.
Harvested at optimum flavor ripeness.
Review:
"This anniversary bottling offers a complexity aromas including brambly blackberries, game, coffee grounds and chocolate. There's some heat from the steep 15.5% alcohol on the palate, but it's kept relatively in check by fine leathery tannins, juicy fruit, herbs and spices. This has a long life ahead of it. Drink 2020–2034."
