Nuna Syrah Organic is made from 100 percent Syrah.

Chakana winery was founded in 2002 with a mission to produce wines of fantastic quality and value-for-money. Today, this wine is the fruit of long labor and steadfast adherence to this mission. Through sustainable agriculture our aim is to showcase in the most authentic way the characteristics of the vineyard, situated at 950 m above sea level with rich, stony soils and its own climate specific to the Mendoza river region.  Nuna Syrah offers intense fruity aromas of blueberries and blackberries with coffee nuances. Well-balanced and persistent in the mouth, round with a soft texture.

The grapes are carefully chosen and fermented in small lots to preserve the vineyard identity. Alcoholic fermentation for 12 days with indigenous and selected yeasts, at temperatures of 26 and 30°C, combining, remontage, pigeage and delestage in order to obtain the best quality of tannins and structure.

Nuna is produced in a state-of-the-art winery, Chakana, built with the purpose of achieving outstanding quality.

Chakana winery was founded by Juan Pelizzatti on May 2nd, 2002. Juan was driven to enter the wine industry first and foremost by his passion for wine, and also by the desire to invest his time and money on a product of agriculture. Although Juan did not know it at the time, the company was founded on the same day the Chakana was celebrated on the Andes highlands: on that same day, the Southern Cross (the Chakana for the Inca people) becomes vertical in the night Andean sky.
Juan's mission is to create an integral experience to introduce world consumers to the taste and culture of the Andes. His vision is to become one of the top 20 exporters of wine from Argentina, by consistently offering outstanding value for money.

Wine is currently produced in four different levels at Chakana, by winemaker Gabriel Bloise:

The winemaking process is focused on treating the grapes with great care and with strict control of every step of the production.
Wines are designed under the responsibility of the renowned international wine consultant Alberto Antonini.
The winery is located on a 150 ha. estate, 34 km South of the city of Mendoza, in Agrelo, Lujan de Cuyo.
The grapes grown are 35 year-old Malbec, Bonarda and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Deep and textured soils facilitate plant development and confer great body and structure to the wines.
The year-long sunny and dry conditions allow almost organic viticulture practices. The outstanding feature includes a great daily thermal amplitude, with mild days and cold nights, permitting a particular richness of polifenols that improves the wines flavors and color.
A drip irrigation system has been set up to achieve a precise control of the vegetative cycle and a rational use of water. Waters are processed and used in the vineyards.

    Riebeek Shiraz 2016

    Riebeek Cellars Shiraz is made from 100% Shiraz.

    Cold soaked for one day and then inoculated with selected yeast.
    Fermentation temperature was between 24 - 26 degree Celsius. Malolactic
    fermentation was done with French oak chips and American oak staves. This
    was then blended with wine matured in 2nd and 3rd fill barrels for 12 months.

    Often referred to as Shiraz Country, the Riebeek Valley is renowned for
    exceptional Shiraz wines. The Riebeek Shiraz is a lively rich wine, full bodied
    with a subdued smokiness on the nose and a pallet of ripe fruit and
    interesting spice.
    Well-balanced and smooth, the aftertaste lingers with the exciting flavors of
    Christmas pudding.

    Perfect companion to meat, game, duck, goose, pasta and cheese. Serve at
    room temperature

    Thorn Clarke Shotfire Quartage 2013

    Thorn Clarke Shotfire Quartage is made from 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc, 21% Petit Verdot, 10% Merlot.

    Spring rainfall was well below average with several days reaching 30°C. The growing season had even temperatures and little rainfall. Ripening was slow and steady leading to the development of good tannin structure and fruit characters.

    The fruit was harvested at night. Fermentation was carried out in a variety of small capacity fermenters. After pressing the parcels were filled to French oak (12 months) for maturation. The wine was racked after six months and the parcels were blended to form the final wine. Harvested in March 2013.

     


    Review:

    (aged in new and used French oak for a year): Youthful purple. Expressive aromas of ripe blueberry, dark chocolate and incense, with a peppery nuance adding urgency. Densely packed but lively as well, with hints of lavender, mocha and black pepper complementing pliant black and blue fruit flavors. Closes with building sweetness, a touch of smokiness and even tannins that fold slowly into the wine's plush fruit. - Josh Raynolds

    Burgo Viejo Rioja Blanco Organic 2017

    Burgo Viejo Rioja Blanco Organic  is made from 60% Viura and 40% Trempranillo Blanco

    No Oak. Aged 3 months on the lees with frequent batonnage

    Pale yellow color with green tones.
    Fresh and intense flavors of white fruits, peach, apple and some citrus notes.
    Full-bodied mouth with nice balance of volume and length.

    Vineyards are located in Alfaro. 
    Manual harvest in 8 kilograms baskets.

    Babylons Peak Chenin Blanc 2018

    Babylons Peak Chenin Blanc is made from 100 percent Chenin Blanc.

    Babylon's Peak winery, situated on the highest weathered granite slopes of the Paardeberg Mountain, is privately owned by the Basson family who has passed down the tradition, passion and art of winemaking over four generations. Predominantly low-yield dryland bushvines are selected to produce these excellent wines with distinctive character.


    The Chenin Blanc grapes were picked from very old dryland bushvine vineyards. The vineyard grows on weathered granite soils, contributing to the flavor of the grapes and mineral character of the wine. Production is limited to 5 tons/ha.
    The grapes were harvest by hand at 22.1°B. The grapes were destalked and lightly crushed. Only the first 450 litres free-run juice per ton were fermented in stainless steel tanks at a cold temperature (10-12°C) for 21 days. The wines was left on the fermentation lees until bottling.

    A crisp, fresh and fruity Chenin Blanc from low-yield dryland bushvines.

    Pairs with salads, seafood, chicken and other light dishes. The perfect wine for every occasion.

    Nuna Tetrada Organic 2018

    Nuna Tetrada Organic is made from 74% Tannat, 19% Syrah, 5% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec .

    This wine is the result of our soil studies at Nuna vineyard. The soil profile in this wine shows great texture and finesse. As 4 red varieties were planted on this soil, we named the wine Tetrada, which also is the number that represents totality.

    This wine is a blend of 4 varieties planted on the same soil profile in our Nuna vineyard. Tannat and Cabernet Franc create structure and deepness while Syrah and Malbec provide fruity flavors and roundness. The result is a balanced wine, nicely textured mixing fruits, spices and ageing notes and a long finish.

    Grown on mostly loam, with sandy loam spots, 2 feet and deeper, over calcium carbonate coated gravels in some areas.

    Vinification techniques are performed in the most gentle way, avoiding the use of enzymes and must additives. Fermentation is performed with native yeast only. Some of the grape varietals are co-fermented.

    Nuna Bonarda Organic is made from 100 percent Bonarda.

    Purple-colored Bonarda offers a fruity, fresh nose featuring plums, mulberries and violets. Fruity, forward and easy-going.

    Nuna Cabernet Sauvignon Organic is made from 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon.

    Nuna White Blend Organic 2018

    Nuna Estate White Blend is made from  40% Sauvignon Blanc, 40% Chardonnay, 20% Viognier

    The wine captures the efforts to express the identiy of the soils and the people of the land. The field blend of international white varieties offers intense aromas of pineapple, honeysuckle, peach and apricot. The wine is medium-bodied with fleshy mouthfeel and excellent purity.

    Manual harvest.The grapes are organically grown in Lujan de Cuyo, at 960 meters on the foothills of the Andes Mountains.


    Nuna Malbec Organic 2018

    Nuna Malbec Reserve is made from 100 perfect Malbec. 


    The Malbec is round and fleshy, with enticing crushed plum and boysenberry fruit enlivened by a liquorice snap note.

    The grapes are carefully chosen and fermented in small lots to preserve the vineyard identity. Alcoholic fermentation for 12 days with indigenous and selected yeasts, at temperatures of 26 and 30°C, combining, remontage, pigeage and delestage in order to obtain the best quality of tannins and structure.


    Nuna Sparkling Organic NV

    Nuna Sparkling Organic is made from 50% Chardonnay & 50% Pinot Noir.

    Pale yellow with golden hints. Very fine and persistent bubble. Citric nose with creamy tropical fruit. Very fresh and balanced in the mouth with great persistence and citric ending.

    Skin Maceration: Pinot Noir has been pressed in whole clusters, for more delicate aromas and finer mouth. Chardonnay is pressed with no skin maceration. Fermentation with selected yeasts at 14°C- 18°C Sparkling Method: short Charmat with no lees contact, for freshness and fruitiness. Malolactic
